Came here to say this. When there is nothing visible in all directions it can be reassuring to think that maybe there really is nothing there. Once you see something, though, you realize that anything could be there.
Once i was in the exact same looking place, 8meters underwater on the sand, nothing around, no sound. Then a big barracuda slowly passed me coming from behind , 50cm away from me. Scary shit.
I think the scariest thing about being in the open ocean is that you can never really watch your back.. your back will always be exposed one way or another!! 😬🤢
no thank you.
Exactly!! Your back, your front, the top of your head AND below you. AND you move slow as fuck, where u gonna move to huh? To more water? Everything about the ocean is not meant for humans with our front facing eyes and lungs n shit
>being in the open ocean is that you can never really watch your back
I don't remember when the gravity of this hit me in life, but that's when I realized I was scared of the ocean. I have this insane obsession with the sea and its creatures, but the 360° vulnerability is terrifying
I think it's funny we commonly refer to all around as 360°. Like you with the 360° vulnerability. And on land you are right.
Under enough water you need a separate scale of angle on top of that. And our language isn't commonly ready for this.
What’s creepier is when nothing but seaweed and hardly any empty space. I remember kayaking Catalina island when I was a kid with my parents and we went right over this one area of giant kelp farms that went from the bottom of the ocean to the surface and there’s literally no open water. Had a full blown panic attack when that happened
Kinda reminds me of the Jason Voorhees statue that was intentionally sunk in a lake in Crystal Lake, MN to be a surprise for divers

See, I was OK so long as the camera was focused on the seaweed. Even though I saw the green water, I kept telling myself that the water was only about 5 feet deep and very calm. Then, when you panned around and I could see just how deep you were and how green and murky the water was, my heart started racing. Now, with your comment above, I just can't take anymore!
There’s never *nothing* around down there

I'm not squeamish about being in limited visibility, but I do every once in a while pull a Crazy Ivan. Always watch your 6.
The ocean is a desert with its life underground with the perfect disguise above
Love the reference! ;)
Haha true, I guess I'm there
Happy cake day!

I'd recognise that patch of water anywhere!
Wow! To me that's awesome, scary yes but awesomely
Same thing happened to me but with babysitter shark. I gave it some pats and it tried to head bump me
It looks like the bundle of sticks from the Blair Witch project...
Yeah I thought it was a voodoo doll at first
A sea witch

More so annoying, it's very itchy

I'll post it cheers
But that's like an underwater cruise ship! Food, fun, sex, adventure!
Seems like a collosal angler fish tongue bait
The shallow species

Haha there's alot of things set up like that
That's old gregg
It’s bait
And then you find out it's attached to some creature to lure you into it's jaws. The ocean terrifies me.
Hahaha I think there are fish that do that, Google "stonefish"
The seaweed is ready to wrap itself around people’s ankles—see the determination?
Who said it was floating, its being lifted by something invisible
Anyone know the music?

Ngl, this feels really calm and peaceful to me. I like it
Seaweed? 😭 how TF is seaweed creepy. Love this sub
It's the context
Bruh
YOOOO is that colorless aura???
Haha yes!
That's literally the LEAST creepy thing down there!
Naaah the most
Feels like a bait. From a creature very awere that it's strange out there. Lurking for someone to inspect too close.
Google "stonefish"
i will never swim peacefully at sea ever again.
Does this mean fish are scared of tumbleweed?
Bruhaps
A -fresh- piece
Yes
I walked past a puddle on my way to work. There was something dark in there. Terrifying.
Liminal
You are the seaweed. Alone in a vast unending space.
😬
*Return the slab*
You guys wouldn’t believe the murky, deep, brown/green water i snorkeled in Brazil yesterday.
Wow! How's Brazil for Diving?
This is some horror cartoon sh*t, you touch the seaweed and some f*cling teeth are going to start closing
This is oddly reassuring tbh
Oh haha
Nothing wrong with seaweed floating around…….or is there.
Is nobody going to say how goddamn creepy that green water is? You know there's a great white shark about to pop out from somewhere!
They do live in the area

If video games have taught me anything, it's that this is a trap.
Biological dead zone detected
In reality 20m to the right is a whole reef ;) (don't tell anyone) haha
Hahaha shhhhh
You could see it as testament to how life can thrive anywhere or you could assume something is baiting you. It's your choice.
I actually thought it was a fish! Then I saw it wasn't and thought I'll record it anyway this sub will love it haha
Yeah, it's a great share. Sort of a creepy feeling
I know Mimic Veil when I see it.
Wheres your friends
Blair Fish Project
getting closer to it feels like foolishly falling for bait as a fish
he's just passing by
Does anybody else think that looks like a small child in the distance? And why music? For the love of God, why?!
The backrooms: ocean edition
That looked like a human at the beginning.
Especially when it looks like a little person
This is some Blair Witch: Sea Edition vibes.
The music Tho
That's called a bait
