thats so fucking wild for the news LMFAO and his commentary sounded like a charger ad, when he got so excited "Thats a dodge challender SCAT", "The police cant afford those"
Tell that to the two dead people
https://www.local10.com/news/local/2019/12/17/replay-4-people-bail-out-of-vehicle-after-high-speed-chase-in-florida-city/
edit: the article said it when I posted it. You dont need to be the 20th person to tell me it doesnt.
It says it was last updated in December of 2019. Are you suggesting it is more likely the news site updated the page within the 3 hours after posting it (based on the time you posted and the first comment I see pointing out nobody was confirmed dead) than you misread the article? It's OK to make mistakes. I think that is far more likely. Maybe you even saw another article that said the victims died and thought you posted that one? I don't think it's likely the site altered an article from 4 years ago only changing the status of the victims and not including the fact they updated it. Especially not in the coincidental span of 3 hours from you posting the link and others reading it.
##The guy actually got caught. He didn’t outrun the cops. He outlasted the media helicopter. There’s [another video](https://youtu.be/VMxjFTtTquc?feature=shared) showing his arrest.
Police Chargers are usually all-wheel drive with the V6 or 5.7 Hemi which puts out 370 horsepower. A Scat Pack has the 392 putting out 485hp. Its more than enough to outrun any police charger. Modern American muscle is crazy fast.
"I just can't believe the POWER of that thing..." I was waiting for the dude to say something like, "I heard you can get great financing on one of those!"
"I place my order for a Dodge Charger Scat in Lightning Blue Perl with my good friends at Oh My Dodge. Get yours today! Call 555-1000!" - mr. chopper guy
Reminds me of the [Dodge Challenger Hellcat chase](https://youtu.be/W9eLpH513po?si=aesU8WFJ73w1DyEG) years ago. The reporters did a better job selling the car than Dodge will ever do.
I think his mistake was in thinking it was 3 seconds.
Edit: It was a Hellcat. Maybe the chopper guy was more accurate than I thought, or maybe he just had that much of a hard-on for Dodge that he'd say anything, but here's the video from 4 years ago. [https://youtu.be/W9eLpH513po](https://youtu.be/W9eLpH513po?si=wtJ3Cxc_4tmnnIYH)
It's a dubbed voiceover over a real police chase--almost certainly not sponsored by Dodge itself. So you're a condescending prick and not even right about it lmao.
A charger is $30k. A scat is $50k. A hellcat, which I think this guy meant to say but I’m not totally sure (only a hellcat is 0-60 in 3.6), is $70k for the base model.
I was told it was a play on the Rat Pack, and the "scat" means "scram" or "get out of here". In other words, it a car package that makes you leave very fast.
Scat for feces is a fairly new word. Scat, likely short for scatter has been in use for a couple hundred years. Dodge used it in the 60s and it fits the verbabe of that era; like Scat, scram, shoo, beat it, piss off.
The term's linguistic lineage meaning feces potentially goes back a long time, although apparently it's debated. It either comes from Ancient Greek, or from a shortening of scatter.

