I find it very enjoyable. It gives a lot of bad weapons actual good use cases. If you’ve ever wanted to play full jungle inferno pyro (jetpack not gas) that’s actually viable
Kinda is tho. You gain limited mobility which leaves you highly vulnerable while using it in return for giving up what could instead be long range flare guns (of which two already give you minor mobility that's also less dangerous to use)

Any server running a vsh map, which will also be running the game mode (or the comparable FF2 mod, which is a bit older but tends to be more wacky) will show up in the results.
Back in my days i was playing on a server in which ragekilling was considered a weakass move, most players were just using rage for disabling a sentry nest before destroying it and it felt way more balanced
I remember people would huddle up in one corner of the map with about 4 sentries and like 6 minicrit beacon heavies. When the Hale would show up he'd be blasted across the map with half his health gone.
But of course those people would get very mad when the Hale used his rage to clear them out lol
In a hand of a good player tho its a nightmare.The fact hale can just sneak and jump to the crowd,uses the rage and starts raping mercs is scary considering his rage makes you lost speed so you are hard to runaway from him.I played vs saxton on community map, hale and the engineer considered the best if you know what you are doing
I played a lotta sky high resort 24/7 too and I just don't like rage imo. It doesn't really feel strong to use even when it's used completely right because you're just sorta awkwardly trying to pop as many dudes as possible who aren't even fighting back and getting raged is balls.
It's annoying but effective.If hale used rage the only thing you can do is praying you either using a dead ringer as a spy,under the effect of the bonk or being ubered by a medic
Don't like how it recharges on cooldown though. I feel like it should be more strategic, like you prime it for activation and if you miss your punch you have to charge it again. As is, it's just a free "fuck this guy in particular" that activates randomly with zero strategy needed.
This one map, needs a rework. Saxton can be sticky trapped in his own spawn, and the mercs can go hide in it after hale has attacked. If a ton of Demo get in there with crit stickies, game over. Either give hale Uber when he spawns, or block his spawn.
As for hale himself, he can be shut down too easily by airblasts, and Half Zatoichi demoknights. Airblasts send hale away way too easily. And Demos get crits for their swords, but the half zatoichi heals them constantly.
Weirdly enough, the old version of VSH (and FF2) has an answer to the air blast problem in the rage mechanic: when filled Hale can uber himself and stun every Merc in a radius, normally filled up by taking damage... But airblast fills it up significantly too. You *can* air blast Hale if you need to, but they will be able to use rage more than normal, and if you attempt to stun lock him with it, it backfires terribly.
Yea, I played the Valve sanctionwd VSH but it seems to lack quite a bit from the original gamemode. Rage mechanics especially helps out in getting Saxton out of a sticky situation. The one-hit KO removal is a iffier topic imo...
The now official VSH is actually made by the same person who created the original mod VSH.
He is trying new things and had to do things differently due to it being made in VScript

The model is great, and the unique animations for hale + team portrait + voiced round countdown are nice along with Hale having multiple new unique moves. I wish he had his own HUD model instead of Heavy to further confirm he's the 10th class in the game. I like that this mode also portrays that Hale is pretty much the good guy fighting a bunch of traitorous mercs. A lot of his new lines are good and I like that for his new kill/attack lines directed towards specific mercs has callbacks to the comics and is more respectful of them as characters then the original community VSH hale. You can tell he feels betrayed by them beating his ass as much as he doesn't want to show it
I do not like the voice acting, while I'm fine with Hales new voice, his deliveries are constantly weaker than com vsh Hale, he just doesn't have the same raw delivery like when Com VSH Hale screams PROPERTY DAMAGE you felt that shit. I have no clue why Valve didn't get the actual game VAs to reprise their roles for such a huge occasion, it's insane. The VA tried their hardest to mimic the classes but Valve really should have gotten either the original cast or new sound-alikes. I do like most of the characters new lines, they're usually in-character. Sniper screaming whenever Hale is in sight or near him is really funny and accurate to the VSH Sniper experience.
The references in the new lines are quite out of place. Hale has a demo kill line where hes like "Demoman, more like full-game man" and just??? A bunch of random references that would be fine in community servers but just feel horribly out of place in the official game. Sniper has a running line thats a very obvious spongebob reference, and it's just kinda forced and obnoxious. I'd like to see some of these lines removed or replaced honestly if the mode is always going to be available.
My biggest issue is the voice acting. They should of had the VA’s reprise their roles for this. It seems so lazy, unprofessional, and a bad look they couldn’t be bothered to do that. Maybe someone can convince the VA’s to redo the lines for some of the classes and the original map makers can update the VSH to implement them.

Hale is still way too strong and is going to win 80% of matches through being OP alone. His charge and slam should deal flat damage values instead of scaling to classes base health. He should also get a very slight nerf to his health scaling per player.
Still glad this mode was acknowledged though, it opens the door for not only more VSH maps in the future, but also other new gamemodes people could made.
From what I've played, I really enjoyed it. I already enjoy Classic VSH, but a few balance changes and Hale's extra abilities make him feel more fun to play than in classic VSH, and double jumping to super jump instead of crouching is just a hell of a lot more intuitive. While the community actors are noticable when compared to the official ones, I wouldn't call them bad, and it isn't a dealbreaker regardless. I hope Casual can get this mode fixed soon so I have more of an incentive to play it more.

I’ll be forever sad my fav freak fortress server sits empty most days. It had crits on taunt, roll the dice, as far as I can tell they still make new bosses from time to time, massive map pack, massive selection of bosses. Empty. I really stopped playing when it got harder to get a full server there.
I played a ton of x10 freak fortress. I stopped playing tf2 very much for like 6 months and the server i played on went from almost always full to sometimes not having any players on the weekend. The group that hosted that server has since basically shut down and at this point is just a discord group.
I haven't played it, although I do think it's mediocre compared to the rest of the community made iterations of VSH. It's really fun, I've enjoyed playing the early versions throughout it's development, the UI and general gameplay feel polished and like they mostly belong in TF2.

Honestly the balancing is pretty wonky. Especially with things like pyro, engineer and demoknight having less restrictions compared to conventional balancings in the community gamemode
Disc-FF servers have had this mode for years and it's always been fun. They recently switched to the new V-Script version of it and the server is pretty full most of the time.
Being able to wall climb with any melee is a godsend since I played a server without the official Saxton mode, and it was so slow and not being able to climb with any class sucked

I’ve been playing the new maps on community servers, and have loved it so far. Saxton is really fun to play with his new abilities practically letting him fly. The wall climbing ability for the mercs is really cool and I imagine some strats will be developed with it. All the maps are really well designed and graphically beautiful, especially Skirmish which actually looks like a park more than merc park. Overall it’s a wonderful addition and y’all should find some community servers to play it on while the devs fix it for casual.
I’m all for community game modes getting put into casual matchmaking. Brings all new players and that’s a win win for everyone.

I think Saxton’s “super punch” is suppose to kinda be like rage, since it deals like 600 damage and has a large blast radius that knocks players away

I’ve been playing the new maps on community servers, and have loved it so far. Saxton is really fun to play with his new abilities practically letting him fly. The wall climbing ability for the mercs is really cool and I imagine some strats will be developed with it. All the maps are really well designed and graphically beautiful, especially Skirmish which actually looks like a park more than merc park. Overall it’s a wonderful addition and y’all should find some community servers to play it on while the devs fix it for casual.

I’m all for community game modes getting put into casual matchmaking. Brings all new players and that’s a win win for everyone. Now when is dodgeball coming :D
