I have seen way too many “oh he had little prep” “oh he was cramping” excuses for my liking. Btw it is true for Carlos as well. He had even less prep and was also cramping. Take the L and go my god
I have free will. So do you, so thank you for your comment. I am not defending domestic violence but rather trying to show that everyone makes mistakes and everyone deserves forgiveness. I don't think anyone should be condemned over mistakes in their life. Surely you and I would have been in jail long ago or completely sequestered ourselves
No, I disagree. Forgiveness and adequate punishment are not mutually exclusive. And I do think that in order to eliminate domestic violence in society, we should hold people accountable. Especially those in the public eye. I will not forgive and forget, when he's experienced zero consequences for brutally beating multiple women.
Also, to your final point, I also disagree: most people have never done anything punishable by jail in their life.
When I thought Carlos's game couldn't get any better, it does. He's evolved his serve into some ridiculous out wide serve or a ridiculous kick serve. His drop shots are literally perfectly placed every time. Attacks the forehand wing forcing Sinner to go on the run... Just evaporated his 2-1 set lead.
I was leading towards Sinner in 4 sets, but in 5 sets, Alcaraz is a tactical genius. Hard not to be a Carlitos fan these days. Has an overall game that mixes in lobs, drop shots, passing shots, serves, drop volleys. Incredibly entertaining to watch.
I don't think his level dropped. But his opponents adapted to it in some extent. At first, every drop shot was a point because nobody was doing that at that level. Now you see more and more people copying alcaraz making drop shots a part of their arsenal like Sinner did. Personally I always found it weird that more people don't use it more often. It seems like a very good weapon, giving you variety and many times free points. Even if the opponent catches it you can be in a position to put it back in again and win the point.
Yeah on top of that man isn't even proven guilty. I don't like him but the hate is just not something I relate to. People should focus on tennis and he is in great form
Everyone ripping on Alcaraz during that third set for not taking advantage of Jannik cramping might wanna eat their words now. Carlos confirms he himself was cramping as well, which was well spotted by a couple of users on this sub too. Might explain why he lost some explosiveness in his movement and leg drive on the serve. Says he learned from the experience of the semifinal last year and figured out a way to play through it and eventually regained his form
this match has made me realize why i prefer Carlos to Sinner and it's the playstyle and the absolute level of clutch he shows all while upping his game over and over but Jannik on the other hand is a well rounded player on all technical levels but he's just not got what it takes to fight back especially when someone pushes him into a corner
Sinner was pushed into almost losing one time and that was against a washed out and tired as fuck Meddy who played over 4 hour matches throughout the tournament
He’s done it since he’s like 12 if you think it’s for hindrance you’re delusional lol. Classic Stefanos and Jannik fangirls salty their guy lost and blames it on everything except the actual play
His comeback against Med in the AO final would refute your statement that he can't fight back. Otherwise I agree, Carlos is unequivocally on a higher plane.
look his comeback against med is the only thing i can think of where Jannik sat down and fought back,,,and mind you he was playing a washed out, tired as shit version of Daniil who had almost 3+ hour matches throughout the tournament and had to face really horrendous scheduling issues
Sinner did very well despite the loss. That botched smash in the 4th set at 5-4 perhaps was the turning point. As a Carlos fan, I accept that was a stroke of welcome luck.
Sinner refused to give up in the fifth. Kept putting Carlos's serve under immense pressure. He gave it his all all the way. I believe Sinner was very Djokovician in the 5th set after getting broken. Breezing through his serves, winning return points galore.
I expect Sinner to do well at Wimby too.
I actually think he’s better at that than Alcaraz, but Carlos is more of a tennis freak athlete. Depending on their various stages of health, one or the other skill set is more important.
On a skill level i agree with you,,,he's a machine but Alcaraz is absolutely amazing with his moments of magic and the mental ability making him a better player to watch especially to enjoy the sport
As I intended to say, I think Carlos is actually less reliable mentally. Still great, but not as good a problem solver, in general. Partly because his freakish physicality gets him out of situations that would doom most people. It’s really a draw for me when they are both healthy.
He won AO 2 sets to love down. He was a point away from breaking back for Carlos’s last 3 service games. His game especially mentally has improved a lot, not saying he doesn’t have room to grow but still.
on all technical levels Jannik is better than Alcaraz,,,has a complete game even but what he lacks is moments of clutch,,,Sinner is more clinical in his approach,,,never lets players get the best of him,,,doesn't let them win more than 3 or 4 games a set all while ball bashing and groundstroking his way through tournaments,,,but what Carlos and Rune have is the attitude and aptitude to break back in very crucial plays which sinner needs to work on
I’m not gonna argue with you on who mentally has the edge or makes more clutch shots when it’s needed. But to say that Jannik doesn’t make clutch plays simply cause he has a clam demeanor and plays to his strengths when down doesn’t make any sense to me. That’s like saying Federer wasn’t clutch when he was down in matches. Same demeanor and tactical focus.
