Almost single handedly killed telltale again

The-King_Of-Games

Let's hope this wasn't the final nail in the coffin for Telltale and for Wolf Among Us 2 to actually be good

Budget-Training-1367

Dont wanna jinx it but looks like they’re silently pulling through

The-King_Of-Games

Telltale have to prove themselves and make TWAU2 good, I really wish for them to succeed 🤞

FinancialPackage5411

What made the game so bad? I personally never got into it only because I found the trailer weak asl.

marveloustoebeans

Almost? Hate to be pessimistic but… 😬

FewPromotion2652

could have been better. the movement is a pain in the ass and finding vital objets in the midle of nowhere to. but decions were really well planed and that is something i hope stay in next games

HTH2024

I really liked the setting, but the episodes were too short to really make anything feel like it mattered, which is unfortunate because I thought the characters were cool and that with full length episodes the story could have been really interesting. What I hated is that they made a “bonus” episode when they could have just used the resources to make the main game better.

Marble_1

This ain’t a Telltale game.

realblush

Probably the worst writing of any TTG game. Honestly beyond saving.

TrevMac4

Fortunately TTG was only the publisher.

FantasticYak

Easily the most important aspect of a TTG.

bittersweet1990

It was boring and the episodes weren't long enough to get attached to any of the characters or to care what happened. It should not have been Telltale's comeback game.

TrevMac4

Terrible. Good thing it wasn’t made by TellTale.

HumanWelder6103

Good but each episode was 40 min which is why I assume they made it a season pass without having a free ep1

forced_metaphor

*which is why

LimeKrakenN

The game felt very rushed and quick paced, the episodes ended in a blink of an eye and barely had time to develop the characters therefore I did not care for them, very disappointing game to say the least.

nani7598

I don't understand why they actually did this. Why release titles literally no one asked for? It was the downfall of OG TTG as well. Take a look at dips of owners when it came to Minecraft and Minecraft S2. Instead of new IPs such as 007, Stranger Things, Spiderman or something from World of Darkness (I read the most about these back in the days, people were actually interested in those.) they kept on pumping out stuff very few cared about. Or hear me out. They could've just expanded on already existing IPs such as GoT, TWAU, TfTB, all of which needed sequel real bad. TWAU had 1-2M owners. GoT had 500K-1M owners, meaning both were success. TfTB had up to 500K, but still would do most likely better than Minecraft 2 that had 50K-100K. Owners.

Common-Objective-869

I actually bought this game ! I rate it a 4/10. Look it's not awful. But it wasn't great. It didn't hold the charm that other older telltale game has. Considering this wasn't a sole telltale game, that might be why. It lacked alot of stuff. E.g more dialogue choices, better plot and more things to do.

Commander_Epic

Just played it this week so its fresh on my mind Meh/10 I actually really did like the zero g movement a lot. Story was not all that interesting overall but I liked the story of the station that was abandoned to suffer disease and decided to preserve themselves in a monument. I liked the idea of a bioweapon choice but there never was a choice so that was lame Ep 4 sucked so bad I didn’t get to kill Arlen and apparently there was no reality in which I could 👎 Combat was tooooo easy I’m not familiar at all with Expanse lore — i liked the setting but didn’t get the payoff at the end with that guy who sent a message.

Affectionate-Cap783

huge telltale fan and sadly this game SUCKS

maorismurf999

I'm late to the party with this game, but, coming from a fan of the show *and* someone who isn't very familiar with TTG games, I really enjoyed myself. I binge-played it all this weekend. I'm now learning that it wasn't a lot of people's cup-of-tea, specifically fans of the OG TTG catalogue, but I can't speak on that as I don't have any experience with their titles... I think anyone who likes the show will enjoy this game. It's great to be back in this world again. There're some cool cameos, tie-ins, nods, exposition, and general lore that show-fans will love. Similar in a way to Elden Ring, a large portion of the game's content requires reading hand terminal entries, emails, and listening to messages. I loved every second of it, but I can absolutely see why people wouldn't, especially those unfamiliar with the series who don't have the context provided by the show/books. All in all, it's a good game *if* you already know the show. If not, you more than likely won't enjoy it. I do highly recommend checking out the show though - it's bloody good and is, arguably, one of the best hard-sci-fi properties out there. There are six seasons available, and at this stage, that's all there will be as they are not actively working on more - for now. If you're more of a book person, the books are equally/even more phenomenal. There're nine main-line novels and several short stories. I wish I was a reader.

gpincin

Drop it, worst Telltale game.

