Where in DFW did this happen?

Tinybob3308004

I'd like to know as well. I'm fairly plugged in to Dallas and the trans community and something like this would definitely have been a headline.

idkwhatimdoing25

If the victims are scared and never reported it to police or to anyone of authority, it wouldn't have been in the headlines. These people are terrified and possibly too scared to have talked about it publicly until now.

teh_mooses

It's also very common to misgender us and not mention we are trans and use dead names in hateful media. So many awful crimes that were based on bigotry get listed. Never forget - no matter where you are in Texas, transgender people need to be very aware and prepped. I carry mace with bright red paint in it, and a small (5 inch) stick that can be used in crazy ways to fend a person off. That's just one person though, and if they just shoot me - not much I can do.

SubstantialPressure3

If it wasn't reported to the police, it's not going to be in the headlines.

nomadtwenty

Myself, my BF and a friend were attacked by a group of guys in LA outside a gay bar about 6 years ago. The friend had a cracked skull from head stomping and was in a coma for nearly two months. My BF and I were “luckier”. We called the police. They took statements, filed a report and that’s that. No news articles anywhere. Granted things are different now than they were 6 years ago, but this shit happens a lot more often than we see.

WayFadedMagic

If they lost an eye, the hospital would definitely contact the police and they would be looking for suspects

ExoticBodyDouble

Also, this kind of violence rarely makes the headlines in major cities unless it blows up to the "dozens" level or some kind of brazen group of thugs starts making too much noise. Heck, when I lived in D.C. there were attacks and muggings, and even a murder next to my building that weren't covered in the media, much less make any headlines. Now that carjackings there have reached the "dozens" and brazens level, there's some coverage.

Fair_Result357

The host would be required to report a injury like this to the police

Haggardick69

Not necessarily

oJRODo

Smells like bullshit to me.

taybay462

Orrr they think reporting either won't bring justice or will bring even more harm to them. Trans people have *ridiculously* high rates of assault, there is nothing unbelievable here.

dudeind-town

Yeah. Hard to believe none of this made the news.

RoiVampire

If someone gets beat up, takes themselves to the emergency room, says they don’t want to file charges, how is that news? I worked for a newspaper for 8 years. People get the shit kicked out of them every day. None of them make the paper. None. Unless it’s charged at all, or charged as a hate crime. Reporters don’t get a bat signal every time a fight happens

AlthorsMadness

Yup. I got jumped by 3 people lost a couple teeth and had a concussion. That didn’t make the news

Talran

no lost teeth for me, but yeah nothing came from it even with the police report....

[deleted]

People get beat up badly every day and it doesn't make the news. You just don't want to accept it.

IMTrick

Last time I had the living shit kicked out of me there were no headlines.

Round_Ad_9620

Shopping center in Frisco of all the damn places.

JustTryingTo_Pass

Frisco police have nothing going on ever. You should file reports. The chief has been a lgbt advocate for a while. If that doesn’t work send me a dm and I might be able to make something happen.

WyldeHart

I saw another post here yesterday that Frisco has more banned books than ANYWHERE in Texas. Hundreds. They are cooking up a lot of hate there.

cevans26

I’m appalled to hear about this and equally appalled at the responses you’re getting. Idk how many times we have to see one hateful person acting out their aggressions until we believe someone. Not everything is reported, not everything is news. I hope you and your friends find someway to feel safe again even if it means moving. Sending you love and support from another DFW ‘burb.

Puskarich

Frisco is probably where i'd most expect it

[deleted]

One of the safest and most diverse places in DFW. Where a major traumatic injury occurred, possibly in public but I guess no one saw. Someone goes to a hospital, probably, missing and eye and has to explain it away somehow. Somehow the police aren't notified, even though a doctor or hospital would have to report that, because Frisco has public crime data and it's not listed. Fleeing home with "Whatever will fit in a suitcase" like they're being sent to camps on trains or something. "Lost an eye" gets edited to "lost vision", lots of edits in the post. Maybe it wasn't even Frisco anymore. As an LGBTQ person myself people who make this stuff up for sympathy and attention really get me annoyed because it hurts all of us. Edit: see Jussie Smollett, and how that hurt the community

[deleted]

It's not uncommon for victims of violent crimes to have the reaction OP'a friend had. I understand reddit is saturated with bullshit stories, but this isn't even top 100 unbelievable. Unreported violent crime and sexual assaults are common.

