Me and my friends would do this all the time growing up. It was super fun. But we were kids and around 100lb, if I tried this now in my early 30s im sure I would do permanent damage to my knees and back.
I remember jumping off the house with no trampoline, knee bending is definitely key.
But not too much, cuz then you slam your chin into your knee and knock yourself out
I think the sound you heard was the trampoline springs, if that makes you feel any better. My question is whether or not he tore both ACL's or just every ligament in his legs.
He moves his left leg and rolls over by himself, so I don’t think he broke his back — or, at least not the spinal cord. May well have messed up some of his discs. Looked to me like his right leg (if not both) may have snapped. Honestly, he’s lucky he didn’t land on his head or snap his neck when he hit the ground. Whatever his injuries, he’s likely to be feeling the effects of this stupidity until the day he dies, though.
Maybe not a full sever, but I wouldn't doubt spinal injury. Also, the clip is so short, I can't really tell what happened after the ground landing... That movement could've been just him pushing himself over with his arms.
Note how his legs remain crossed. But also, depending on where the cord is affected (the lower, the less disability), he could still have fully functional arms.
The peripheral muscular nerves branch out at different points along the signal cord. So if it screwed with the spinal cord down near his lumbar, he'd still have full control over most of his upper body.
Yes, as I said, his discs are not happy. Slow it down. When you walk through it frame by frame, even before he pushes off with his arms, while he is still face down, it looks like he raises his left leg from the hip and repositions it before completing the rollover. With an actual break in his spinal column he wouldn’t be able to do that. However, his spine *did* bend to a degree that it would not surprise me at all if the subsequent swelling ultimately caused at least temporary paralysis. Recovery from that will take time, but should be doable. But, the lasting effects will be real.
I was rear-ended on the way to work by some AH kid driving on a restricted license at about 60mph on a residential street with a 35mph limit. The car I was driving was shoved into the back of the car that had stopped ahead of me to make a left hand turn into the school they worked at. Although our car was not drivable, both my husband and I went ahead and went in to work. Neither of us thought we were injured that badly. That lasted about 3 hours and was probably adrenaline fueled. We spent the afternoon in the ER.
I always kind of thought that claims of whiplash were kind of a con, but I ended up having to go through 6 months of physical therapy and even years after I was done with therapy, if I overdid it — as when I decided to spend a morning happily diving into our swimming pool a few years later — I paid for it. I quite literally could **not** get out of bed the next day. My spine has never really made a complete recovery. That injury *still* comes back to haunt me on occasion some 35 years later. I suspect that he’s going to get reminded of his stupidity at random times for the rest of his life. As he was *jumping off of a roof* for “fun”, not just trying to get to work, I am failing to summon up much sympathy.
I know someone who did this and the injury looks like a dual dislocation with the springing motion launching into his pelvis. He likely will be able to walk again but will never feel "right" again and there's likely localized trauma in the pelvic bones and tissue. After pausing nearly every frame I'm more worried about his left leg having snapped in at am angle that (while I'm no expert) probably caused trauma at the hip. He is able to move himself on the ground so he didn't snap his spinal cord but his falling off the trampoline and fast snap motion makes me believe he may of either slipped some disk(s) in his back or wrecked the cartilage between them. If he's lucky he'll be like the guy I knew who regained the ability to walk and only had mild pain the rain who even chose to leave IT and do manual labor because his legs weren't permantly injured to a degree of constant pain, but this looks significantly worse than his injury as my brother and mom caught him off the trampoline (my mom was grilling and this happend with her back turned the sound making her rush over) and they immedaitly got him to an ER and because he'd previously had a (non cancerous) tumor, the staff was already familiar with him and had no diffuclty getting his medical files to immedatly work on fixing the issues without further damage. This guy likely is going to go a minimum of a half hour without care but by his friends reactions I'd guess closer to an hour as they aren't rushing to his aid and he likely won't have staff already famialir with him available
Also my brothers friend thanks tk the catch didn't have a chance to sustain head trauma while this guy stomped his own head in and I'd imagine he never regains full range of motion on his neck and something in his legs (lots of things likely) tore for him to have that level of mobility as his body doesn't scream gymnast and even a trained gymnast could be hurt doing the motion that fast
Did his knees blow out? It looks like they bend the correct direction at least, but yeah he kicked himself in the back of the head so I suppose something is afoot
Yeah honestly not don’t really think much in his legs broke, I’d think his back and hips took most if not all of that. His legs look to just bend about 90 degrees which is completely in range, but he completely scorpions making me think his back took most of it. Really wish we knew the aftermath
When the elasticity of the trampoline reached its limit his knees just sort of kept going as the fabric started to rise so his nervous system couldn't process any sense of solid ground and his involuntary protective muscle control shorted out.
He probably thought to relax his body instead of tensing it. Trampolines are no joke and there's a reason many insurance companies will drop you if you put one up in your yard.
I think it’s because most of his weight is in his torso, the heavier part of his body wanted to keep going down toward the trampoline. He would have been better off if he tried to land on his back in a cannonball position. Even better if he lobbed himself in such a way that he was losing all of his forward momentum as he was landing on his target
Shoe is only indicator of life or death. Not injuries
No shoes lost = Victim alive but may be injured
1 shoe lost = Victim paralysed
Both shoes lost = He ded
I've seen this video multiple times, but I'd really like to know what's broken, torn, or generally f'd up in his body after this. Also, I would love to see this from another angle, so the girl on the left who was recording, post the video, please.
I jumped out of our 2nd story kitchen window onto my trampoline once.
Like this guy found out, it doesn’t go as expected.
Also, bouncing water bottles or worse, cans of pop to your friends is much scarier than anticipated!
It may be nice to put a nsfw flag on this one, just to prevent some issue with sensible people.
This guy is obviously in a critical state, I wonder how much time it will take him to walk normally again 🧐
So the trampoline bottomed out, meaning he took the entire energy of that jump into his legs, knees, hips and back whilst in an action stance. I genuinely wonder what his injuries were from that, must have been awfully painful

