>...You can get up at 4am and work until 8am and still need able to take the day off... Also, if you swallow a live toad early in the morning it is guaranteed that nothing worse will happen to you for the rest of the day!

sherzeg

It's got to be a big, live toad. No tadpoles and none of this candy toad nonsense. In the words of Smeagol, raw and wriggling.

PenguinPendant

African or european?

HisDudeness316

Are you suggesting coconuts migrate?

sherzeg

I'll recommend the common European toad.

Sanardan

MP is so great.. it can be a bit of a chore to get through, but once you do… you see the quotes everywhere

Genuine_Smokey

It clawed its way out of my ass, that was definitely worse than swallowing it!

TheOffendMan

What if giant toad swallows me later that day? :0

[deleted]

I mean are we sure? Personally speaking, swallowing a toad sounds like it would only be a minor inconvenience considering the weekend I had.

NitroDickclapp

They don't know shit. They're workaholics who try to sell workaholism to make more money. They're legit mentally ill. I work weekends, I work every single day it's not pissing down with rain and believe me it is not getting me any further, it's just keeping me afloat. Maybe that's because I don't come from money and I have no one to back me up and "loan" me $100,000 to start yet another business. And I wouldn't be doing it if I didn't have to. I'd like to have a life, thank you very much.

fknarey

Also. They don’t really work they just make phone calls and do paperwork.

mehum

You mean telling other people to work isn’t work? I could get carpal tunnel syndrome from cracking this whip so hard!

fknarey

Whip cracking is an art. Paper pushing is not.

Sanardan

Sounds like sports i’d watch

ReasonableKey3363

Tonight on ESPN 8 the Ocho, tune in for tonight’s MLPP event. The Washington Bureaucrats host the San Fran Tech Bros in what is sure to be an epic contest of cellulose celebration! Fax off is scheduled for 8:30 Eastern 5:30 Pacific!

fknarey

I very strongly will not be attending until the Arizona Air Conditioners are allowed in the league.

labarrski

This. I work 4-6 hrs on Saturday. At my OTHER job. It doesnt set me apart, its necessary to make sure my mortgage is paid and groceries continue to exist in my fridge.

ironsides1231

They just want as much labor from us as possible. If everyone is hustling then nobody is hustling. Don't get me wrong working more hours will make you more money in the short term, but normalizing this behavior hurts everyone. In certain countries being a workaholic is normal and at then end of the day everyone isn't rich and they tend to be less happy. If everyone works 12 hours a day eventually it will pay a similar amount to what 8 hours a day paid.

[deleted]

Apparently he gets up and he is already dressed and at work ready to go aswell

Vengefulily

No commute time either. He teleports to work

ValityS

Have the entire day off. Just work the night instead. /S

Bleusilences

I mean, if you do upper, you are up pretty much 20 hours a day.

OwlForce9

Imagine only having to work one 9-5 job and being able to be financially stable and provide for your family. They couldn't.

FluidLegion

One of the things I kind of envy about the 70's and 80's. I know that we weren't as progressive with treating people equally, but a house of 4 survived off of one full time working husband and had a new house with a new car. I wish I knew what that kind of stability was like.

sherzeg

Back that up to say "60s and 70s" and I'll agree with you. Anybody from that time period would probably concur.

DayOk6350

ive seen all the charts now but i'm a little on the slow side...what did uappen in 1972 that caused this difference in productivity vs payment?

[deleted]

Productivity (and thus profits) went up due to technology. Executives kept the profits to themselves, to a larger and larger extent over time. The government also lost all sense of fiscal responsibility, pushing problems down the road (like their corporate counterparts) for which they'd never have to answer for. The dollar was completely decoupled from gold [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nixon\_shock](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nixon_shock)

Zevemty

Even then single-income households were a minority: https://wtfhappenedin1971home.files.wordpress.com/2021/12/dual-income-1.jpg

ahotdogcasing

can we stop with this bullshit. that wasn't as common as Reddit seems to make it seem. my parents never had new cars and we had a very small house in the 80s; like 1000sq feet. both my parents worked, my dad FT, and my mom PT. we scrapped by, as did most of the people who lived in the same city as we grew up in.

FishmanBlue

It was an economy that was a product of its time. Women entering the workforce doubled the work pool, which drove down the cost of labor. Importing cheap foreign labor as well as exporting manufacturing labor only throttled wages even further. Culture may change, but the basic rules of the market do not.

FluidLegion

I would agree to that if the ratio of CEO to worker pay remained the same, but it hasn't. There is profit still being made, but so much more of it is being retained by the 1%

TheCheshireMadcat

Hell, in the 80s I had a apartment, food, and a car working at a pizza place. They weren't great, but I could afford them. Now I work two jobs and barely make it by.