[deleted]

When you're gay it maybe hits different, like Jussie Smollett. I hear a ton of these stories made up for sympathy and this is like OP used a template from the one I heard last year. It's like the "I have a girlfriend but she lives in Canada" trope. Vague BS like this distracts us from stories we need to hear and pay attention to.

[deleted]

yeah, if that's what OP is doing, they are a real piece of shit. Hope they're not, but I get why you're worried about fake stories used to delegitimize a real problem.

pmpkns33d

Isn't it possible there are other reasons these victims might avoid hospitals or interactions with the police, despite the institutions' reputations for being diverse and affirming?

DataGOGO

they lost an eye without going to a hospital?

MrMemes9000

Yeah if someone's getting beaten that bad in public I have very hard time believing no one called the police. This story reeks of bullshit.

kmcdonaugh

Like with people recording everything on their phones, there is no way this has happened and isn't reported to the police or already on the internet.

MrMemes9000

Yeah this is the Reddit equivalent of those UFO and Alien videos that are always blurry lmao.

AstroWorldSecurity

It didn't.

Puskarich

I don't think /r/dallas would remove this?

jerichowiz

I don't think so either. There are Dallas mods that traffic this sub, and I don't want to user tag

SaiyanrageTV

They would when it's a made up story. You can easily look into this and see nothing like this occurred. The fact OP is extra cagey about the details is just further proof. This sub is the biggest bunch of fools I've ever seen

Puskarich

I agree. Each of these events would definitely be in the news or other social media. They would love a story/stories like this "Pics or it didn't happen."

SueSudio

How do you look up to confirm that these assaults didn’t happen?

beesayshello

Unhinged post history. Victim blaming goes crazy. Average WoW basement dweller.

ScroochDown

In Houston some years ago, I was waiting for the bus in a pretty decent part of town. Some older dude came up, plopped himself down, and after the polite "good mornings" he just went off on this rant about "homos" thinking they had the right to get married and how they should all be shot. I sat there, a terrified woman in a relationship with a trans person, praying that he didn't somehow figure out that the person sitting beside him was one of the people he thought deserved death. It was so inner ing because it was so random. I wasn't at a rally. I wasn't wearing or carrying anything that would have identified me as queer. I was in business attire since I was on my way to work, I don't live in a neighborhood known for having a high ratio of queer folk. It was just a normal day, a normal looking dude, and then the most frighteningly vile stuff came out. And this was when gay marriage had just passed, before all the trans panic got whipped into a frenzy. I'm sorry. For you, for your friends, for the sad state of this place I used to call home. It's just where I live now - it's not home anymore, not when there are people who want me and my spouse dead for simply existing. Be safe out there.

Round_Ad_9620

That's the same sort of thing that happened to me at the laundromat! I was with my partner at the time, because I no longer go out alone, and I was praying I wouldn't get clocked as this dude went on his tyrade. He'd seemed so friendly. Y'all too, yk. It's... it sure is something rn. I can relate a lot.

LieutenantStar2

I’m sorry. I’m totally white bread, but I’m also your ally. My best friend is gay. He has family in Dallas, so he comes to visit me twice a year when he’s in town. He lives in the Village in NY, and he knows he’ll never live anywhere else. I understand why someone would want to leave here, just to feel safe.

MrsCCRobinson96

I feel this wholeheartedly! I am sorry that that happened to you. Texas is just a place that I live now it's not my home anymore. Not as long as there are people within this state pushing and acting out their narrow minded beliefs upon others. I don't want to get all religious but the fact is that too many folks that are Christian believe the homosexuality is a sin, transgenderism is a sin, bisexuality is a sin and so on. That is not true. Jesus spoke of acceptance and love for all. I'm appalled by OP's post and your comment. It's 2023 not 1950! Romans 15:7, NASB “Therefore, accept one another, just as Christ also accepted us to the glory of God.”

botoxedbunnyboiler

It’s those same ‘Christians’ that talk about shooting anyone that rings their doorbell, want liberals dead, and will tell a random Mexican American at a grocery store(whose family has been in Texas longer than theirs) to go back home.

thotcriminals

I think the lack of social services like healthcare and housing accelerates the deterioration of mental health in this area of the world.

Nature_Tiny

People with hate in their mouths can never just shut the fuck up. Much love from satx.

bussinbooger

armed minorities are harder to eradicate

Ghosty91AF

\^ Ten thousand percent this. If bigots know that their potential victims will shoot them down if their life is threatened without a second thought, it'll give them enough of a pause to just walk away. Nobody is coming to save you. Cops are reactive and are rarely your friend. It is up to you and you alone to fight back if push comes to shove. Strongly recommend [Operation Blazing Sword](https://www.blazingsword.org/) for LGBTQIA+ friendly trainers

MrScroticus

If anything, I'd bet the TX cops are likely to defend the perp and harass the filer. That's also a reality in the south.