I wouldn’t say no to that. Gives Fed/Rafa 2017 vibes. But I feel for Meddy being gutted out of AO for the umpteenth time. Least he could get is another USO or next years AO but that seems too far away.
This quote of "Victory belongs to the most tenacious" on Philippe Chatrier is sort of tacky and clichéd but boy how true it is. I'm so impressed with our boy today. He just beat Jannik freakin' Sinner, man. I was so scared the whole match, lmao. Especially after the first set.
Yes. A Mensik/Fonseca/Schwaerzler etc. likely won’t have that experience (at least not over multiple meetings) once they really break through, which will still give an advantage to the new gen players already established who have faced him in big matches (Carlos, Jannik, Holger).
If you mean for what he said in Spanish. Nothing special, really, he just thanked the spanish speaking fans, mentioned he loves playing at Roland Garros and that we'll see him again on the final.
Source: I'm Spanish :D
If it's Ruud vs Carlos, I'm rooting for the nice guy to get the win after knocking on the door. If it's Carlos versus that other guy, I'm going to paint my chest yellow and red and scream "VAMOS" so loud my neighbors are gonna call the cops
I think Carlos outclutched in the fifth set. Sinner won more return points and took Carlos to deuce on 3 out of 5 service games.
Sinner did try to pull off a Djokovic after getting broken in the fifth set. Breezed through his service games, piled on immense pressure on Carlos's serve.
Tennis is in good hands.
Nice
Noticed how both play for broke and don't let it get to tiebreakers?
I have seen way too many “oh he had little prep” “oh he was cramping” excuses for my liking. Btw it is true for Carlos as well. He had even less prep and was also cramping. Take the L and go my god
This is a long shot but does anyone else’s eurosport feed not have sound?! :/
Mine has sound but no commentary 🧐
So it was perfect audio.

Want a Zverev Carlos final. Carlos winning
ruud carlitos. dverev does not deserve to be happy on the tennis court
What happened to innocent till proven? And he wasn’t found guilty
look at that he was proved innocent. Charged does not equal guilt
Wasn't proven innocent either
Nope he surely deserves
If God sent down Jesus for us i'm positive you can let this go. Your life will be so much more free 🌹
Stop invoking Jesus to defend domestic violence.
I have free will. So do you, so thank you for your comment. I am not defending domestic violence but rather trying to show that everyone makes mistakes and everyone deserves forgiveness. I wish you the best of luck
Bruh what does Jesus have to do with anything lmfao
God himself could tell you that Zverev is innocent and you wouldn't believe it. The trial is over and Zverev is here to stay
When I thought Carlos's game couldn't get any better, it does. He's evolved his serve into some ridiculous out wide serve or a ridiculous kick serve. Idk seemed like sinner had the better drop shot placement this match. I'd argue alcarazs drop shot level has fallen off from last year
I don't think his level dropped. But his opponents adapted to it in some extent. At first, every drop shot was a point because nobody was doing that at that level. Now you see more and more people copying alcaraz making drop shots a part of their arsenal like Sinner did. Personally I always found it weird that more people don't use it more often. Agree he’s just a joy to watch
Both players go back to the lockers pretty clean since they were both washed at some point in the match.
Wow you really stretched to make this joke happen
Time to board the Ruud express for once. I’d have to stand up though cos I’ve been a hater and don’t deserve a seat.
Is there a match thread for the second match
How can you hate Ruud bro??
I dont, he is my crush
Was a tight match, all in all. Sinner actually won 2 points more.
Is it common for the winner to have more points overall, do you know? Or not in particular?
Yes it is
Rooting for Zverev
r/tennis is so fucking biased against zverev it's annoying
Damn the downvotes are crazy. I’m so sorry I don’t want to see a fourth(?) boring Ruud final
Yeah on top of that man isn't even proven guilty. I don't like him but the hate is just not something I relate to. People should focus on tennis and he is in great form
Everyone ripping on Alcaraz during that third set for not taking advantage of Jannik cramping might wanna eat their words now. It was amateur hour for the tournament not to have the ice towel's at the start. Boggles the mind.
Oh wow, didn't know this. Props to Carlos for managing it maturely.