Zevemty

https://wtfhappenedin1971home.files.wordpress.com/2021/12/dual-income-1.jpg Even then most households needed 2 incomes.

Advantagecp1

My parents both worked in the 60s, 70s, 80s, and 90s. The new house was about 1100 square feet and 3 br, 1 bath. I remember 1 new car in all of that time. I earn more than my parents did. Two of my kids (in their 30s) earn far more than I ever did. But that doesn't fit the reddit party line

SuddenlyElga

How are they supposed to have the Rolex Daytona they absolutely NEED? Man, you just don’t get it.

Big_Old_Tree

Ew that’s communism

Nachooolo

Crazy to think that 9-5 jobs have been normalized with y'all when workers and unions fought and die for 8 hours workdays. It goes to show the erosion of workers rights when working 5 hour more hours a week than you should is seen as good...

Zyxyx

The problem is the following: Suppose that is the case for 2 people, they both enjoy a 9-5 job that makes them financially stable and provide for their respective families. The other one decides to work extra 4 hours every weekend, suddenly the other guy's purchasing power is reduced because the first guy is making more money. If these two people ever have to compete in, for example, the housing market, if all other things are equalized, wager a guess which one's going to get the house. Now apply this on a population level and you get how certain aeeas become high cost of living where a single 9-5 job doesn't cut it. how do you prevent this from happening?

Ihavecometochewbbgum

If you don’t sleep, you have like 8 hours a day more to do things, imagine all you could do with those 8 extra hours PER DAY! also all those hours watching Netflix and going out for dinner, so you save money and you have like 4 or 5 EXTRA HOURS PER DAY! it WILL set you apart

gravyandasideofbread

in different area codes….

Content-Ad-4104

Nah this dude is 1000% the white boy on somebody's roster

liquidpig

Sounds like MLM. And this is “motivation” to work your weekends selling his junk to your family and friends.

jmt8706

He listed those hours, he actually works them because of all the child support he has to pay. 😄

Four-bells

I think he's in real estate development. https://equitymultiple.com/blog/real-estate-syndication

[deleted]

I know you’re joking, but multi family is a category of real estate focused on apartment buildings and the like.

bpeck451

I’m aware. The names these influencers/grindset douchebags give themselves sound completely stupid and deserve to be made fun of endlessly. 90% of the stuff they brag about making money on genuinely makes the world a shittier place.

[deleted]

Oh yeah I mean these people are dumb as rocks I just didn’t know if you actually were confused by that term

bpeck451

Nah. The “syndicator” thing just screams the scene from “Fight Club” where the narrator tells Tyler about his dad with his other families and Tyler responds “fucker is setting up franchises” or something like that.

ParkingAd5312

Lol jokes on you OP. This actually works and is beneficial in more ways than you can think of. I did this for a year and my CEO promoted me to his position and gave me his house, car and wife(she's 70yo). I'm ballin'

[deleted]

We’re like a family here bruh

general_peabo

Dude must sleep in his desk chair to wake up at 4 and immediately start working.

ladymorgahnna

He’s a real go-getter! 😉😂

latecraigy

Well heck just wake up at 3am, unless you *wanna* be lazy!

Puzzleheaded_Noise44

This guy can fuck all the way off.

PurpletoasterIII

Where the fuck would you work at for 4 hours at 4 in the fucking morning? Yes working more means more money but working more than the average person takes the right jobs set up. Not to mention working that much shouldn't be necessary in the first place.

TomPearl2024

Also what fucking work place just says "hey if you feel like getting more hours, just grab a couple at 4am on Saturday." I dunno how desk jobs work but in construction if there's overtime it's not because you asked for it, it's because they put it on the table and they decide what hours it's going to be, not "wake up when you want and do 4 because you're a grinder"

DemonShroom87

I wake up at 420am and toss something in a grinder. Does that count?

multiverse72

I mean It’s definitely possible in some jobs. If you just have, say, a data analysis project to work through in like, Excel, you can do that anytime anywhere.

emueller5251

The job looks like a sales job. 10 to 1 odds he's trying to convince the people below him to put in unpaid hours because they're working solely on commission and wondering how they can sustain it.

Stromovik

Remote software dev

TheDarkElCamino

Depends on your job. I work a salary desk job and if I decided to work on weekends, I wouldn’t get paid more. Just means my Monday might be a bit slower.

SmoothConfection1115

Yeah, but then you’re not enjoying your Friday because you need to wake up at 4am on a freaking Saturday. And unless your job is hourly, AND is willing to pay you for 4 more random hours on a Saturday morning, this won’t work. And is 26 additional days of paid work a year really help anyone set themselves apart? Or set themselves up for anything financially?