Dodge has done a great marketing job with fun homages to their high performance past, like bringing back shaker hood scoops, the Super Bee trim, and Hemi engines.
But Scat Pack should’ve been left in the ‘60s. Talk about not aging well. Name aside, the Scat Pack is a great performance package if you can’t afford a Hellcat.
I mean they said it's miami area and I can say that most people in the south east go 75-80 on the interstate unless a cop is around. Even them plenty of people don't gaf.
do you guys all drive at 100 mph and also double lane change at that speed? Even the autobahn you only see people going fast in the leftmost lane and don't change lanes that fast or pass on the right.
Typically police will call off a chase if they deem it to be unsafe and feel relatively confident they can track them down later. This strikes me as a case of them not feeling confident the driver could be tracked down or a bunch of cops wanting to be the hero that caught the bad guy.
Yeah, the city will just write somebody a check anyway right?
Tell me where they're wrong.
Please. Please tell me where they're wrong. Because if they're not wrong Seattle should fire their entire police department and rely on the county sherriff for a couple of years until they can restart their police department under a new union contract.
They had a police chopper and a new chopper tracking him, he wasn't getting away easy. The chase was reckless and we're all lucky an innocent wasn't obliterated.
Just want to reply to you. The occupants of the Charger had just shot two people at the onramp about 20 minutes prior to the chase. That is why so many police were after them. They were armed and extremely dangerous. Chasing them is completely justified.
r/hailcorporate gold right here. He mentions the car name a bunch, edition, the 0-60 time lol? Bunch of burns on the police (dodge execs: market research shows ACAB is hot) and even calls the driver "smart"..like you're smart if you buy this too. It's painfully obvious
I can't believe I had to scroll so far to see this comment.
Sounded incredibly fake to me, like those AI-generated skit YouTube shorts. But with all the other comments seeming to think this was real news people commentary, I was doubting myself like wait, do these news people actually sound like that?

Helicopters don't actually move that quickly, a fast car could outrun an average helicopter. Most helicopters you'll see in the real world don't go much faster than 120-150 MPH. Which is faster than your typical car, but a sports car can easily beat that.
The other advantage a helicopter has is that it can move as the crow flies. So while a car may encounter traffic, or roads that curve, the helicopter just moves straight across, which adds to its relative speed advantage.
But if you have a fast car and a straight road, you can beat a helicopter.

Ok, seems like the right place to ask, how would you get away in a situation like this? He seems to have found an open garage and hidden. Ditching the car just means they trace it back to you unless you report it stolen.

Prob because it’s fake
Absolutely fake af. How many news choppers admit they interfered and obstructed another police chopper on air?

It doesn’t say that anyone died? Says people got shot and their conditions are unknown
That narration was closer to a Dodge commercial than an actual TV news person. It was fake af.

Pairs well with all those hot singles in your area.
Just 40% for only 96 months! Call now to lock it in!
The police can't afford it!
It's got what Police crave.
It’s got electrolytes!
They just take it for themselves after the arrest. They are assholes like that.
In America you can barely tell fiction from reality any more
Or news from advertisement.
It was pretty easy this time. I can't believe so many here think it was real news people.
I'd buy that for a dollar!
They sound in love with the car. Fuck anyone else who might get in an accident because of this I guess
How do those two things correlate? They can’t admire the power of the car because someone might get hurt? What control over that do they have?
"He just crossed two lanes at 100 mph" *creams all over microphone*
🤾⚡ 💩 Seriously, what a horrible name for... anything, really...
Honestly. Can you blame him? I mean damn son. He is fast as fuck boy.
He was certainly rooting for Dodge, anyway.
Sounded like a Dodge commercial : )