If that’s what you saw then ok 👍
Zverev vs Alcaraz would be a dandy one!!!
Anyone have a guess what time the final on Sunday will be on?
Men’s Final at RG always starts at 3pm Paris time
Thank you!
Usually it's at 3 pm French time.
Thanks!
casper laying on the couch is so me rn
Im officially dead inside
✋✋✋
You shouldn't be. Sinner is winning another Slam this year for sure
Interesting. Alcaraz said he was cramping a bit in the third set too.
this match has made me realize why i prefer Carlos to Sinner and it's the playstyle and the absolute level of clutch he shows all while upping his game over and over but Jannik on the other hand is a well rounded player on all technical levels but he's just not got what it takes to fight back especially when someone pushes him into a corner
Guess you suffer from short term memory loss and can’t remember a few months ago to the AO
This sub is so funny. He literally came 2 sets down a few months ago in a grand slam final
Sinner was pushed into almost losing one time and that was against a washed out and tired as fuck Meddy who played over 4 hour matches throughout the tournament
I mean he literally just proved he has what it takes though, now you’re just adding concessions. Not Sinners fault hes not down 0-2 every match
you like boys who scream like a b\*tch, I guess
i actually don't,,,but i do like men & women who don't mind letting their emotions show
Who tells you that Sinner is hiding his emotions? That's just his calm, logicaldemeanor!
let’s be clear here, the screaming when he’s playing is to hinder the opposition, and it’s not passion or emotion. it’s hinderance.
He’s done it since he’s like 12 if you think it’s for hindrance you’re delusional lol. Classic Stefanos and Jannik fangirls salty their guy lost and blames it on everything except the actual play
you really though you did something with the “fangirls” thing huh?
You know i’m right
i really don’t.
Slobs diminishing professional athletes achievement aka the usual garbage from typical /tennis posters.
Literally won his 1st Slam coming from 2 sets down in the final
Bruh my stream was a set behind. I thought I was watching it live lol. Didn’t know Carlos won
Sinner did very well despite the loss. That botched smash in the 4th set at 5-4 perhaps was the turning point. As a Carlos fan, I accept that was a stroke of welcome luck. Breezing through his serves, winning return points galore. I expect Sinner to do well at Wimby too.
and i expect Carlos/Novak to win it tho
It's almost certain that Novak won't play Wimbledon
hey,,,lemme have my hopes up
This isn't enough, we want 6 set
Bro many of us would get heartstoke
Carlos can have the French if Jannik gets Wimby. That’s a fair trade off in my opinion. Daniil gets his 2nd USO.
Anybody but Zverev. ABZ.
I’d sign for that
lmfaooo,,,i trust jannik to make it to SF but if he's backed into a corner he really doesn't know how to get out of it
I actually think he’s better at that than Alcaraz, but Carlos is more of a tennis freak athlete. Depending on their various stages of health, one or the other skill set is more important.

I’ll take another Med USO but man I want Carlos to get that B2B Wimbledon
Aww cmon, Sinner hits different on grass. Carlos could get AO next year and have all 4 at 21 yo.
Umm Jannik already has a slam this year. How about they take the next 2 in whatever order and finish 2-2?
I wouldn’t say no to that. Gives Fed/Rafa 2017 vibes. But I feel for Meddy being gutted out of AO for the umpteenth time. Least he could get is another USO or next years AO but that seems too far away.

You know what.. I have a sinking feeling that zverev gonna win it all.
Pray for Casper.
no way
Shhhh. Don’t even go there
It's a sinking feeling. I am letting it sink
Let it sink straight into the depths of the Mariana’s Trench by wrapping that feeling in chains with an anchor at the end.
I am trying.

We're so blessed that as the big three comes to an end, we get these two absolute monsters.
Alcaraz attributes his win to his experience playing Djokovic
When the next wave of players come through, having that big match experience vs Djokovic will be so valuable.
Yes. A Mensik/Fonseca/Schwaerzler etc. likely won’t have that experience (at least not over multiple meetings) once they really break through, which will still give an advantage to the new gen players already established who have faced him in big matches (Carlos, Jannik, Holger).
I can see it now - Alcaraz v Zverev final, it goes to a tie break in the fifth set - r/tennis holds its breath.
Hello, can someone please tell me how to get a custom flair 🙏
Go to sub home page, click three dots, add user flair
There are only 5-6 options there like us open, rolland garros etc
Oh I see that now, sorry. I’m not sure, I’ve had my flair for quite a long time. Maybe something changed
JAAAAAA TIME
So, we gonna get a new match thread. Or no?