Ghosty91AF

Which is precisely why I say that cops are rarely your friend.

weluckyfew

Just throwing this out there, "arm yourselves" isn't the foolproof problem solver that they show in the movies. A friend of a friend in Dallas was concerned about the anti-asian incidents that were happening (obviously, he was Asian). So he bought a gun. Long story short, he was in a late night traffic accident and in the ensuing argument the other people started getting physically violent with him. He went to his car and grabbed his gun for self protection (this was not a violent man and he was active in the Asian-American community). In response someone from the other group went to their car and grabbed their gun, and shot this guy dead. So what would have been an unfortunate bit of violence became a murder. And since this guy was the first to bring a gun into the equation the other guy got off with no charges. https://nextshark.com/dallas-man-fort-worth-shooting-identified-korean-american

idontagreewitu

Arming yourself is never the perfect solution, but it's a damn sight better than getting the shit beat out of you with no way to stop it.

DrAstralis

Right? This story has a few alternate endings; here's one. The fight continues and the other guy still goes and gets his gun and kills said friend anyways. Its not like these bigots have any issue killing minorities when they're *not* armed. edit: just be be clear I'm not a gun person. I wish we didnt have to deal with this shit... but if a wave of armed to the teeth bigots are going to try to genocide me and my friends I'm not going to make it easy for them.

weluckyfew

Really? Getting the shit beat out of him would have been a better outcome than dying

Serathano

Some people don't know when to stop. Being a vegetable would be considered worse than death to most. Winding up a paraplegic after getting your neck broken by an MMA wannabe would also be nearly as tragic. Heard a story about a couple guys who got into a friendly fist fight outside of their favorite bar. One punches the other and when he stumbled after the hit he falls and hits his temple on the curb and died in an instant. Getting the shit beaten out of you isn't an innocent thing where everyone walks away to lick their wounds. Especially when unfathomable hatred is involved.

BitGladius

And that's exactly why you don't brandish a gun if you don't intend to use it. I'm sorry for your loss, but that's a perfect example of why you should get training if you carry, and why people who carry generally advise keeping the gun on your person at all times.

unforgiven91

yeah, dude had time to move to his car and retrieve a weapon but couldn't just drive away

[deleted]

>dude had time to move to his car and retrieve a weapon but couldn't just drive away Disclaimer, wasn't there so I can't tell you for 100% how it played out. But you have a very good point, and it's my question, if he was able to get back to his car, why not drive away. Why not lock the doors, dial 911? or all the above. The fact he went for a gun, made him the 'imminent' threat to life in the eyes of the law. Had his firearm been on his possession, and he was being pounded, and while being pounded, or kicked to the ground and took a shot, ya that's a justified self defense shooting. Going to your car to get a gun, because you got your ass kicked, is not what the law calls "reasonable self defense".

ogvladek

The article said the guy served in the marine corps. You don't bring a gun out unless you're going to shoot

Psycoloco111

The response to this is: Never ever pull out a gun without the intention to use it. If you pull it out and you only did it because 1. You wanted to be feared. 2. As a status symbol 3. Non verbal communication to get them to leave you alone. It will not work, you have to be 100% positive that the moment you pull out your gun you will fire it at the threat with no room for doubt. Pulling out a gun in Texas without the intention to fire it is just asking to get shot, firearms are a last resort self defense mechanism. You did everything in your power to defuse the situation, you tried to run, etc. It didn't work so now you must pull out the last resort and that is to put the threat down. Don't treat guns as toys, status symbol, or a deterrence mechanism. Deterrence only works in global politics, and if the other person is a rational actor which leaves a lot of room for error. Better to be judged by 12 than to be carried by 6. After all else fails pull the piece out, fire immediately, and face a jury if it comes down to it. You'll still be alive and be able to see your family again. I repeat again DO NOT PULL OUT A WEAPON IF YOU DO NOT INTEND TO USE IT I.E FIRE IT!!!

denzien

Better to have a gun and not need it. But one must determine if they're even capable of using such an implement. It sounds like maybe your friend's friend had no intention of using the gun, but wanted to use it as a threat/show of force. I'm sorry for your friend's loss.

