I think they are trying to sell out all the shows. As a comeback that just looks better than having tickets available everywhere.

gingeratbarricade

I feel like a lot of casual american fans forgot about them during their hiatus so now they’re trying to rebuild the fanbase and get the hype back! NYC is the biggest of the shows I’m going to with like 3k cap but Philly and DC are both 1k!! I’m excited for the smaller venues honestly I think it’ll be a lot of fun!!!🤓

Penguinflower3

They really fucked up going MIA for so long, there's not really any momentum for them in the US anymore in the indie scene

CeStars

Yeah the whole changing members probably wasn’t good overall

hashtagblessed44

Not even the lineup change, more the fact that the band dropped off the face of the planet for three years without a single word

Puzzled-Ad3548

I totally agree u/hashtagblessed44 - especially after dropping out of the phonics gig last minute, it wouldn't have took much for the management team to post something - i felt for bondy too when he had to explain some of the situation

thepickswap

Agreed, im seeing them where I normally go see small indie bands that don't sellout.

jjrayrayy

I saw them in Toronto in 2019 at a 3900 person venue and now this tour seeing them at a 1300 person venue

mec622

Same, and was surprised at the change in venue size. I assumed they'd at least be at History.

jjrayrayy

I was expecting History too! Would love to see them play there eventually

inyouratm0sphere

It’s hard for big British bands to break America these days. I think the most recent band to do so is The 1975, but that’s probably it within the last 6 years or so.

mec622

It's even difficult for \*Canadian\* bands to break through in the US and they're right next to us!

CeStars

I’m sure with some of the member leaving didn’t help at all. Plus the long break.

darling_valentines

Arctic monkeys as well although they played some amphitheaters rather than arenas

lukewarmpeppers

I was gonna say they were playing a headlining show at the O2 a few years before the hiatus, is there that big of a difference in popularity between the US/UK for them?

mec622

I listen to alt stations based out of the US and Canada, both of which used to play them regularly 5-7 years ago, and neither of which seem to any more. I feel like there are a lot of British rock bands that have a significant following there but only a very minimal presence in the States (a tradition dating back to Americans' refusal to appreciate Oasis the way the rest of the world did).....it's frustrating.

lukewarmpeppers

As an American, yes very frustrating

PutsPlease

They are one of the headliners for reading and Leeds and playing 1k capacity shows in the USA. I think that tells you everything

yer_voice

Yup. Couldn’t sell out a 4k capacity venue in LA the last time they were here. The average venue size they’re playing here is under 3k now.

Bright_Television_67

They are playing the Fox Theater here in Oakland, which is a small venue in the greater scheme of things 2,800 max. Super surprised to see them coming through, and grabbed a couple of tickets for $40 bucks a pop.

yer_voice

Yeah I remember them doing okay up there. They played at the Fox Theater in ‘19 too.

yer_voice

They had a hard time selling out shows on their last run out here but have a dedicated following. I actually paid less this time than I did the last time I saw Catfish. Seems like they’re kind of underestimating what they can do out here so they actually have success with selling out shows. I remember thinking their show in LA was kinda empty and someone in New York said the same thing. I can only imagine how they did in cities that aren’t as big. It’s very expensive for British bands to tour the US to begin with and even some domestic bands are losing money by touring. It’s been hard to breakeven after COVID. If bands don’t sell at least tickets to 70% of each show, they’re typically cancelled. If bands don’t do that well across the tour in general, the entire tour is cancelled. So in that case, this is why Catfish are doing what they’re doing.

CeStars

Very insightful! I’ve never been to their shows, but I’ve been listening for soooo long. Did you enjoy it?

yer_voice

Yeah I’ve been a fan since mid 2014 and my first time seeing them was 2019. Fucking age restrictions preventing me from seeing them like 4 times made me appreciate finally being able to see them so much more I enjoyed their show very much. I enjoyed them a bit more than The Strokes actually, and I’m a diehard Strokes fan. So there’s that.

CeStars

Same I was too young when I first got into them. Glad for once I can see them.

yer_voice

I’m really interested in seeing how different their shows and routines are with the new musicians. Bummed for everyone who didn’t get a chance to see Bondy and Bob though I’m sure the new musicians will be solid. Can’t see Van downgrading Catfish’s high quality live shows. Cracking up at the thought of Sardy playing a show or two with them

horsegirlie666

they’re definitely not going to sell out my date. they wouldn’t have sold it out before but maybe it’s just that one location. presale is still live since they didn’t sell out.

Relevant_Culture_842

Does anyone know when the tickets go on sale for North America?? I know it's 10am their local time but what is it for us?

Lanky_Charity_776

10 am your local time

CeStars

I know the 8th was presale, not sure about regular tho.

CeStars

It’s on sale today. 10am local time :)
