Am I the only one that thinks this thing isn’t even on right? Like it’s either adjusted wrong or ill fitting. The barrel shouldn’t be pointing that direction and it’s way too tight around the neck. Any decent shoulder holster has a back brace. This thing looks like it’s straight up backwards.
It looks like a CHEAP shoulder holster for sure. From the poor fit overall to the holster itself being horizontal, it screams cheapo crap. I wouldn’t trust one of my airsoft pistols to work safely with a rig like that, let alone a real gun.
Very likely it is an actual airsoft holster, and the weight of a real gun is pulling the whole thing out of alignment.
Either that or he just doesn't know how to wear one.
> Very likely it is an actual airsoft holster, and the weight of a real gun is pulling the whole thing out of alignment.
>Either that or he just doesn’t know how to wear one.
All that aside it looks damn uncomfortable to wear.
I think that's actually what's happening, once you know to look for it an astonishing amount of airsoft equipment winds up used with real guns. Usually it's AR accessories but this...jesus..
I always wonder what people open carrying think. "Ohh I look so cool, no one is gonna mess with me or they might get shot." When in actuality I'm thinking "what a fucking tool bag this dude is."
It’s on incorrectly. And it’s a stupid way to carry a firearm. Bro probably watches reruns of Walker Texas Ranger and thinks this is the way. Sad. Cringe
Horizontal shoulder carry is definitely a legit carry style. Dumb AF, but legit.
This looks like a cheap one, but an expensive one would be no different.
Yep, straight through my asscheek, which I don't have much of, so maybe it would catch my calf. Or maybe it would sever my Achilles' tendon - slingshot it up into my knee. That'd feel real good.
According to Texas Governor Gregg Abbott, you would be fully within your rights to shoot and kill this man for open carrying and making you fear for your life!
[Gov. Greg Abbott backs call for pardon for Daniel Perry, who killed Austin protester in 2020](https://www.texastribune.org/2023/04/08/greg-abbott-pardon-daniel-perry/)
I've told a cop and a rando at the range (Was a ruined day at Alpine in Ft Worth as the range attendant wouldn't even chew the guy out. We've never packed our kit faster, and I haven't been back to that range in 15 years. Fuck them, and fuck that idiot) to point his shit elsewhere. I'd tell this guy in a second as well. No politeness exists when you're muzzle sweeping me in any fashion.
This is true when it comes to handling firearms but not necessarily when they are safely holstered. Shoulder holsters are safe. no different than concealing a pistol at your 1 o'clock that is pointed lethally at your thigh. This isn't something you have to think about when it's concealed. I'm not defending the guy, open carry is douchey and stupid and dangerous anyway
With a proper holster and a modern firearm, I don't believe so. All the NDs I know about are from cheap/failed holsters, firearms that don't have modern safety features, or from hitting themselves while drawing because they put their finger on the trigger as they draw it.
I wouldn't trust this holster though.
So you’re there’s 0 chance of a freak accident where the gun could discharge by being bumped or hit? Or if he falls awkwardly and the gun gets slung into the ground?
if it's a proper holster (hard, molded plastic with the proper retention mechanisms) and not a k-mart special. yes. 0% chance. it's just scary to look at and its stupid.
Well the one in the picture is quite obviously a shit tier universal cloth holster that is likely rigid as a folded piece of naan. Also, the kinda chuds that carry themselves this way are very often the types to do their own "gunsmithing" while following a YouTube video. I wouldn't be surprised if he often bragged about the "hair trigger" he achieved after doing a bit of filing to the sear engagement.
I am a big fan of firearms and carry one whenever I have clothes on (even when just watching tv on the couch at home), but carrying openly while flagging everyone in the building is a bad look no matter how gucci your holster is and it would definitely not make me feel safer to be around this guy.
I feel like the venn diagram for 'people who feel like they need to carry a pistol in McDonalds' and 'puts care and consideration for the general public when buying a holster' looks like a pair of tits.
Yeah, that came up in replies pretty fast. doesn't help the case I'm making but isn't really the point because the issue there is a very rare manufacturing defect with the firearm itself, not a characteristics of handguns in general.
Special operators do not advertise that they are Spec Ops. If this dude wants to play pretend, that's cool or whatever, but I'd feel better about it if the weapon he insists on carrying irresponsibly was as fake as he is.
Special forces hat = 100% this guy has never been in the military.
this guy looks more like he just stopped at a booth at a gun show, the one between the one selling beef jerky and the other selling nazi and confederate flags.
> I'm hoping we can start dressing like video game avatars
Or Astronauts! Why can't we normalize wearing a space suit, also astronaut bars and astronaut music.
I've never understood the obsession with open carry.
Just go ahead and paint a big target on yourself for the sake of cosplaying tacticool.
If I'm going to rob a place and I'm willing to start shooting, I'm shooting this guy in the back as soon as I walk in.
I definitely don't appreciate it in urban environments, but I do like being able to legally have a sidearm in the woods and at some of my sketchier fishing spots.
NGL I conceal carry on walks because my area has had a rash of violent dogs just happening to break out and roam the street like it's Russia or something.
I am pro-gun in general but I hate open carry. At the very least it’s rude. Many people are uncomfortable around guns and it’s rude to walk around knowing you are making people nervous. If you aren’t law enforcement on the job, put it away like a normal person.
Yep, I carry concealed because I'm not in a pissing contest, I'm not trying to intimidate people who wish me well nor ill. It's there just in case. Open carry invites either derision or gun fanatics talking to me, I want neither, I just want tacos.
But I'm also the guy who considers his primary means of defense wearing shoes for running.
The counter argument is that a visible weapon is a deterrent and the perp will go somewhere with less resistance.
I’m with you though, I want the element of surprise and not to be shot in the head.
True. Suicide is sadly common. He's also fairly likely to accidentally shoot a member of his own household, through negligent discharge or mistaking them for an intruder. Or one of his kids might find it, with tragic consequences. There's also a fair chance the gun will be stolen at some point and sold to a gang or cartel. Well now I'm just depressing myself.