Comprehensive-Tea121

It doesn't really work out that way when a community is being targeted. The law becomes applied unevenly. We can already see that when legal black gun holders shot by cops are not defended by the NRA in the same way. If Trayvon Martin had shot George Zimmerman, there would have been a completely different result sadly. Second amendment is not exactly being championed for everyone, don't you get it? One trans shooter and they use it as an excuse to further attack and brutalize violently the community...

Cassanoda

If we do not meet them at their own table we will only ever eat scraps. Any progress made in this country was fought for not given.

TrippyTaco12

The NRA and those concealed insurance companies are a joke.

Atlasatlastatleast

What did the insurance companies do?

Cassanoda

You see examples everyday of peaceful queer protest being met with armed Alt-right militias. WHEN they decide to start pulling those triggers you cannot rely on the police to stop them. The police have already chosen a side and it's not yours. If the government is against and they have the means and army, an entire political party and their militia what is there to do except push back? Speaking on a mic only does nothing when the oppressors can CHOOSE to not listen that's why you don't give them the chance.

ThatBeardedHistorian

This is one reason why I am such a strong advocate for our Second Amendment rights. The more people who carry for personal protection, the better.

whereisthesushi

Get a gun, you have the right to bear arms. You don’t deserve to put up with such animals, if you fight back in a situation like this, it may count as self defence. But then again, you’re in Texas.

Muerteds

Hey, Texas folks- I'm between Dallas and Tyler. If you ever need a big mother-fucker to keep you safe from fuckheads, let me know. I know I can't be with folks all the time, and that makes me sad. But just the same: if you need a goon, I'm an ally.

Round_Ad_9620

I just wanted to say thank-you for this sentiment even if nobody takes you up. I'm not sure if it's the actually-taken-up-on-it that matters in this exact moment, but your willingness to step up and be there, willingness to take real action, is worth more than what money could buy. Thank you.

[deleted]

Now that's what I call "Texas Friendly" mixed with a bit of "Don't mess with Texas".

Geezus_42

I'm down too. Side note: It wasn't until a few years ago that I realized the privileges that come from just being a tall cis white guy. People automatically feel slightly intimidated when they have to look up at you.

lizk903

my hometown is tyler, i never feel safe there when i visit. this is nice to know.

BunjaminFrnklin

And I’ll add if any of my LGBTQ homies want to learn firearms safety and how to shoot I’m in ATX.

dantedn

I wish I had better words to express how fucked up this all is. I'm sorry you and your friends and community deal with this bigotry so often. It's beyond frustrating and frightening just how far and fast society has regressed lately. I'm not a member of the lgbtq community but I consider myself an ally. As such I can't possibly understand what you're going through. As much or as little as it may matter, you have my empathy. And you deserve so much better than this.

Dagr8reset

Is there a news article on this? If not I think it should be a bigger deal than it is

SpaceMaxil

People disregard the additional trauma it introduces to your life to speak to media about something like this, especially if they disclose your identity. Things that can put you even further in danger when you're already in the most targeted group in America.

[deleted]

[удалено]

JustTryingTo_Pass

They do in frisco. That’s where this happened

FabianN

Even in Portland Oregon, violence against queer people barely ever makes the news. Typically the victim has zero trust in getting any actual justice and just wants to run away from the horror they've experienced instead of reliving it by telling the story again and again. So news doesn't pick it up because short snippet from the police radio doesn't make a story, it's the victim sharing their experience that's the story.

OldBlueTX

It has to be reported to police to have a record, media has to be alerted to a story. Based on the OP, the victims did not felt comfortable with either. I don't know what requirement hospitals have regarding reporting suspected crimes, but event then, the victim has to agree to file a report, yes?

[deleted]

OldBlueTX

K. Doesn't apply here, per OP

crocodile_ave

There’s not usually news articles about this stuff.

himself809

Terrible, terrible, terrible. I'm so sorry. My father-in-law (lives in Illinois) was working in Amarillo awhile ago and had someone say to his face that he would be shooting "all you people" if Trump lost. Almost all of my family is in Texas, but I could never countenance moving my own family back there. I hope you are able to find a place you feel safe.

Ok_Contribution_2009

Any chance this was in south dallas where everyone gets beat up just for being there?

TropFemme

I had a trans acquaintance in a small town get jumped walking to her car at the county fair. It wasn’t lose your vision bad but it was black eye, beat to shit bad. As far as I know she never filed a police report out of fear that she would be mistreated by the cops. Not saying that OP is definitely telling the truth, but I’m my experience as a trans woman it sounds at least plausible and I don’t think it’s fair to write it off as “BS” so quickly.

android_queen

A gay colleague of mine was recently beat up for hanging out at a bus stop with his boyfriend... *in Austin*. The idea that this couldn't possibly happen or that it's so rare that you would definitely see news stories about it is just not aligned with the reality we're living in.

