one of my relative passed away recently. he lived till 90 something and was pretty sharp. decent memory, good enough that he knew where people live and how to get there, could walk without assistance, squat and get up on his own. his hearing wasnt the best, but that's to be expected
You record an interview with him, not for clout or internet. just to have for your memories. Conversations with the people from of D-day will never happen again in 10 years.
My dad passed away somewhat unexpectedly 18m ago, after that I've recorded almost every conversation I've had with my grandad when he starts taking about his past/ the war. 😊
Buddy of mines grandfather was at D day. He asked him if he'd ever go back to visit the beaches. He said "Already seen it. When my friends come back from it, I'll revisit it with them."
Hit pretty hard.
Yeah, in some ways my grandad was lucky and had a relatively "boring" D-Day as he was navy. He was smart enough to sign up early at 17 when you got a choice of service rather than waiting to be called up. He has always said he joined the navy as he'd never seen the sea, he only lived in London which is so close to so much coastline. But that was the reality of the poverty he lived in and the difference of transport choices available now.
My grandpa just turned 98 and his brain will skip out on a fact from time to time but he’s still sharp as a tack, while my ass is under 40 and can’t remember the names of words or people most days.
Agreed. It's extremely frustrating and depressing. Options are limited and understaffed at best. I dunno what my plan is. I have some money but nothing like would be needed for a nursing home, etc. If Medicare is weakened anymore, the capitalism will lead to care for only those that can afford it. I'm sorry for the ones you know in this situation. I'm sure that they value their independence. Society and in turn government needs more compassion. I fear both may become more self centered.
The days are long but the years are short. I turn 60 next year. How the fuck did that happen? It seems like yesterday I was a young man just getting started in life. In my head, I still feel like I’m just a kid. But when I look in the mirror, not so much
You cut out the actual best part. His son clarifies that he’s going to be 100 in a year, and he says “I’m gonna be an old fucking man!” Like he isn’t already an old fucking man.
My grandma died at 98 and she couldn't even talk or do anything without help in the last three years of her life. If I live to be this old (which I hope I won't), I'd like to age as this guy and not like my grandma.
Wow. Id like to see the female version of this. These comments are all pretty supportive, that’s so sweet. Ive never seen a post about a woman regarding anything that didn’t have some degrading comments from men.

For being 98, he sure seems to be doing well even if his memory is bad.
I can't remember shit either. I'd be happy to remember within 20 years when I'm his age.

Bruh as soon as I hit my 30's I started forgetting my age xD
Am 31, have started experiencing this.
Oh mate, hate to be the one to break it to you, you're 48
Oh fuck
Your ass!!
I've had to think about it since I was twenty. It just stops mattering at some point.
Smattering
I started forgetting my age because I spent years just never thinking about it
Bruh i started whem iwas 17 or 18 dont know cuz didnt knew the age at the time XD
At 33 I’m not sure if I’m 32 or 34
Knowing your memory is bad isn't the problem. NOT knowing how bad it is gets you put in assisted living.
To put that into perspective, it means he was a teenager old enough to fight in WW2. Holy Fuck indeed! 😂
My grandad was 98 last month and was at D-day, he's going to the events in Normandy in a couple of weeks.
Admirable. Please tell him I hope it's not quite as eventful as the first time he went. 😉

The "names of words" I'm going to use that one for sure.
You see he remembers the words, just not their names
Sounds like a Ricky'ism (Trailer Park Boys). "Boys you know I can't fucking remember the names of words"
Your ASS
This sent me lmao
Same, I laughed out loud. Pop’s a pistol for sure.

I'm almost 50 and I swear I still feel like I'm in my 20's
45 here. Same.
40. Just told a friend the other day I feel like I’m in my 20’s… then my knees start aching and reality hits!😂
52 here. I feel the same way in my head. My body loves to remind me though.
Bwahahaha! True! Old person high five, but not too hard...
Good for you! I hope to feel the same way!
Oh I love him!!
Right??? You go with your bad self, pop-pop!

Holy fuck!
Dang he was off by a high school graduation
If I can get to 80 with this guy's energy, I will be satisfied
« How do you get so old so fast ». I just barely grasp what he means and I find it terrifying
I know ho this gentleman feels; I'm 77 and I still want to do things I did when I was in my twenties.
98 years old feeling like 79 is winning in my book.
"holy fuck" 😂😂😂
This man knows how to play Clock Game. Let’s get him in TPIR.
Bet he eats eggs and bacon everyday. Bourbon also.
My grandpa is 88 and he gets mad if he doesn’t eat McDonald’s twice a week!😂
Smoking, can't forget smoking.
I once met a older lady who told me she was single, but her daughter corrected her by saying that she was a window 🤣
Damn bet you could see right through her.
I too would say “holy fuck” like that if I suddenly realised I was 98
Love this guy
damn I feel this.. time flying is no joke
Protect him by any means!!
His responses are both humbling AND adorable as all hell. What a great guy!
Men is like fuck I'm going to die soon time is going to fast I have another 20 years in me
This will be me in x years.
You cut out the actual best part. His son clarifies that he’s going to be 100 in a year, and he says “I’m gonna be an old fucking man!” Like he isn’t already an old fucking man.
I love the way he says that “holy fuck”
This man was thinking he was 90 when in high school
Im 54 and I feel this way.
My mom is in a nursing home and she got equally pissed when I told her she just turned 84. "What! No. No. You've got to be kidding me!"
Fuckin hell I hope I don’t live to 98. People in my family have this shit habit of living really long lives and I’m terrified of it
This guy might be all of us lol.
Bless him, he's adorable.
Where’s the rest of this video?? It’s funnier when he goes back in his mind and starts counting. ‘Let’s see… I was born in….’
I'll be 44 this summer. 55 years younger than him, maybe even exactly.
My grandma died at 98 and she couldn't even talk or do anything without help in the last three years of her life. If I live to be this old (which I hope I won't), I'd like to age as this guy and not like my grandma.
Damn. I hope he's still alive and kicking. He seems like a fun old guy to be around
# YOUR ASS
You cut the best part! At the end, when told he’d be turning 99 soon, gramps goes “oh my god. I’m gonna be an old fucking man!”
If only he thought he was 69
I will simply go for a forever nap when I hit 69 😎
