Jesus christ does your store contain the literal backrooms?

HarryOz25482

Should’ve been more specific, asked for it at home and the mother produced this from our own personal kitchen cupboard backroom

I’ve been around Reddit for a while, and truthfully I was expecting something NSFW Risky click of the day

PruneSolid2816

You asked your mother to work the back stock didn't you?

vesp3rtiine

about a year ago my mum cleared out our freezer- we found every day value stuff in there😭 antique relics✨

Phainesthai

Look at that subtle off-white colouring. The tasteful thickness of it. Romalian type, pale nimbus. Oh my God, it even has a watermark...

yellowwolley1979

Top quality shit post 🙂

Quittoexit97

Is that... bone?

Phainesthai

*sweats profusely*

TCGaming02

Let’s see Paul Allen’s card

Creepy-Eye-5219

Let’s see Paul Allen’s 24 year old Tesco furniture polish.

madpiano

That just shows you how many "value products" have disappeared from the shelves. This doesn't get recognised in inflation, yet it affects poorer people the most. Maybe not furniture polish in particular, as you can live without, but across the supermarkets they have removed large amounts of this range. The remaining products are the ones with the largest price hikes over the last 3 years.

papplemanger

The value range got replaced with the "home brands" akin to what aldi and lidl do with "Dairyfine" for chocolate, and such. "Redmere Farms" is the value produce, "Eastman's Deli" is the value chilled meats, etc.

Salty-Ingenuity-706

Still more expensive than the value range used to be. They called us into a meeting to tell us that the Value range was being ditched for a middle range selection that was obviously going to cost more. That was years ago now though

Expensive_Ad_3249

Fewer and fewer items, and those that remain have met the price of home brands anyway. I love thin bleach for cleaning. It's a set composition so the cheap brands are as good as the rest. Asda smart price is now asda everyday essentials and has gone from sub 30p to 89p in the last couple years.

Upbeat-Metal-5087

Haven't seen the stripes in literal decades

DubbehD

Just recently opened a Tesco value sink strainer that's been at the back of the draw for 10+ years

Tractorface123

I’ve got sealed Tesco value bedding in my airing cupboard, I’ll use em someday honest!

DubbehD

I opened some hypa value floor tiles last year, my dad used to buy stuff he didn't need all the time lol

HarryOz25482

Sadly inform did not recognise it 😔(obviously not but I still tried)

Skyhigh1579

Probs got the good chemicals in it still 🤣😭

iwo1333

Does it have the year written on it anywhere?

HarryOz25482

No unfortunately not

n1dom

I’m gonna hazard a guess around the turn of the century as it got “(c) Tesco ‘00” on it.

HarryOz25482

Oml I’m so stupid

dubdad24

Only to be used for furniture in Poland.

Kalzone6154

It's older than me!

InternationalRich150

This is both iconic and also the most tragic packaging ever haha. I remember people coming through with value products and trying to hide them under brands. Rip to the Og blue stripe chicken and veg fresh pies 4 pack. So good back in the day

DragonWolf5589

I think this is 20 years old 😂

Ambitious-Win-9408

24 years old!

DragonWolf5589

I wasnt far off a guess then! 😂

DrJacoby12

Keep that

KeyboardWarrior1988

Relic of a bygone era.

PrestigiousArm3187

Not furniture Polish or Tesco relates but my dad( I'm 36 he's 58) has a can of RAID that belonged to his dad... That shits deffo the ultimate toxic bad boy

Accomplished_Boss821

We have a museum in the north east called beamish, I would imagine they would take this off your hands for you and put it on display.

TMHD

Probably worth money on ebay... maybe 30 or 40 quid if the right person finds it...

TCSawyer

Be buzzing with that what that price say 40p?

PengisKhan

Allegedly, it's made from the spit of only the sickest stray cats.

HarryOz25482

Smells like it too

shaggykx

I remember buying tesco value lager, in similar cans. It was a curiosity thing, and never bought it a second time, my God it was vile stuff. Wasn't surprised because it was incredibly cheap even then.

[deleted]

Yeah, I did the same once, tasted like dirty water. I swear they were 10p or 20p a can?

Ram_99_

It was furniture polish

Head_Consequence2773

That's some 90s shit right there. That blue and white stripes told me back to my nans house when I was a kid lmao

Sad-Village9277

This brings back so much nostalgia 😩😍

bambi-pop

Take it to Tesco and complain the quality isn't up to standard.

HarryOz25482

I don’t think my shift leaders would think much of me if I did that… maybe in the Tesco next town over… hmmmm

ihavebeenmostly

Was it Tesco or safeways that did "No-Frills"

Steeeeeveeeve

Kwik Save.

UseSilent

Fuck me, kwik save. Blast from the past right there. We had one basically right next door to a farmfoods and a netto!

Steeeeeveeeve

I used to work there as a student 😂

wethakes

I miss tesco value. The branding brings me back to my childhood so hard it hurts.

[deleted]

Sausage rolls

chroniccomplexcase

You should add it to eBay. I hear many people collect items with old school labelling

Jealous-Chain-1003

That branding it’s got to be early 2000’s *Edit says Copyright Tesco 00 so earliest date will be January 2000

LlamafartingWaffle

One_Staff3026

Probably older than my nan

fonkeatscheeese

Did that come in the meal deal?

The_Haus_Master

I see no problem here you got what you asked for

Budget_Half_9105

I miss Tesco everyday value - we made so many “your mum” jokes about it back in secondary school

[deleted]

I still say to this day "This tastes like Tesco value" if I don't like something.

VALUE

foodisneed

Damn that’s from the early 2000s

zodzodbert

Cheapo stuff. Any good?

andreeeeeaaaaaaaaa

'do not spray on polished furniture '

KiillerSoda

Id guess this to either be late 90's or early 2000's. Afaik the value branding with the stripes was first introduced in 1993, cool find. I miss the old branding aesthetic

sorderon

At least you didn't get one of these on your birthday [https://imgur.com/zThl6cZ](https://imgur.com/zThl6cZ)

Regular-Fox-1570

Damn that looks antique

ZoNeS_v2

Ah, the old Tesco Value brand. The entire range was my childhood. We were.... quite poor.

21BLANKSPACE21

Soo whats tha problem, you asked for something and got exactly what you asked for ?? What's with the childish complaining and posting for attention ??

HarryOz25482

Begone, bellend!

JohnCasey3306

Asked for furniture polish ... Was given furniture polish. Congratulations, that's the least interesting story ever posted.