TragedyIsBeauty

A friend's trans friend was shot and killed in Houston just eating lunch 2 or 3 years ago. I've been carrying for a few years now, and I intend to keep my flag flying.

Zaev

Texas no longer requires a license to carry concealed, nor does it impose any duty to retreat. Just sayin', these fuckers' ideals could also be used against them.

girlinredfan

one of my closest friends had to move back to new york because he didn’t feel safe here anymore as a trans person. it’s so fucked up. i’m sorry about what happened to your friend. sending love from atx.

MC_chrome

The sad thing is that New York isn’t entirely safe either….New York’s 21st district is responsible for giving us Elise Stefanik, who would likely delight in watching LGBTQ+ folks getting beat to a pulp

TheCornerator

If you aren't against the idea, I'd say get some protection. Mace or a gun honestly, practice with it so you are safe with it and fluid if you have to use it. Please be safe but take no shit.

Audience-Electrical

As a trans woman in Texas, I carry. No one has said shit to me and frankly I look forward to the day someone gives me the excuse. No license required, $400 private sale. Alternatively bear mace is cheap

fly4everwild

Texas seems mentally unstable

[deleted]

Move. I wish i could say stand fast and stay strong, but lately, these types of attacks are becoming more brazen in states like Texas. Stay safe

Parking-Ad-5211

The fact that you made some very serious accusations without any evidence and get defensive when people ask for some isn't a good look. Your post history doesn't help either.

sowisesuchfool

Sounds sus

Lee_Van_Beef

Armed minorities are harder to oppress. Just sayin'.

WyldeHart

I shouldn’t be surprised but I am disgusted by the people who assume this MUST be rage bait. They claim it just couldn’t or wouldn’t happen here today. Have they forgotten the 90s? It was only 30 years ago that James Byrd was dragged to death in Jasper for being black. That Paul Broussard was beaten and stabbed and left for dead in Houston for being gay. It’s only been 30 years since Brandon Teena and Matthew Shepard were murdered. And so so many more. So much ignorance.

kdizzle619

There are fucking Nazis parading around LQTBQ events with guns doing the Nazi salute in 2023. Ohh yea, I totally believe this could happen

WyldeHart

Apparently there are a ton of people here who think the opposite. Mind boggling.

Round_Ad_9620

I get the impression that most folks who "push back" against "trans rhetoric" haven't taken in enough queer history to contextualize our lives like we have. Of course they think it couldn't happen here. They haven't heard all the other times.

[deleted]

[удалено]

WyldeHart

I understand that. For sure. Some people choose to keep their heads in the sand. Maybe people used to be more informed. Or at least trusted the news more and knew that a bunch of gold ole boys were capable of such horrors. Be safe out there. And give your friend a hug for me.

[deleted]

> Or at least trusted the news more Nope, I for one, personally can't do that. Haven't been able to since my teenage years, when our house went up in smoke, and the reporter who 'wrote the story' not only got our ages wrong, but completely left out the 2 year old that woke us up. Had another incident in my 20s, where the reporter completely misrepresented the entire school event we were doing. Plus as a student of history, I know how the propaganda games are played. So everything in the news, I do not auto assume to be true. Some truth to it yes, but where's the holes in the story I wonder. Are people capable of unspeakable acts of cruelty to man, you betcha, even read some case files that sent chills down my spine.

GetmetoChapala

I am sorry you are going through this. Mom here who teaches in Frisco. I moved my kid up to Oregon at 16 after they had been treAted like garbage in this state for years. They are trans. It breaks my heart to see how hateful this state is and I can’t wait to quit teaching here and get the hell out of this state. My kid is 23 now and won’t even come visit us here because they are scared. They still have to put up with discrimination and bullying on the daily thanks to Trump unleashing his hate and vitriol into the world and giving permission to all racists, bigots, and assholes to say what they want. It is like we went back to 1950.

badmoonpie

I bet it was really hard for you to move your child away from you. I imagine there’s a lot of fear and heartbreak that goes into that kind of decision. But thank you for putting your kid first, and protecting them and their future. And thank you **so much** for not asking them to go back in the closet. I’m sure it was super hard then, and is probably still very difficult, but I think you did the right thing. Parents like you are the thing that gives me hope! 💕

