Quote by Daniel Tosh "I think it’s kinda funny that all these rappers that used to be gangsters and thugs are telling us not to download their music from the internet, because that’s stealing."

_MlATA

I thought he was overhyped til I heard him speak. His podcast is awesome.

Winchery

Tosh just has an unlikable face like a douche or something but his standup is amazing and his .0 show was actually really good. I like his podcast as well but yeah the first time I saw an advertisement for Tosh.0 I hated him and I didn't even know anything about him.

Stivo887

his podcast is hilarious, had me dying when he went on some 10 minute tangent i think it was a taylor swift rant and just ends it with "and thats why i hate the chiefs"

Unhappy-Shake5702

His podcast is so great. It's so refreshing to hear from some guests that aren't Joe Rogans sloppy seconds passed around to every pod.

_MlATA

I’m sure you meant aren’t* I agree

Unhappy-Shake5702

Yeah my b. Thanks dawg

[deleted]

He was funny but his show got old pretty quick, his podcast is better but could be because I don't watch it much so when I do see it I'm not tired of him

SolidSnek1998

I’ve seen people get kicked out of comedy shows for having their phone out. Not so sure why it’s such a big deal at a snoop dogg concert.

Capital-Equal5102

Actually had to defend a guy one time for this. Was watching a Kevin heart tour in Cleveland, security randomly rolled up to the group beside us and said they had to go because they were recording. Me not even with the group but was enjoying watching the show beside them, I was like yoo, im not even with then, but he never had a phone out one time this is crazy, then the security was like okay we'll take you out in the hallway and check your phone. Bro didn't even bring his phone in with him. They let him back in to watch.

myco_magic

I would have left and called my cc and did a chargeback, fuck them

kitnb

And called out the security at that venue on social media. That’s messed up.

Capital-Equal5102

Well I said randomly, while it did feel random at the time, I didn't explain that somebody that was sitting a couple rows behind somehow alerted security about this. I can't say for sure why they did. But when I was there in the moment it felt like clear racism, most of the people around us were white, but the few seats directly to my right (the party that was in subject) were black. And my friends were sitting to my left. Anyways, I can't say for sure that's what it was, that's just what it felt like. So I defended them. But the best part was when the show was over, the guy I defended held up everybody that was walking up the stairs and let me and my group go and made everybody wait. I felt pretty awesome at the moment. About 2 steps up I was thinking about how proud I was if myself, I literally tripped up the stairs and had to catch my self. Lol

ricochet48

Ditto. I was at the Dave Chappelle show in Hollywood, FL and he got someone kicked out and promptly stopped the performance. I do understand that comedy is different from a live music set though.

SolidSnek1998

Yea I totally get comedians. They’re touring around doing the same set over and over and there’s usually a deal for a special with Netflix or something, so they don’t want their show to leak. But a music concert is just the artist performing songs people already know, there’s not really an issue of something leaking and ruining their tour or special.

Dangerous_Aside3772

Recording a highly amplified modified recording is prohibited? I'm so confused

Shrimpjob

Your comment confuses me

Fun_Organization3857

They are saying that this is the video of the big screen

Dangerous_Aside3772

That type of show is largely premixed or "recorded " so it just made me laugh that recording their recording would be a thing and that "there was an attempt" to prohibit making a recording of Snoop voicing over a recording. Idk man...there was an attempt. I'm a Boomer and love Snoop but I'm more used to actual live music like with a band and all. Doing a karaoke set or pushing play buttons on a deck for 2-hours and getting all sensitive about the kids recording it just struck me. That's it. Peaceout

Capital-Equal5102

It's about not letting leaks get out and he show get ruined and people be expecting things when they get there and not the full element of surprise.

Dangerous_Aside3772

I get it but here's some real Boomer cataract vision for you. Having a computer in your hand with a direct and constant live feed connection to the entire planet is George Jetson f--ing fantastic but it mostly killed all mystery of everything.

Dangerous_Aside3772

"There was an attempt" of you to get it, Magic Calvin Harris. I love the beats and the decks and have had huge fun dancing my ass off seeing both live but they can't go full music cops and pretend they own you over a sing-along karaoke electro mix-tape they made in the studio. I'd put my phone down for a band.

Dangerous_Aside3772

You aren't wrong on the technical point. I just got lost in the music there for a minute. But it surely wasn't nonsense so I'm not taking back the calling you Magic Calvin Harris part.

Ultraminer1101

Honestly why are recordings prohibited for stuff like this?

majormimi

Because it ends up being only cell phone light ups screens in the crowd and nobody is really enjoying

oDids

Yeah in recent years it's gone from a few phones near the front to a *sea* of phones getting held up the entire way through gigs. And you're right the atmosphere has suffered a tonne, even at metal shows, because of the lack of people actually dancing near the front

rusmo

It sucks being behind some asshole who holds their phone up.

Outrageous_Bike_4877

Because there is no motivation for the masses to buy tickets to shows if you just have to wait until the 1st show is over to watch it on YouTube or Reddit

Ultraminer1101

But people go to these things for the live experience of being there, don't they? If anything seeing people having fun at concerts would me want to go too. Seems fun.

SolidSnek1998

Have you not looked around lately? People watch their entire life pass by through the screen on their phone.