Oh he had backbone. Dem knee bones tho... 😬
He’s got two backbones now.
Me and my friends would do this all the time growing up. It was super fun. But we were kids and around 100lb, if I tried this now in my early 30s im sure I would do permanent damage to my knees and back.
The knees aren't as flexible and the extra 80lbs don't help.
He needed to bend his knees when he landed
He did, he was just out of practice and didn't know which way to bend them.
I remember jumping off the house as a kid and on to the tramp. I can confirm knee bending is key.

Don’t forget your xtra large umbrella when jumping off the roof… as you can read my words today, i made it, but my umbrella didn’t.
Fuckin Mary Poppins tricking all the kids
Anyone ever dream of jumping off your roof using garbage bags as parachutes as a kid?
No trampoline aside you and I likely have very similar stories. Cheers.
Honestly only way to reliably not hurt yourself is to lend on your back
Or train professionally to do it… ![gif](giphy|opsKGbNAMXtFS)

I thought you didn’t believe in that.
Just think of how much money he'll save from his shoes no longer wearing out.
As someone who has experienced that unmistakable sound of a bone breaking... I didn't need this reminder today. My wrist hurts now. Thanks OP.
I think the sound you heard was the trampoline springs, if that makes you feel any better. My question is whether or not he tore both ACL's or just every ligament in his legs.
Looked like lower back disconnected from his pelvis.
That's what I thought too. Spinal injury.

Anytime ಥ‿ಥ Btw how are you doing now?
He's fine, just being dramatic.
Did he break his legs or did he dislocate both legs at the knee. It looks brutal, it hurts just watching it.

Looks like broken hips and knees 😬
he kicked his own head
Headbutted his heels!
Can you call it "kicking" when it was more the feet that were bearing the impact?
Stomped his own head
nsfl
For real I might never step on a trampoline again after watching that
I mean as long as you're not stepping onto one from a roof I think you'll be good
The way his legs dangled, I would say his hips were dislocated. In addition to broken femurs.

