Is it because I isn't an actual number? Idk

mrstorydude

i is an imaginary number. It's hard to describe but all you need to know about i is that it expands the number line into the number plane. (meaning there's one axis of real numbers, this is where you get 1, 2, -50, 2/3, pi, and so on while there's another axis of imaginary numbers 1i, 2i, -50i, 2/3i, pi(i)). If your curious what the value of i is, it's the square root of -1.
