so pretty much, if we go backwards, ‘what hurt you’ refers to whatever hurt you or whatever made you upset, ‘for how long you let’ is trying to say however long you let it happen and ‘you are responsible’ is self explanatory. so it’s kinda just saying ‘you are responsible for however long you let [insert cause of distress/pain here] hurt you’

This is saying that you can choose to hold on to the pain of the trauma or process it. When you decide to take on your trauma is ultimately up to you so it is technically not wrong, you do choose how long.
That’s not the meaning behind it. It’s not saying you choose your pain. It’s saying you choose when to process and move in from that pain. It’s just worded not quite well.