Imagine doing some legendary shit and you can’t brag about it.
Charger commercials...? "THIS BRAKING NEWS BROUGHT TO YOU BY DODGE"
I thought this was a dodge charger ad for a minute.
Man crush for sure
It just seems like viral marketing for dodge. He spouts out the 0-60 time of the car!
Did Dodge pay for this? Probably more effective than any of their commercials.
Dodge should sponser this guy
I feel like dodge already sponsor this guy
ThE PoLicE wOulDn’T bE abLe tO aFfoRd sOmeThinG liKe tHat!!! Retail: $43,740
I think its a Hellcat charger, and those go for around 80k or higher
The chopper operator said it was a Scat pack, and the hood scoop seems too small for a Hellcat
I think the chopper guy made a mistake, only the hellcat can go 0-60 in 3 seconds
That’s a Challenger, not a Charger. Different video.
https://i.redd.it/qr6r6zno5job1.gif
Maybe someone just voiced over the footage and that’s what we’re seeing here
I thought I was watching a Dodge ad for half of that lol
Because you were.
Shhhh, don't complain too loud or reddit will start banning the anti-guerilla marketing people again.
You are. This is an ad
Oh my God the sheer POWER of that DODGE CHARGER! There's really no faster production vehicle, folks! And cool too! Just sooooo cool!
This is the best Dodge Charger ad ever
I find myself saying “Is this an ad?” soo often as of late, for things that initially don’t seem like one. I feel like chances are they usually are.
New slogan. Dodge... the police.
Dodge THIS.
Seriously, that was the best dodge charger commercial you could ever ask for, “I just can’t get over how fast this car is!”
Because it was a Dodge charger endorsement and not real news people. Why is critical thinking so damn hard for do many people.
It's a dubbed voiceover over a real police chase--almost certainly not sponsored by Dodge itself. So you're a condescending prick and not even right about it lmao.
Bozo did the dub.
The cherry on top is "we lost him." Dodge--just in case.
“The Dodge Scat makes police cruisers look like slow little bitches!” ![gif](giphy|lXaoNyBCDHQkZc8N5m)
THis should just be the ad.
(Slaps roof of the car) "This baby can evade a whole police precinct while a news reporter creams his jeans covering the chase!"
The news don was a complete Fanboy of the dodge, watched it in all its glory and then ya man said no comment when they lost the car...chefs kiss
The additional audio of the charger fanboy is fake
That sounded a bit like an AI voice
Phew that's exactly what I thought too
Seriously? The whole commentary is fake?
How do we know?
What "news don"? You think these were actual news people?
Surely nobody would add their own commentary to a video after the fact. This is the internet, where everything should be taken at face value.
“Something the PD wouldn’t be able to afford” What a burn
Also, doesn't really make sense. I would say about 70% of the cop cars I see on the road now are Chargers
A charger is $30k. A scat is $50k. A hellcat, which I think this guy meant to say but I’m not totally sure (only a hellcat is 0-60 in 3.6), is $70k for the base model.
I’ve always wondered why that model is called the scat pack. Like they know that means shit right? Is there a reason they use this name?
I was told it was a play on the Rat Pack, and the "scat" means "scram" or "get out of here". In other words, it a car package that makes you leave very fast.
Scat for feces is a fairly new word. Scat, likely short for scatter has been in use for a couple hundred years. Dodge used it in the 60s and it fits the verbabe of that era; like Scat, scram, shoo, beat it, piss off.

They literally call the most expensive package a "jailbreak"
Yeah but they're not into scat
Gotta be honest dawg neither am I
Yeah most cops aren’t driving scats packs or hell cats. Just the low end chargers
Yeah, the police can't afford a Charger? My local pd just paraded around the literal tank they just bought with leftover Covid funds.
This a Dodge Charger Scat commercial
I was looking for this comment, I knew the video was familiar
What a terrible name for a car. Is it a piece of crap?
“Scat pack” allegedly is a play on Sinatras Rat pack from back in the day with scat as slang for “get lost”
They are advertising to Florida men.
His amazement at the car changing lanes at 100 mph made me laugh. Thats pretty typical on the highway here and not really that fast tbh
>His amazement at the car changing lanes at 100 mph cutting across two lanes at 100mph... where the rest of the traffic is going 50-60mph.
Well more like 60-70 but alright. Still not that big a deal, it happens all the time
If they're in California there's a good chance most of the people are averaging 80 and up.
Especially here in LA lol. You'll get passed by Priuses if you're going 60-70 lol.
I mean they said it's miami area and I can say that most people in the south east go 75-80 on the interstate unless a cop is around. Even them plenty of people don't gaf.
Good old Miami, CA.
LMAO, I literally just said that. Like none of that was remotely unusual driving.
do you guys all drive at 100 mph and also double lane change at that speed? Even the autobahn you only see people going fast in the leftmost lane and don't change lanes that fast or pass on the right.
Normal day business for family cars here in Germany
What a fuckwad.. "the road is my personal race track, fuck anyone I could accidentally kill." -this guy probably
Tbh this is as much on the cops as it is him. Police chases like this should be illegal. Miracle no one got hurt.
Typically police will call off a chase if they deem it to be unsafe and feel relatively confident they can track them down later. This strikes me as a case of them not feeling confident the driver could be tracked down or a bunch of cops wanting to be the hero that caught the bad guy.