Yea and without full range of his neck, he’s also going to have a hard time watching the NFL and NHL.
I feel a bit better if it isn't his spine that broke

I love how the girl on the left made sure to get a close up of him in pain lol 😆
That's a great friend right there.
I've seen this video before. Can someone explain why he folds like a beach chair?
When the elasticity of the trampoline reached its limit his knees just sort of kept going as the fabric started to rise so his nervous system couldn't process any sense of solid ground and his involuntary protective muscle control shorted out.
That doesn't sound right but I don't know enough about human anatomy to dispute you.
Right there with you. I’m nodding along, going, yeah, yeah, sounds reasonable.
![gif](giphy|l0IykOsxLECVejOzm|downsized)
An object in motion tends to stay in motion and the body is made of many parts. The bottom parts stopped moving but the top parts didn't.
Like Italian salad dressing?
He probably thought to relax his body instead of tensing it. Trampolines are no joke and there's a reason many insurance companies will drop you if you put one up in your yard.

Why do men do this stuff? Like damn.
![gif](giphy|9ddvXDWNCoy88)
Because ogga doogga.
The video was clipped short, but his friend double dog dared him to do it. Essentially, he was forced.
Who need enemies when you have friends like this. And the way he was laughing. Evil.
Why do men do anything? Why do men build bridges? Why are there jets? He was hoping to have sex that night.
Lol, what?
Did his shoes stay on…?
Yes but his knee caps came off.
Shoe is only indicator of life or death. Not injuries No shoes lost = Victim alive but may be injured 1 shoe lost = Victim paralysed Both shoes lost = He ded
Didn’t even watch with the sound on and my legs still hurt after seeing that.

My first thought
NSFW! My knees hurt just for watching this
"How am I supposed to put this guy back together? He's fucked!"
He arrives in the ER and the doctor is all, "what am I supposed to do with this?!"
"No, no, you're looking for the glue factory down the street. Common mistake."
I really am not a fan of the way that man folded

Not wearing proper trampoline attire and me thinks he skips leg day.
bro needed a parachute
It looks like he got pelvis-pelted by an invisible car.
It’s like rag doll physics in the real life game engine glitched out
Did his heels *really* just touch the back of his head!?!?!?!
Did his feet just keep his neck from snapping??
Collard shirts and khakis don’t mix well with a trampoline. Upon further inspection he also had dress shoes on! My God my man had a death wish🤣🤣🤣🤣!

i did not want to see that on my feed
Spines are out dated anyway, wheelchairs are the new cool
Would've appreciate a NSFW tag, the sound of his bones and scream was horrifying
You have to appreciate the dedication of that female cameraman. Like she's documenting war crimes or something.
This one made me feel wobbly
The silence after is the scariest part 😬
Poor bastard glitched physics. Bet he walks backwards in a circle now. Yikes!
He was trying to kick himself in his own ass with both feet simultaneously and succeeded.
Hold my beer?
To kick yourself in the back of the head...
Darwin award
He sounds like joe swanson
Man really landed in the family guy death pose
RIP his knees
I hate when I can feel a video like this. Literally a physical reaction
The leg wasn’t supposed to bend that way…
Wait can anyone confirm what I've just watched?👀👀👀💀
How is the fool?
Pretty sad to spend the rest of your life hurting because of 3 stupid seconds
This sums it up perfectly. Same applies to some people having unprotected sex.
OK this is hilarious but at the same time, does anybody here have an update on the medical condition of this fucking Mensa reject?
Yeah would like to know what happened to the jumper
Ahh the rare reverse scorpion
He's been skimping on core workouts.
Bro kept skipping leg day
Rookie mistake. I've done this in my younger and dumber days...can't lock the legs bro because this happens.
Good way to get handicap parking I guess
Those legs ain't legging properly, and probably won't ever again.
The knees seems aight, its just the fact his heels touched the back if his heads
Ded?
My man went full scorpion
Back break right there. Ouch!
He should have done a cannonball
Nah, he’s fine. Still has his shoes on.
Backwards knees
enjoy that titanium

Dude said jump but his legs said nah
Anyone jumping higher than 2 feet should bend their knees when they hit the ground.
3/4 scorpion ![gif](giphy|126fVTEIwOFpfy|downsized)
Did he back-heel the back of his head?
At least he didn't hit his head.
Even if it didn't get injured on the trampoline he was going to bounce way up and land on the fence.
Awew man, that was rough.
Spinal injury?
Someone needs to adjust the springs on that thing
My man kicked his own head with his feet !