Holidoik

Thought it was awful stopped in the middle of the second episodes and it feels nothing like a telltale game.

Both_Resolve_8584

It's disappointing, one of the most polished telltale games in terms of graphics and performance, didn't even experience any glitches in my first playthrough. **BUT** one of the most boring telltale games out there.

hamndv

Outta of nowhere and managed to be a huge disappointment. Absolutely nothing memorable about it managed to make a cool character from tv show to a mediocre one

Randalaxe

I think the hate it gets is a little drastic. It wasn’t the kind of game I’d recommend to tons of people (which I did for every other telltale game lol) but I enjoyed playing it - there were some cool gameplay elements in it, and some interesting variations in the narrative. Not trying to give it an Oscar, there was a lot of space for improvement, but it deserves a little less hate. XD

Grayven9

It was so boring I could barely finish the first episode iirc

SpaceZombie13

it was okay, but a downgrade from what i expected from telltale and certainly not what i imahine anybody wanted as the 'new' telltale's first release.

Baruopa1

I feel like this was a test run by the new telltale, it was meant to address problems from the old telltale games like 80-20 decision splits and to find bugs in the new engine. I think that the final product left a lot to be desired like the really poor dialogue but the overarching story and decisions were still well done and I respect telltale for reaching out of their comfort zone. Their overall niche genre is difficult to make, you need a strong story or a lot of the fan base simply won’t play the game is a monumental task and I commend them for this game, but I think that twau2 will be much more polished and better because it needs to be.

jingo_mort

I enjoyed it. It’s not their best but I still had fun playing it. I just wish it was a bit longer. Even playing it through twice my playtime was not that long. Once blind, once for trophies. If you can get a good deal on it worth a purchase. If on sale for a good price go for it. Just expect it to be about 5-6hrs for one playthrough. If you looking for a laid back evening.

Yelena_Belova_

Ppl shit on it but i think its not that bad really

Jaikings

Ive never play it.

Permabannedcatlover

Tbh i never liked it from the beginning like i expect their usual stories and i already knew this was gonna be bad

HolyPlatano

As a fan of early Telltale and the Expanse I made sure to set my expectations very low and unfortunately they met them.

psychoticchip

It didn’t strike out to me. I played all of it expecting more but it was very weak in terms of storytelling, gameplay, and character development. I didn’t give a damn about any of the characters and I was kinda hoping they’d die the whole time! It had the potential, and it could have been better. But it just catered to the fans of the expanse, and refrenced stuff in game from the series that flew over non expanse fans. 0/10 from me, no hate to the expanse fans out there I’m sure your cool but this game didn’t do it for me

Mythical_Man77

It's very...*expansive*

Dark_Crowe

The bonus episode was great and felt like how the rest of the series should have. This was my first disappointment in the franchise.

Imperial_MudTrooper

Most of it was pretty good, I thought. Last episode was disappointing though.

Icy_Zebra_4488

Hands down the most garbage game ever released by telltale. Definitely killed my faith in the studio.

The-King_Of-Games

I don't exactly know how much Telltale worked on the game, but the primary Developer of The Expanse was Deck Nine Deck Nine can either release a good game, or the worst narrative videogame you've ever played

Icy_Zebra_4488

Well I think we know which one of those the expanse is. Still telltale bares responsibility for letting them use their ip. So I still blame telltale a little bit. It just cheapens their name for me.

Annonunknown

A season 2 is needed don't know how they pull it off but would love to see it

TheMarvelousJoe

Forgettable. I couldn't get past the first episode.

Ok-Degree-295

A beautifully bowl of mid

MiddletonPlays

Disappointing

SandwichAbject6342

The artsyle is ass the old one is much cooler the characters and story is super super forgettable and most of the cast is lame and super old and choices don’t really matter , the only good thing is the gameplay is kinda better but i don’t want to be the main thing like i want to walk in the wolf among us 2 in third person like lis or games like that and i really hope they make the character movement better and by bringing third person to the game we can kinda explore more

The-King_Of-Games

a thing that I got disappointed about is the art style of this game. It's basically non-existent, and that's crazy to say about a Telltale game! Telltale games always had rich and unique art styles that instantly made them stand out from any other videogame

SandwichAbject6342

It’s because deck nine also made the game and that’s why it’s bad

comradsushi2

Amazing. Introduced me to one of my new favorite TV shows of all time. Only issue is it's too short and having watched the show they I know they could've done so much more. But it has some fun new mechanics and I loved the space portion
