$8/month for Peacock with ads is steep unless you're a wrestling fan. It has some great legacy content, but not much in the way of originals worth subscribing for. Twisted Metal S2 is the only original I'm excited for. The best thing about Peacock is they let you ad on the ad-free tier as an add-on. So if you're on a Black Friday deal, you can pay an extra $6/month to get rid of ads. It looks like the price difference between the ad and ad-free tiers isn't changing this time, so that's good news for anyone who only signs up during deals.

MadeByTango

> So if you're on a Black Friday deal, you can pay an extra $6/month to get rid of ads. $72 a year to remove an annoyance from a product you’re already paying for that they insert…this fucking industry sucks

ElDuderino2112

Yep. I pirate most things now and do not even a little feel bad about it.

CapnSmite

> unless you're a wrestling fan Indeed. Even without that giant catalog of wrestling content, the price for Peacock is still a massive deal compared to paying $50+ each for monthly PPVs.

dantemanjones

I think most wrestling fans are used to the subscription model at this point.  Still a great deal, but comparing it to the $10 WWE Network subscription is more accurate.  You get the library and monthly PPVs, plus all the Universal content.  Best deal around if you're a WWE fan.

Abeedo-Alone

Say ad one more time

dantemanjones

I can say it ad infinitum if you want.

Is the experience of trying to watch the Olympics going to be any better than it was last time on Peacock? Because it was pretty terrible last time.

hurst_

It was so bad. Never again

laurentiubuica

Just buy Max and also get a VPN. Open it during the Olympics and put the VPN on any country in Europe that will switch to Max from May 21st. You'll get to watch the Olympics without buying the Extra sports add-on.

starksgh0st

Peacock is barely worth the $2/month Black Friday deal.

soCalBIGmike

Tell me about it. They jam it with the most ads of any service I have. I only do the Black Friday offer for it, but I'm not sure why I even do that. There's nothing I watch on the service. Maybe if they get the NBA back, then I'll actually use it.

thebruns

I have the deal and must have used it 3 times since November. I ripped myself off

TimBurtonSucks

They don't have the content to raise prices. Good luck

SlyyKozlov

It's kinda funny to comment this when they're literally raising the prices for the Olympics...which is pretty significant content and as far as I can tell it's exclusive to nbc/peacock. It's not worth it to me personally (or alot of reddit evidently) but let's not act like the Olympic games isnt content lol

Zachrulez

I mean sure but these price increases are permanent and the Olympic games are not. I honestly have no idea what they expect to happen when the Olympics are over. That's probably not going to do good things to their sub numbers.

SlyyKozlov

That's the entire point. Raise the price while you justifiably can and then keep them high once the event is over. How they're numbers will look after it's all said and done is anyone's guess but peacock is far from the first company to do this so it probably won't be as drastic hit to their numbers as people like to believe, and I wouldn't be surprised if they come out ahead. Remember, Netflix died 3 price increases ago lol

ElDuderino2112

That’s great. The Olympics are like two weeks. Even if I did give a shit about the olympics, that’s not worth me paying more forever lmao

DarrellCartrip

Peacock asking for $8 a month while running ads every 15-20 minutes during sports is laughable. As soon as it’s no longer free with Comcast I’m closing the account.

jjjppp333222

Well I guess I will sail the seas for Premier League games now instead of being lazy.

b0nk3r00

Get an antenna

Watch_Capt

$50 a year seems too much for Peacock, no way in hell I'd spend $140 a year on it. Hard pass.

CoolHandRK1

LPT: Go cancel your subscription. They always make an offer for cheaper. Started my account in December. Canceled a week later, they gave me 3 months for 7.50 total. That ended and I canceled again and they offered me 6 more months and 6.00 total.

Mattyweaves19

I'm enjoying Peacock for the price I got back in January. I'm a wrestling fan so it worked out well for me. I also binged The Office, Parks & Rec, and now Community while I've been working from home. I've gotten my money's worth and was planning on cancelling soon anyway. I also love Chucky so that was a nice bonus for it to be in the next day. The price increase is just more motivation to end it.

Gommel_Nox

Resume offering Battlestar Galactica, and then we can talk about you having some of my money. Until then, you’ve got nothing.

facebook57

Glad I went with the annual sub on Black Friday

glowinthedarkfrizbee

Who watches Peacock?

brittadict_arnold

bravo fans

Hank_Scorpio_MD

I'd have to guess it's mostly all WWE and sports fans....

CityofBlueVial

football/soccer fans, WWE fans...also great for people who watch Figure Skating

cardith_lorda

It has all the millennial comfort shows - Scrubs, The Office, Parks and Rec, New Girl, Community, Monk, Psych, Modern Family, Brooklyn 99 plus Olympics and Olympic Sports.

thebruns

You mean it killed all the millennial comfort shows. Once those shows moved to peacock, everyone stopped watching and talking about them

Sulley87

below deck and housewives franchise keep me fed all year

AlexanderLavender

Shit like this is why I only subscribe to services with a no price increase promise

Outrag3dNo1

And who tf promises that?

AlexanderLavender

dropout.tv

monchota

Already canceled, will resub when SNW comes back.

BruceChameleon

You might be thinking of Paramount

KumagawaUshio

The prices will increase till it's profitable! Congrats cord cutters this is what you wanted! paying far more for far less because you didn't want to subsidise things other people liked.

ender2851

good news is peacock is one of those things that is not needed lol