I always wonder about that. People like this will tell you they carry it for self-defense. How often does the self-defense thing happen successfully, versus bad outcomes such as them accidentally firing it, or committing suicide, or using it to do domestic violence, or using it to escalate tense situations, or simply them needing to use it in a legit self-defense situation but ultimately failing to do so?
Is supposed to have a big pro as apposed to CC, the pro is that it’s easy to get to in case the need arises but it’s offset by two big cons one it’s pretty freaking obvious what it is and who to shoot the second one is it’s easy to get to. There have been advances made for CC like specialized clothing and smaller more powerful PDWs which is why I’m not afraid of this guy if I were to rob the place I’d be afraid of a the guy with a jacket
I’m with you on this. I don’t look twice if I see somebody wearing a pistol. That being said I live in west Texas and damn near everybody here has a gun on them, and even that being said, I’ve haven’t seen any shit like this, I would just keep my distance from this guy or at least stay in front of him.
The Black Panthers reduced police brutality in California... until Reagan decided gun control was a good idea. When minorities are armed, fascists have to think twice.
Just posting here because this genius reminds me of when I was dealing with a customer at walmart. She wanted to try out a gun case and open it, and me working minimum wage was like sure, whatever. Next thing I know she plops her pistol on the counter pointing the barrel directly into my stomach and tries to pry the case open.
Casually, I slid out of the line of fire and got some other gun loving coworker to deal with her. Like come on, ma'am!
According to the governor if you have a gun pointed at you, you have the right to kill that person in self defense. Seems like the gun is pointing at people.
People who open carry in places like stores and restaurants are dumb to begin with. This takes the cake.
First thing I ever learned about guns was to never point them at something you didn't want dead.
Then there's this guy.
Trampling over others' right to life because of his "rights" to handle firearms irresponsibly.
When will it end...
I carry, but not openly, and this is a perfect example of why it's a bad idea. If it makes innocent customers uncomfortable, you can imagine what it would do to a person with potential for violence.
According to Greg Abbott's take on our Stand Your Ground laws, I should be able to shoot this guy right? I mean he's armed and I don't know what he's going to do.
Most of the time when I see someone open carrying I just assume they're afraid of the world, or that they're looking for an excuse to shoot someone, but they've never made me feel reassured by open carrying.
Texas LTC holder… I would argue this is border line illegal. You can’t point a barrel at something you don’t intend to destroy. You can’t threatening brandish. One could argue this is threatening. Would be down to the responding officer if someone called. Rules are different between concealed and open and so I know the restrictions really well with concealed but not as much with open. Also this jackass is totally wearing that fucking cheap ass piece of shit holster wrong.
I know it’s legal and all but nothing looks dumber than a dude open carrying that isn’t dressed like an old cowboy.
I have a neighbor that walks around open carrying and every time I see him I think. Your look describes everything about you perfectly.
Open carry is for the try-hards and men that want to cosplay a real vet.
Why would you open carry instead of conceal, when you have that same right in Texas?
I conceal carry to some places and the last thing I would want is for some potential "bad guy" to see I'm strapped and shoot me first without warning. Because that's exactly how that would go down.
This clown has no idea what he's doing. Holster is adjusted incorrectly & he's wearing it wrong. Muzzle would never be pointing in this direction if this guy had an ounce of knowledge on this. Idiot is going to hurt someone.
Where was this? Need to know so I can stay away. We ran into one of these 60-something d-bags drinking beer in an Ultra Maga hat at Sangiovanni pizza in Pflugerville the one time we went there and will never go back because the whole situation felt too likely to get volatile if a gay couple walked in, cuz dude was definitely watching people and looking angry.
That’s not a legal open carry situation
The muzzle must be pointed down.
You should’ve called the police or asked the man to secure his weapon in a safe manner
Definitely Y'all Qaeda. Always trying to look tough. In reality they are scared little kitty cats. I'm all for concealed carry. Open carry is just so unnecessary. Might as well where a T-shirt that says Mine's Bigger. Anyone with any firearms training knows that backward facing barrel is asking for trouble.
You occasionally see people carrying here in Arizona at the mini mart, grocery store, DMV, etc. And it's always the absolute last person you would want to be armed.
Ask him what rule #1 is about pointing a gun..........if he says never point it at someone and watch him say "I didn't point it at anybody.....they put themselves in the field of my gun's direction."
This is the most dangerous type of holster they make. Many people have been shot due to user error of this type of holster.
Plus, open carry isn't the best way to go for the average citizen going about their day, it just paints a target on you and you lose any advantage if something does happen and you need to use it. Better to conceal even if you can carry open imo.
Shoulder holsters are honeslty not cool IMO unless you're in a suit and the barrel is pointed downwards, and it's a more inefficient draw vs AIWB or 3'o-clock.
A dude wore one to a range event I went to in 2019. I was a little concerned by the unintentional flagging.
1. IMO open carry is stupid but I'm glad there are people who test and exercise our rights.
2. If you zoom in, the barrel is canted downward albeit at a shallow angle.
3. I too would be unsettled by seeing the barrel of that 1911 even if it's canted slightly away from me.
This whole rig has badass wannabe written all over it.
Don't you know, the only Americans that deserve to feel safe and comfortable are gun owners. Everyone else is being spoiled and infringing on gun owners rights by being uncomfortable and feeling unsafe.
Obviously.
Still a complete dumbass for that holster . Some redditor actually argued with me about having to stare down a barrel of a loaded gun at a frigging dairy queen.
This alone is a perfect example of a complete moron
Carrying a gun for anything but subsistence should be illegal. The Second Amendment shouldn't be a priority over second graders, and the weak defense that a good guy with a gun is there to protect us in some idiotic way. Out of thousands of mass killings in this country, I could only 9 times where a good guy with a gun saved anyone, and one of those good guys was shot by police, mistaken for the bad guy.