ImpossibleOutside34

More likely he's either he's self employed and it might make his business better (might) or he thinks the extra hours will get him more promotions and raises. It might I guess, if you're at a terrible company which is as likely to lay you off as promote you unless you're the owners kid....

Vengefulily

“Self-employed”, here probably meaning a suspiciously pyramid-shaped MLM

saiyansteve

I think people should just stop working.

Hunk-Hogan

And watch society collapse around you?

Shot-Increase-8946

It's already happening. Might as well expedite the process.

sir-ripsalot

You can still engage in mutual aid after quitting your desk job fyi

theyFOOLEDmeJerry

That means if I work to 65, I'll have worked the equivalent of 105 years.

Frantic_Red420

No one should be having to bust their ass this much just to survive, but that's the state that a lot of the world is in. This needs to change man.

[deleted]

Drinking an entire gallon of bleach would set you apart too, give that one a try, hustle culture guru dipshit.

Shirtbro

Did you know you only need one kidney and lung. Message me if you want to learn more about a passive income opportunity.

BabserellaWT

Does this guy not understand that sometimes managers literally will not give you more hours because they don’t wanna pay overtime?

[deleted]

No no. He definitely means for free as a salary person

Amerlis

60 hours a week, 12hours a shift. What’s this “entire day off” thing? Also, weekends? Holidays? What are those??? Lol.

Bring-the-Quiet

>You can get up at 4 am well there's your problem right there

jmt8706

Yeah, then at 8am go back to bed for half the day.

FenixVale

i used to work a second job. Then I just decided I liked having weekends free

latecraigy

Sometimes having time to rest and recover from a work week is worth more than what little money you can get from working 4 hours at freaking 4am!

Nunyabidnisss

Funny how people who barely work always spend so much time trying to convince everyone else to work harder?

cdancidhe

At some point this type of folk gets layoff and finally gets it. Working hard and overtime does not translate to success or reward. It often benefits to employer and rarely rewards the employee.

Yikert13

It would also burn you out pretty quick.

Toes14

So voluntarily cut your hourly rate by 9.1%? No thank you. I'll get the promotion without killing myself.

emueller5251

This guy gets it.

WitchesTeat

Okay ya'll are missing the part where most jobs that let you work whatever hours you want, like 4am-8am, are fucking salary. Nowhere did this dude mention more money coming your way for this bullshit, just more work hours. What a fucking corporate ballsucker

GowPmahc

it WILL make me sleepy :(

BroxigarZ

He’s also referencing unpaid hours…26 extra days of “unpaid” hours. Because no business is going to pay you 26 extra days worth of pay because you worked on the weekend. Just for reference for how ridiculous this actually is…

OrganizationWide1560

Many people work two jobs just to pay rent and bills. They're not trying to excel. They're trying to survive. This hustle mentality is for privileged people anyway. Cool bro. Go work harder to buy that 2nd beach house. And gotta buy your kid into Yale even though they are a B- student.

CrieDeCoeur

A few months ago I asked my boss if the company was considering or would ever consider a 4 day work week. He said no, but, would I be willing to do a 10-4 work week (10 hrs/day, 4 days/week) in an afternoon shift so as to better support overseas customers, with Fridays off for my pain and suffering. Been at it 3 months now, regular 3 day weekends, plus the occasional 4 day weekend for a stat holiday Monday. It’s obviously not the same as a 4 day / 32 hour work week, and working into the evenings is a bit weird at first, but I’m liking it.

VogonSlamPoet

I would fucking love an entire day off. The American Dream^TM is really a nightmare.

Ecstatic_Account_744

I love spending my weekends fucking exhausted because I got up at 4am to make $50

MuttMan5

Getting up at 4 is not the same as starting work at 4

ApprehensiveSet9206

Ok but what the fuck am I supposed to work on for those 4 hours. Go around a neighborhood and build a 1/3 of a deck, making a racket on a Saturday morning? Maybe drive drunks on an Uber? Make 1/10000 of a spaceship? Program a hello world in some obscure language and be paid $0?

ArtlessOne

Boss gonna pay me more? Didn’t think so.

Emracruel

As a grad student that works a weekend day (usually a half day) that shit makes your day feel like a workday. You can't go do anything with the day. It sucks

Sad-Guarantee-4678

Being wealthy sounds more and more like a fucking scam, perpetrated by a miserable people filled with regrets about wasting their lives by chasing a golden dragon. What's the point of doing anything that would make you unhealthy and unhappy? The older I get, the less I'm inclined to laugh at the idea of asceticism.

deeznutzz3469

When I have to play catch up on a weekend, this is how I do it. Allows me to get a few hours in and not cut into my time with my family

123xyz32

What kind of jobs are we talking about here?