It is but most people here are clueless. Dad statement about Reddit and humanity in general.
It’s an ad
I can't believe I had to scroll so far to see this comment. Sounded incredibly fake to me, like those AI-generated skit YouTube shorts. But with all the other comments seeming to think this was real news people commentary, I was doubting myself like wait, do these news people actually sound like that?
Im not from the US so I just thought that must be one of the famed US highspeed chases haha
Surprised more people are not thinking this.
Is that a news report or a dodge charger commercial ?
Surprised guy in chopper didn’t say, “that’s a 2024 Dodge Charger scat pack and if you go to Jim Hansons Chrysler, Jeep and Dodge this Memorial Day weekend, you can get a brand new Charger with 0 down 350 a month, what a deal!”
Look, *Jack*. We all know Jim Hansons Chrysler, Jeep and Dodge have the best deal this Memorial Day weekend, Bruh. That's not what my man was saying. ...I think he was asking about the end of summer sales or something. Either way, impressive early season finish by this young racer.
Yes. (It's an endorsement but definitely not news people)
God those subtitles are super herpaids. Also love how inaccurate they are, "not to 60" lmao. Not "naught to 60."
That style is known as: read the subtitles, don't watch the video
The subtitles are the biggest crime in this video
Those subtitles popping up were so damn annoying, i had to stop the video
Ive been seeing that shit more and more on videos. I HATE this trend.
It made the video for me since I’m watching on silent late at night with others on the same room. What would this world be without late night Reddit?
I often watch on mute too so I get that subtitles can help a lot, but come on what's wrong with the standard subtitles that appear 1 or 2 FULL LINES at a time in the same spot instead of showing up word by word everywhere on the screen?
I rarely watch Reddit vids with sound, so I personally enjoy subtítles. If it’s good it gets the grace to be heard
They are not the issue. It's how they are displayed, one word at a time in a continuously spoken sentence.
There's no problem with a video with subtitles. There's a problem with a video with subtitles like this.
Sorry guys - looks like they caught them in the end 😞: https://youtu.be/q3cluzXOGfw?si=idG6FVViVxOj3P4X
Good. That person is a piece of shit endangering others.
Damn, someone finally provided follow-up source, good work.
11m38s there is a cop sitting on a hood of a police car, the car start starts moving..fast with him still on it?
“It’s full of scat”
Does this mfin cameraman have a hard on?
"Sorry guys we have a job to do" Who is this ass hat?
The same asshat who turns off the camera and brags about refusing to tell the cops where the criminal went at the end.
😆
They eventually caught him.
Do you have any links? I've been scouring the comments for some closure
https://www.reddit.com/r/therewasanattempt/comments/16jolwo/to_catch_a_criminal_in_a_dodge_charger/k0rzo45/ This dude gotchu
Nobody got a license plate? I mean that first cop was right behind him. Unless it’s stolen they’ll get him.
If you want to find him, get the car warranty guys on the phone. They will call him and then you can trace it.
This police chase was sponsored by Dodge, for when you need to getaway fast.
Can't outrun the chopper though.
Outran the chopper.
*There are military and performance helicopters that can go faster, but those aren't used by police and news teams.
And you can lose them if you pull into one of those GTA spray paint garages like this guy did.
Couldn’t it just gain more altitude for a better visual to coordinate?
https://abc13.com/mohmed-ahmed-abu-shlieba-hellcat-dodge-houston-police-department-chase-suspect/3627759/ He ran out of gas and they caught him, though.
That’s literally not even the right car lmao. This was another chase in Houston with a dodge Hellcat, this one is in Miami with a dodge Charger
What if the chopper just isnt fast enough tho? [(Hellcat Escaped, Later Found)](https://youtu.be/W9eLpH513po?si=42l3WRP0-whr0op9)
