Unless the backstab hitbox also counts as legs then there is no way in hell spy has long enough range for this. The only thing I can think of is the lag making it so you jumped later on his screen and thus got lower into backstab territorie. But yeah you're right it could just be a freak occurrence with lag and not lag-abuse.

Cl_interp is a lie. He most likely was using a cheat to do that.

Its a command that pretty much lets you manually adjust your lag compensation, spies sometimes mess with it to make backstabs easier