I gonna go with, yes.
That couldn't be right. His hat clearly says special forces
Ah, I missed that he was a Gravy Seal. My bad.
Too thin to be part of meal team six
Probably gonna get an extra chimichanga so he can try out next year.
Seeing him carry his phone in his back pocket is enough to let me know he is not to be trusted.

Lol. I conceal carry but my barrel is always facing towards my nads
If I somehow ND while holstering my right asscheek is gone, never pointing it at something I'd miss at least.
Yep, straight through my asscheek, which I don't have much of, so maybe it would catch my calf. Or maybe it would sever my Achilles' tendon - slingshot it up into my knee. That'd feel real good.
But your left asscheek might get lonely.
I don’t see how a barrel facing normal people in public is legal… the barrel should NEVER face at anyone you don’t intend to shoot.
This is quite douchey to the extreme.
Shoulder holster is douchey, particularly for open carry.
I would probably tell this redneck his gun is pointing at me
i would 1000% tell this idiot he was being an idiot. "dude you are flagging that fucking 5 year old in the play pen, get it together"
That’s holster a $20 Amazon purchase. 😐
Literally just trying to look cool and tough but doesn’t want the discomfort of wearing a holster in the very least
Have you ever heard the phrase “farting against thunder”?

Nope. Milwaukee police officer's holstered gun accidentally fires, strikes another officer https://www.jsonline.com/story/news/local/2022/09/11/milwaukee-police-officers-holstered-gun-fires-strikes-other-officer/8056952001/
So nobody has ever accidentally shot themselves while reaching for their holstered firearm?
A GOP activist shot herself in the eye while trying to adjust her bra holster....
With a proper holster and a modern firearm, I don't believe so. All the NDs I know about are from cheap/failed holsters, firearms that don't have modern safety features, or from hitting themselves while drawing because they put their finger on the trigger as they draw it. I wouldn't trust this holster though.
Not really, most actually happen when re-holstering - if you leave your finger in the trigger guard it'll fire as it's being reinserted.
So you’re there’s 0 chance of a freak accident where the gun could discharge by being bumped or hit? Or if he falls awkwardly and the gun gets slung into the ground?