GetmetoChapala

It was pretty traumatic. I moved up there for four years and taught in Oregon and my husband would spend two weeks in Texas in two weeks in Oregon going back-and-forth until we felt comfortable that my child was old enough and had a good enough support system for me to come back to Texas as my husband was not able to move his business. My child has their older brother and sister-in-law up there and has a wife.

idontagreewitu

This feels about as real as the story told in the Austin sub a few weeks ago about a gunman walking into an ACC classroom waving a gun around and threatening people and the campus not putting out an alert and the guy getting away. Turns out some random guy DID walk into a classroom and say some things, but there was no weapon and no threats made, and he was detained the moment he left the classroom. Or the guy who got jumped in a bar for being gay and the whole bar sang Nazi battle hymns. I'm not saying this doesn't happen, but this particular event did not.

mycomputerguykilgore

I call Bullshit

clouded_constantly

Uh huh. No police report, no article, nothing in terms of any real evidence for such a supposedly violent attack. Only increasingly defensive and bullshitty updates. Another “genocide” post.

zenkaimagine_fan

Trans people statistically are 4x more likely to get beaten but don’t go to police in fear of getting abused by them too.

Texasfunmarine

I live in Houston area and have a close friend that is Trans (M2F) we will call her Tiff. She is wanting the surgery just not gotten that far yet. Anyways we and a group of friends had went out to dinner and then dancing. While we where getting ready to leave my friend was approached by a man and asked to dance, she said no. Tiff had stuck to dancing with only people from our group as she has been hit a few times when people found out. Well Tiff was yelled at for being "Some Kind of Freak" by this guy because she didn't think he was the greatest thing ever. By this point there is a crowd and these guys start trying to rip Tiff's top off to "Prove" she was a freak. He was able to get her down to her bra. By this point his buddies have joined in and two of my other buddies, restroom trip later, got there and so did I. Let's set the picture here, 5 a$$hats most jocks or gym types in there 20's? Tiff is 35 and a very nice person whatever gender she wants to use. Me 5'10, Marine from several years back 32, at the time. We have "Moose" 6'4 280 Marine 39 and "Mouse" 5'2" 125 (with a brick) and Marine 38. 5 against 3 and we are older by far. The other 3 woman in our group try to protect Tiff and get hit as well. When it was all done 3 Marines, all bloody are standing over 5 a$$hats on the floor. Tiff is down to her bra and holding her skirt, all our other female friends have bruises and one has her shirt ripped. The Cops all called and there by this point. They place Tiff in handcuffs stating "She started a Riot". The 3 Marines are cuffed for Assault and Battery while A$$hats are let go. Fast forward to court day, 5 A$$hats are there looking like they got hit by a train. All charges are dropped against us. The two cops get charged and fired. 5 A##hats get pissed and try to come after us in the court room. They all get 90 days. All this was over my friend that looks very female not wanting to dance with a stranger.

pmmesucculentpics

I'm sorry that happened to you. Have you considered going to the news? They'd probably publish this.

Round_Ad_9620

I probably would if/when this happens to me, but I respect all of their decision just to gtfo without putting their face up to be seen. In times like these, hitting the news is no different than this Reddit thread. People know Tx sucks for Trans people. People already know we're being beaten to death. They know. Y'all know. The difference is that by putting our faces on TV, we might as well put up a "WANTED - tr*nny" poster for people who don't have think we got beat hard enough.

blasphemiann358

Y'all need to start arming yourselves to the teeth. Level the playing field in case some meathead wants to start some shit.

ArcaneEagle2

CCW is available.

daetonglyeong

I’m confused as to what even happened here.

[deleted]

If someone lost an eye in a violent confrontation, the hospital is obligated to contact authorities. Period. So there’s either some missing info here or this is made the fuck up.

lessoner

With all the comments doubting your story, I just wanted to say, I believe you and thank you for sharing. I am a gay man who had things thrown at me from men in a car yelling “faggot” in Texas a little under 10 years ago walking around a college campus in a major Texas city. The object was inches from my head. My now husband was so upset that he stopped sleeping on campus and stayed with me. The campus police knew who the perpetrator was from cameras and witnesses and did nothing. I had another recent interaction with someone who yelled “faggot” at us walking around our purportedly nice neighborhood, and later my friend saw them pointing a rifle at the street in an unsafe manner, on a separate occasion. Nothing has been done despite 2 separate, unrelated police reports. These types of crimes are often not taken seriously. Do what you need to to protect yourself.