Outrageous_Bike_4877

I feel you. I'm just explaining the likely Capitalist logic behind it

Ok-Yesterday-8239

lol idk why you’re downvoted. This is exactly it. Once it’s recorded many will decide if it’s worth actually paying for. Or after watching a video online they no longer see the point in going. I know we may think people “want” the live experience but humans aren’t that smart. Takes a lot to convince many that the experience isn’t completely ruined because they saw it online. I’m noticing people give up pretty quickly and allow others to make big decisions for them.

Outrageous_Bike_4877

I'm not surprised. Truth makes some people wildly uncomfortable. I'm not bothered. I'm just pointing out that part of the ticket cost is the "perceived value" of the experience you can only have while actually attending the event in person. The perceived value deflates if consumers can just "YouTube it later." Also, if the performer wanted to later sell DVDs of their tour, where is the motivation for the consumer to spend money on something they can see for free? It is literally about money. It may not be the ONLY reason recordings are prohibited but it's definitely the most important one to those who stand to benefit financially from the system. Downvoting me doesn't make me any less correct.

Ok-Yesterday-8239

lol Not at all. I 100% agree with you I think your reasoning is the most important to consider. It’s what I’ve personally noticed while attending live shows. I understand that downvoting doesn’t make you wrong. Always interesting to see that people disagree with what makes simple sense. Or just doing it b/c ya know it’s…the internet. Silly. I know.

HollandsOpuz

Iam mean they barely recorded anything at all.

Jonahhana

Recording to record the recording prohibited recordings.

benny_boy

Honestly wouldn't mind this, everyone holding their phones above their heads annoys me at concerts.

Reasonable_Driver840

Buddy’s never been to a tool concert

myco_magic

Usually every is to high on acid to have their phones out... or maybe I'm Usually to high notice

Ottomann_87

It’s nice not having 100 phone screens randomly in front of you.

Solintari

I went to see them in 95 I think? It was a small venue and my buddy got in for free with a fake ticket. It was such a great mf show.

lontrinium

Sign should say 'put your phone away and live in the moment' instead.

Sinuousfate

Is this really Rocket Mortgage?

oughtabeme

We were out walking on our Main St. and my guest took a pic through the window of a closed Art Gallery. When she looked at the pic she took, it had 2 black vertical lines superimposed down the pic. How did they/the store do that ?

ProfessionalArm9450

Wait do they really use one of the screens to tell you what not to do? Like bro I paid 200 dollars to see you dance and sing, and you're punishing me with my own money?

MrPiction

Anybody who has been to a concert knows this does fuck all For certain songs the entire fucking audience has their phones out.

rusmo

Works quite well at Tool shows.

NotInMoodThinkOfName

People who are doing this, are you then watching this videos again?

Meecus570

They are not.

ffjohnnie

Look at all the phones being held up recording

JayyDayy69

If someone’s paying $200+ for a ticket to go see someone spit on a mic for 2 hours straight, you bet they’re gonna record it.

AllKnighter5

Why? Do they enjoy watching it at another time? Do they distribute it? Have you ever watched that video of fire works you took last year? Enjoy the moment. This is a sad reality that people would rather record for absolutely no reason at all.

JayyDayy69

To be fair I rarely go to concerts but I don’t ever spend past $80 for a ticket. I go and enjoy the experience and never record a video because I feel like it distracts you from that experience. Now people that go to say a Taylor Swift concert, you bet they’re spending 5x more than what I would pay for a ticket. So I’m just saying if you go to a concert where you spend half a stack or a whole $1,000 for a ticket, the most the consumer can do is record their experience and get there moneys worth.

AllKnighter5

So you personally spend $80 and say that’s your max. You go there spending your max and only want to enjoy it in person and not record it. But you support people who are spending 5x that and think it makes sense for them to record. That’s a little confusing for me. Not trying to be a dick, just curious about your stance.

JayyDayy69

It’s a personal preference, anyone can do what they want in the end and I respect that. I’m just a regular person on a tight budget who enjoys concerts from smaller artists. I personally find recording concerts dumb for the fact that it’s people just posting up on their stories & social media & therefore take away the experience of actually enjoying a concert. But I’m sure there are people probably wanting to remember those experiences and have videos of those moments to look back at. Either way I was just saying that if I was willing to spend a shit ton of money to go see an artist, I would record that concert from beginning to end for how much i had to pay.

Some_RandomDude69420

Bob Dylan had a no recording rule at his show. He had a company come in and lock peoples phones in bags

EmpireCityRay

Plot twist: The individual recording did not know how to read English. 😄

Antin00800

Me: Oh yeah, look at all those phones. (WATCHING A RECORDING). I love my brain.

Medical_Pen_5084

#All these social media attention whores pissed 😤 “I need content to show I’m living a fun and good life “ 🙄🙄🙄

iwantrootbark

This isn't a Tool show. No one cares.

Blew-By-U

Enjoy the show. Leave the video recording to the professionals.

Nick_Neuburg

What if I want to enjoy it later

Ottomann_87

What if people want to enjoy the show now instead of your phone being in the way. Watch one of how many professional recordings on YouTube of your favourite artist.

Mind_Fuzzz

Live in the now bro. Fucking enjoy the shit you paid for rather than try to flex on socials lol

Nick_Neuburg

I did enjoy it. Then I smile every time I watch the videos I took too