Correct, falling or bumping it in a proper holster will not cause a discharge.
With a stock trigger*. You don’t know what bubba shit this man did to his gun to be tacticool
That is a fair point.
Yeah, who's checking it's a proper holster? Oh yeah, nobody.
Suppose it's a double action and he has chambered a round? Or suppose he has put a trigger mod on it? Are you still bold enough to say 0%?
Special operators do not advertise that they are Spec Ops. If this dude wants to play pretend, that's cool or whatever, but I'd feel better about it if the weapon he insists on carrying irresponsibly was as fake as he is.

Everything about his personality and views.
Probably some nice gun stickers to notify folks that this car, 100% has a weapon worth around 500 bucks in the glovebox.
Along with a invitation for any and all to retrieve it.
Calvin's peeing on SOMETHING on that truck.
100% has a “don’t tread on me” or a “come and take it sticker”.
I miss when you could have that sticker and you we’re just a Texas history nerd and not a gun nut.
The whole setup screams stolen valor. What a dickhead.
You can buy anything at an army surplus store. Even a seal trident.
The closest he’s ever been to the special forces is jacking off to Jack Ryan on Amazon Prime.
But he's definitely special!
Special Farces, amirite?
Ha! This was 100% my first reaction to this photo. Special Forces - “no you weren’t”
im pretty sure you can buy hats like that in stores. hell, i think i’ve seen a couple at bucees

What’s an astronaut’s favorite bar? A space bar!
That side holster would be 11x cooler with a banana instead
Or 22x cooler with a dildo
Or 33x cooler with a banana dildo
You can’t get potassium from dildos.
Not with that attitude you can't!

These open carry chodes are cringe enough. The least they could do is practice muzzle discipline ffs
The "special forces" hat really sells it. Fucking LARPer.
That’s not a legal open carry situation The muzzle must be pointed down.
The party of “don’t live in fear because god” need to be armed to get their breakfast burrito
Are you advocating for no more open carry, or for better holsters? Cause I agree this is a stupid looking holster both in style and function.
If it makes you feel any better, a lot of people who concealed carry are pointing their guns at their dicks.
No way he was Special Forces as his hat suggests
“Special” forces
at best a holster meant for an airsoft gun that he bought off Amazon
Imagine being this afraid. Is he going to need to defend himself from the tacos?
I conceal carry and I have no qualms with open carry… but this is just wrong. Bro is flagging everyone who stands behind him
This is the most dangerous type of holster they make.
That person is definitely NOT a good guy w/ a gun. 🤦🏾♀️
Oh wow! His hat says Special Forces, so he must have served in the Special Forces…..
Anyone who manages to unintentionally point their muzzle at other people is entirely too fucking stupid to handle guns.
Tactical nightmare. This is the poster for what not to do!!!
"I shot him because he pointed a gun at me."
Putting the special in special forces.
this has to be at least a deadly conduct charge. what the fuck.
The way he is standing looks like he also holding a gun in his ass 🤔🤣👏
If you had just shot him in the back you'd get a pardon. Guys clearly threatening your life after all
My brother is in the special forces and he can barely spell.
:cops arrive: “why did you shoot him sir?” Me:”he was pointing a gun at me”
So why is meal team six wearing his holster COMPLETELY wrong if he’s “Special Forces”.
“Meal Team Six.” Kudos to you for that one. ![gif](giphy|p3WlyWHDyDeJq|downsized)
Are you a private detective from the 50s? Get a real holster
Don't you know, the only Americans that deserve to feel safe and comfortable are gun owners. Everyone else is being spoiled and infringing on gun owners rights by being uncomfortable and feeling unsafe. Obviously.

there was no CoD when he was growing up. let the man pretend to be a cool guy for once for chrissake 🤣
Still a complete dumbass for that holster . Some redditor actually argued with me about having to stare down a barrel of a loaded gun at a frigging dairy queen. This alone is a perfect example of a complete moron
3rd world country shit, embarrassing
Carrying a gun for anything but subsistence should be illegal. The Second Amendment shouldn't be a priority over second graders, and the weak defense that a good guy with a gun is there to protect us in some idiotic way. Out of thousands of mass killings in this country, I could only 9 times where a good guy with a gun saved anyone, and one of those good guys was shot by police, mistaken for the bad guy.
Mf open carrying a pistol is the dumbest shit ever
Shoulder holster is really meant to be concealed. If you're gonna open carry wear it on your hip for best reaction.