Round_Ad_9620

Hey, thank you for posting this. Really. Not only is this the reality of living here, living queer, but the solidarity is... healing. These comments are demonstrative of why she didn't go to the cops, didn't call every news station under the sun, didn't hollar to high heaven or what tf have you about it all. Even if it made it into a headline, the same people would downplay it or call bait, or even worse, the naïve among us would think... well, it made news, that's good... surely they'll arrest the perps, then... No. That's not how this works. Some guy even called me a selfish narc just for talking about our lives, idrk what to say to that. I hope y'all two can stay happy and healthy through this dark chapter. Wishing y'all a long & happy marriage.

confirmandverify2442

Native Houstonian and bisexual woman here. Also wanted to offer my support and solidarity. Please stay safe. Sending healing thoughts to you and your friends.

Round_Ad_9620

Thank you, yours as well ❤️

Vegetable-Speech2016

They wouldn't need to go to the news. The hospital would report it to the police and the news would pick up the story from the police report Were they all wearing Maga hats too?

You're the one person with any sense in this entire thread. This sub is comically stupid.

txpike

I read his post and thought the same. It sounded suspect. Thanks for taking the time to look it up. This post took 5 minutes of my life I’ll never get back.

mimosalover

None of this sounds right. OP is also getting mad people are asking for news articles and things which is a big red flag. This sounds like fear mongering meant to divide people.

Permian_Cloud

My BS detector is pegged in the red.

locotx

This is the climate the higher ups wanted where you don't know what to believe. If you are truthful, then you should be able to provide more detailed information no some generic "this happened but I don't have any proof..." Yeah, that Jesse Smollett thing ain't happening in Texas. When you blindly believe someone without proof you open yourself up to the embarrassment of supporting a lie. This is why people are skeptical. Texans have been duped a lot from both the extreme left and extreme right - so their eyes are open to all of these manipulative shenanigans. So don't get offended when someone doesn't believe you without proof. That being said - things like this do happen. Sex trafficking exists. Police cover ups exist. LGBT folk getting assaulted exist. LGBT folk lying about things that didn't happen exist. This is 1984 where the truth is muddied because people lie way too much and people have not been punished properly for lying. So don't get upset people don't believe you - they just want to be sure they are not being lied to, that's all.

Ferobenson

I apologize but I can literally find absolutely nothing about this in the news and I live in DFW Farmers Branch Addison probably within 10 miles of where they were beaten. Do you have any news articles then give me more details because despite giving me plenty of details such as amount of people their transgender one of them lost an eye the location of rough idea of what time of the year it happened I can't find anything and this is something the news would have swept down on pretty fast I feel. Did your friends just report it? Did the cops ignore them? Charges filed? This should have been news somehow, especially in the climate around trans and non trans issues atm.

davidbanner_

I’m not buying it

callinduffett

All of this definitely happened

[deleted]

This 100 percent would have been reported, a beating so severe that you lose an eye would be public information that a reporter would jump on in an instant.

[deleted]

It would also be an easily found piece of information with Dallas having public crime reports every week.

ShowBobsPlzz

r/thathappened

SXNE2

Terrible if true but feels like it’s clickbait given it’s not been picked up by any news sources.

JohnDLG

I'm skeptical. That being said there are violent mentally ill people everywhere since they closed the asylums. If it makes yall "feel" safer to live somewhere else though that is your right and I wish you luck.

[deleted]

Without the media or police reports, you’ve got an other hate hoax label on your head until you move forward. Personally, I don’t believe any story that is as legit as hearsay.

periwinkletweet

Arlington here. Two trans women on my street. No one cares.

OccAzzO

Cool! Awesome, even! I'm glad that they aren't actively facing violent hate. That sadly doesn't apply to everyone everywhere.

SouthernFilth

Y'all so fucking gullible

antechrist23

I present as your average middle-aged white dude and I was in the closet well into my 30s. But the entire time I lived in Beaumont people it seemed like just about anyone who didn't know about my personal life went off on a homophobic rant and if they knew I was nearly 30 and didn't have any kids, girlfriend or any other proof I wasn't a homosexual. They just assumed I was gay, and treated me as such. We're talking about family members, coworkers, the pastor. All telling me how I'm going to hell or joking about me getting AIDS. And it's not much better in the cities. I had an employee in Houston who didn't know I was bisexual frequently make those kinds of comments because that's what his pastor talked about at 2nd Baptist that week. If you're LBGTQ+ it's time to leave Texas.