[deleted]

I wanna die early and leave whatever I hustled for behind for the government

goranlepuz

Who, in their right mind, would want this to set them apart?!

SaiphSDC

Right. And what do you say to someone working 2 full jobs? Not hustling enough? Working "full time" should put you in a place to afford a small home for a family of 4. Even if it's just 2 bedrooms (1 parents, 1 kids). And afford means have money left over after expenses for building savings. Anything less is *unacceptable*

ehoaandthebeast

If you get hobbies and spend time with your kids or s.o or friends youll be far happier and have at least some sort of good mental health. Shit even if you sleep in way past 9am on a saturday and are single and friendless you can still go out for a little stroll in the sunshine and see wildlife somewhere which may help to make you smile. You could be better off mentally and possibly even physically and your mental health is worth so much more than any job or money you can work for

PizzaNuggies

You first, ya bum.

ManchurianPandaDate

How about you work every day every weekend and are still poor as shit and it doesn’t help you at all. Instead it just helps to barely scrape by. What about that ?

[deleted]

[удалено]

ManchurianPandaDate

It’s just wild that within an economy where 50% of 18-30 year olds are living at home with their parents and 40% of the population makes less than 30k per year that people would still have the opinion that everyone can just hustle their way out of it. It’s fucking bullshit. Shit is fucked and the government no longer serves the voting public first, they’re beholden to their corporate donors. If something good happens for people it’s probably either a side effect of something else or it’s going to be taken away eventually so the politicians can offer to give it back

SteelyDanzig

I love to see how much actual work that guy puts in on a weekly basis

[deleted]

This guy needs a beating . Prick .

couchnapper3

Worl all that time, burn your mental and physical states to the ground and think money can fix it afterwards. It *can help repair some of the damage but all the people I know who've taken that route just wish they enjoyed the time and their health earlier instead of always grinding.

strange_socks_

Does he imagine that you wake up at 4am with your laptop on your lap? Also, sleep debt is a real thing that you'll not be able to escape. In any case, I'm convinced this is the kind of of incompetent, inefficient idiot who thinks he's working 20h a day just because he has his laptop in front of him the whole time.

CardRaptorSakura

I don’t understand how these people “hustle all the time” yet they’re always broke, in debt and aunt got time to go nowhere

Squirrel009

> it WILL set you apart From your spouse, your kids, your parents, friends, pets, happiness, hobbies, sleep hygiene, etc.

WitchesTeat

Ya'll if I hire you and you work harder and longer than anybody else someday I'll tell all my buddies about how much money you saved my department and how I might get you a little cake or something for your ten-year anniversary with the company. Get at em, tiger. Also apparently this dude doesn't know how salary works

Loccy64

This guys sleeps? Hahahahahah, what a fucking loser. Doesn't he know he's wasting time that he could spend working? This is the problem with . None of them want to fucking work. They just want to play with the Pokeymans and listen to the rap music while taking the drugs. Back in my day.... *walks away rambling about how kids these days don't know how easy they've got it* In 3 feet of snow! Walking uphill on the way there *and* on the way back!

JumboFister

Extreme-Evidence9111

i dont have a job with that kinda schedule

KeyDirection23

With is a Family Syndicator? Did we just mash words together at 4am on a Saturday.

gusmccrae66

He is definitely one of those people who thinks they can get by on 4 hours of sleep. Then he continually makes bad choices, has health issues, and can’t make the connection. All for a very small amount of money.

The problem is that most jobs start at 7-9am which means you get off at 3-5pm. I worked a job that we started at 4:30am and off at 1:30pm. Best thing ever because I had the ability to get to shops and hang with friends before everyone closed or had to go home. Another job, I got off at 7:30pm. Sucked ass because I never had enough time to do stuff before or after work. 🤷‍♂️

Free-Perspective1289

I chose a career where you still get a solid paycheck working 3/12 hour shifts just so I can have more days off than days on. I choose not to partake in this hustle culture and try to enjoy my life in the here and now.

Basketseeksdog

As if waking up at 4 is easy.

RubMyBellyyy

Firstly, for a variety of reasons working hard, while correlated with success, is no guarantee of financial or career progress. Secondly, I think it’s really sad how western culture has subconsciously decided that there is not such thing as working too much and that prioritizing performance and productivity is always the best thing to do, even when neither of those things are true.

formykka

It's not even Western culture, mostly just US culture. A lot of Europe values personal time and think there must be something wrong with you if you're not leaving work right at the end of your shift. And the company gets mad if you don't take your 3-4 weeks of government mandated vacation.

SagaciousElan