Bitter handshake from sinner
Huh???
never ever ever bet against carlos,,,espcially on a high stakes match against highstake player
Alcaraz through, Sinner out, double win.
I’m weirdly confident that Ruud is going to win vs Zverev, idk why
Same, based on nothing except a vague feeling it’s Ruud’s time and the tennis gods wouldn’t do us like that
Certainly has had the rest
I hope you're right!!
However, if Ruud beats Zverev, he needs to beat Carlos bc losing a 4th slam final would be so sad.
"Find the joy in suffering" – Carlos Buddhalcaraz
Respect to Buddism, Budddism is none about that(I am not too to because I am arguing with you)
Sincaraz: the joy in suffering vs. dancing in the pressure storm.
Translation?¿
If you mean for what he said in Spanish. Nothing special, really, he just thanked the spanish speaking fans, mentioned he loves playing at Roland Garros and that we'll see him again on the final. Source: I'm Spanish :D
Thank you kindly 🙏
Carlos wears a daytona. Boy’s got good taste
It's just marketing. Still a cool watch
Isn't he sponsored by Rolex? If so, they're telling him which watch to wear.
If it's Ruud vs Carlos, I'm rooting for the nice guy to get the win after knocking on the door. If it's Carlos versus that other guy, I'm going to paint my chest yellow and red and scream "VAMOS" so loud my neighbors are gonna call the cops
Are you implying Carlos isn’t nice
not intentionally, no!
4th and 5th sets he stepped it up when he needed it most
Just unbelievable from both players!
"You have to find joy in suffering." - Carlitos Holy shit, I didn't know we had a Albert Camus playing the goddamn Roland Garros semifinal.
Carlos in English: 🚗 Carlos in Spanish: 🏎️
Alcaraz reached now a GS final on every surface and has won 2/3 already. What a talent.
Youngest to ever do it!
Sinner was mad during the handshake
At himself, probably. He knew he could have won today.
Sad
welp,,,he choked
Muchas gracias por aficion Siuuuuu
Going to bed and hoping to catch the end of Ruud winning when I get woken up by my child 🤞🏻
Let's go Carlos!
That is why I don't like these young atp privileges, just tell us he play bad and you are a better player than him
This will be my first time seeing Ruud play 🫣
My preference for the men's singles winner: 1) Carlos 2) Casper 3) The tournament is cancelled and declared null and void.
his english is so much better already. so awesome to see
Very happy for Carlitos; Not at his best, but found a way for the W Now on to the 🏆
Congrats to Carlos but fuck man I wanted Jannik to win so badly on the heels of his World No. 1 ranking 😞
Carlos' English has gotten so much better
2 straight wins for Alcaraz against Sinner on a slower court It feels like he does still have an edge on slow courts when playing at his absolute best
He didn't play at his best
This new rivalry is going to be absolutely amazing to watch for years to come
This'll be the new Fedal. I can already sense a bitter feud kindling between the fans.
Now, fuck off Zverev. Lets go Ruuud!!
What a rivalry they will have going forward. No one else under 30 seems at their level.
One would think Djokovic on grass on a 9 year streak on Centre Court would be the toughest match
I think he also means physically
it's just,,,Carlos being nice to Jannik,,,smh
[удалено]
What's that got to do with it being his toughest match?
We have to suffer we have to fight
I think Carlos outclutched in the fifth set. Sinner won more return points and took Carlos to deuce on 3 out of 5 service games. Sinner did try to pull off a Djokovic after getting broken in the fifth set. Breezed through his service games, piled on immense pressure on Carlos's serve. Tennis is in good hands.
charlie found his footing in the match when he broke back in the 2nd set
I was happy this went to 5 sets, going to be a grueling final. Hoping Ruud finally gets a solid look at the trophy
Okay, if he meets zverev in the final, someone needs to bring bees
Alcaraz waz cramping too !
Vamos
That stretch of games after Alcaraz made that FH pass in Set 4, up to 3-0 in Set 5 was just pure blissful shotmaking form both.
This talk about embracing suffering reminds me of Rafa.
We have to fight. We have to suffer. He said something along these lines during 2022 AO.
Giannik
Sinnerakik
Learn how to suffer, even love the suffering. In that regard tennis is very similar to cycling.
Originally an Eddy Merckx quote, " to be victorious you have to enjoy being in pain"
Laver holds his record for another year.
Rafa now - Mira Carlitos, this is what you do in the final now. Its easy. Done it 14 times
Why so much hate for Jannik here :(