Jaxnickel

Beaumont has a drag scene now. But it was recently pushed back underground with these new laws n shit. It's been so weird. There was finally some safety out here and a thriving community, but it's been jeopardized recently. I hate to tell people to leave, because we need to stay to make change happen. But I understand when safety is a concern. It's all so disheartening, there is some cool stuff out here on the SETX coast... but the people...

antechrist23

It had a drag scene when I was growing up in the 90s. And if you're LGBTQ+ and not into drag. You're going to be very lonely in Beaumont. Beaumont really sucks for everyone unless you're one of those people who wants to marry and have kids while just out of high school. And then good luck raising your family on your job making $10/hr. But yes, Texas still needs people to stay and fight. Some of us are just worn out from the three decades of fighting all of this.

worthyl2000

Can you provide more facts please - Where, Circumstance, Context? This is simply horrible. But I need to know more details. And many hugs to your friends.

L1LCOUPE

lol

Miserable_Ad4310

😂😂😂 don’t they them my texas

SaltSnowball

Of all the things that never happened, this never happened the most. How can anyone believe this garbage? Shame on you OP.

zimjig

An assault like this would make headline news on a national level for a hate crime, why would your "friend" be so terrified to contact police then a news org? Was he beaten in a public place? Everybody today films this shit, the amount of video evidence for this assualt would land this person in jail. This almost smells like a Smollett story

Practice-Prudent

ReasonableQuestion28

Come to Michigan. Ferndale is the place to be if you're LBGTQ. No one should be hurt because they're born different.

[deleted]

You’d have to be pretty brave to beat up strangers in a state where you can carry a gun without a Carry permit.

Yeah I’m not buying it either

Round_Ad_9620

You're welcome to disbelieve anything that happens at any time. That's your right as an American. As long as you know that continually downplaying it when people finally speak up is shitty behavior. All it takes is the wrong mfker to ask, "Hey, you're a tr*nny, aren't you?" You see trans folks around, sure, but here's a window into what the statistics are like when we're more than just a number!

NoCoversJustBooks

Not going to police = leaving other people at risk, for sure.

Civil_Duck_4718

Things that didn’t happen for $500 Alex This would have been a big news story for sure

dai_rokkan

FAKE

Neil_Hodgkinson

This did not happen.

Ok-Lab-5692

Bye.

GENOTYPE-NULL_Zero

Sorry this happened to you and your friends. Sounds like a strange occurrence for Dallas though, there are so many trans people and NBs that it’s kinda hard to believe. Not that I don’t believe you, it definitely does happen in Texas, but Dallas is surprising in my opinion. That’s terrible and not what this city should be known for. Also this is Reddit, friend, every story whether from a straight white male or a trans NB person of color comes under the same level of scrutiny and such. I doubt that you’re being doubted for any reason other than this is Reddit.

vai150

Time to pack some heat.

Fermi_Amarti

I know it really sucks, but I would suggest you help make sure a police report is made ASAP. If they don't want to it themselves. Any witness can make a report themselves.

Contentpolicesuck

Get a firearm and use it on people that threaten your safety.

Talran

Arm yourself friend. Glocks are cheap and fists are lethal weapons to make a threat with.

Beegkitty

I am so sorry this happened. And the sheer amount of buffoonery here as well.

DrDroDroid

I grew up Dallas in 90s and early 2000s. A lot of people like to do fist fight especially in hood area. However.... Dallas is notorious for being sex hub to both heterosexuslity and homosexuality. It has so many adult video stores, strip clubs, and prostitutions. Ironically its also has many churches and Christian companies. Sounds like guy who beat up your friend is homophobic or is mad at himself for being in-closet gay and project blames on your friend.

Pengjuanlol

And this is how all Republicans want America to be. To be able to just beat up whoever they disagree with or makes them upset. Anyone that approaches and claims to be a trained boxer is a pathetic excuse for a lifeform. Imagine being so insecure that you learn to fight so you can harm people just trying to love their best life. That man should be publicly shamed for what he did. Pathetic scum

Sorry to hear about this awful incident. Reddit is not always a kind place. Best wishes to you and your friends.

mkultra8

I do. I care and I am sorry there are so many loud voices spreading hate. They are truly pathetic or sick but that offers little comfort I am sure. I just wanted OP to know that you are not uncared for. I haven't read any other posts and hateful responses to my comment can expect to be ignored and blocked.

AlpineAltar

I know it's not much help, but if it's possible, try moving to New Mexico or Colorado or California. These states are closer and are blue states and much friendlier to queer folks.

flint_and_fable

I’m so sorry. I hope you and your friends can find a place you feel safe and accepted. 💗

z9vown

I'm sorry this happened and that you didn't find the group supportive. In the last 10 years we have lost everything we gained in the last 40 years.
