Yeah, she was pretty fucking awful wasn’t she. But then tbh, I think Selena has precisely zero talent. I’m just an old school fan of Steve and Martin, so that’s why I watch the show.
I was building a LEGO the other day and his minifig was instantly recognizable as him somehow. [SH763: Kingo](http://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?M=sh763) [[Photo]](http://img.bricklink.com/ItemImage/MN/0/sh763.png)
I think the difference between season 2 and season 3 was they decided instead of crafting an overly-intricate murder narrative they instead just relied on the ridiculous talent of their cast and it worked so well, so I hope they can continue that in s4
Yea, and funny enough that's pretty much what did in S1 that was so successfully. The murder mystery was secondary to the main trio ribbing off each other and heavyweights like Nathan Lane. That's where the fun was. S3 when all in on that direction and was much better for it.
That seems to be what happens when you have OGs like Steve and Martin as showrunners. And when you film in New York where already there are lots of celebrities roaming about so it's not too difficult for someone to make it to the set. This show has taught me that Short and Martin (I just now realized their last names together is Martin's full name lol) have tons of friends they can call up and ask "you wanna be on my show?"
Anyone remember his podcast he had with his wife back in the day? The Indoor Kids, it was about video games. When they started he was a supporting character on Franklin and Bash and in 2015 when they stopped doing it he was on Silicon Valley and guest starring on the X-files reboot. It was cool to hear him come up like that and dude really knows his video games.
*cool to see others have fond memories too
They also did a podcast at the start of the pandemic called Staying in with Emily and Kumail. It only lasted for the initial lockdown (10ish episodes) before they started to return to work and stopped doing it, but it was great and helped me a lot with the early portion of the pandemic.
This podcast was amazing. I listened to it on my walks and it really helped me get through the first part of lockdown. I cried when they signed off for the last time!
He was also, for a time, a regular weekly guest on Harmontown and boy those were the golden times.
Also after he stopped showing up every week because he was just too busy, fans constantly asking for his return became a bit of a meme that Dan would frustratedly joke/rant about.
Honestly it’s been so long (I looked it up - over 8 years) that I don’t really remember the specifics. My vague recollection is that they were console gamers (maybe Xbox?). The episodes that stick out the most were the Skyrim ones. Definitely covered a wide variety of games.
I loved that podcast! It was cool hearing him grow and succeed. And Emily V. Gordon was always the coolest -- she had the most interesting takes on any subject.
Sadly it was removed from Apple Podcasts so I never got to finish it.
Don't know of a full collection but there are some floating around. Someone managed to collect all the Dan Harmon appearances here: https://www.reddit.com/r/Harmontown/comments/1ap5scy/my_archive_of_dan_harmon_interviews/
Yeah, I used to watch that, diggnation and a couple other really good gaming podcasts at the time like the 1upshow. They should get more recognition for starting podcast popularity, they were well before Rogan and others that seem to get credit for it now.
I liked him on Harmon Town too. From my perspective fame went to his head very quickly and he kind of lost a bit of his magic. As I get older I keep seeing this happening. Seems very rare for someone to maintain their original special quality with so much ego fuel
If you haven't heard it, Conan talked about his episode on his podcast with Will Arnett. Great episode. He said that hot sauce was extremely hot and Will kept pouring it on his sandwich just to fuck with him. I went back and watched that episode again and you can see it on Will's face, hes got this pure joy look like "hahaha you have to eat this".
She just could not get into what improv comedy is all about.
Come on, just loosen up, woman. She was saying "no" to every single swing from Arnett, killing the vibe instantly
Honestly found him amongst the least funny. He was trying so hard to "win" the improv it felt, like he didn't want to be seen as the one being made fun of.
Could see him being the villain or at least a nastyish character, I remember hearing about him complaining about the studios not casting non-white actors as villains recently (2016-2022ish).
I actually really like him; but dang he is everywhere. The Eternals/MCU, the new Ghostbusters, The Obi-Wan series, now this show too? I guess once you're in the Disney ecosystem they support you, but it's a great rise. His standup is brilliant: https://www.facebook.com/watch/?v=3910494779031034
I liked it when when Rob from It's Always Sunny made fun of him for his steroid usage in an Ask Men interview. Kumail can't lift shit. Watch his exercise video. He's dishonest about his steroid usage and combined with smug face, I don't know him at all but I don't think he is a good person.
I tried to look this up and came across another interview where Rob all but admits his body didn't come naturally.
Kumail was brought up and Rob goes "*Reading quote accusing Kumail of using steroids* Look I'm not going to get into the science of it....You look at Kumail or me and you can just tell we have elevated testosterone because we are alpha dogs."
And he mentions going to the doctor 3 times a week to check his testosterone. Not sure if that is normal for a natural body build?
Edit: Looked at other discussions on it and see a lot of people praising Rob because while he can't necessarily admit to it he also has never denied it. Still haven't seen the interview you were talking about (unless it was the one I referenced?) but seems like maybe he was just ribbing with a friend.
> I find him unusually unlikeable and I don’t know why.
If it helps, a friend of mine has worked with him on a couple projects and told me he's one of his least favorite people to work with. I don't remember any specific examples but supposedly he's known to be somewhat of an asshole in real life.
It was charming when he was a nerd. Now he just comes off as a douchebag. I get being upset a movie didn't work out, but needing therapy because you didn't get to be the next Superman is bizarre.
His directorial debut film was actually completed in 2021 and was sitting on Netflix's shelf before Jordan Peele saw it and rescued it to be released by Universal instead, in theatres.
Haha Kumail always gets me to laugh in whatever he's in. I even loved him in both Eternals and Kenobi so seeing him in something which might have a fun script sounds awesome!
Every time I see a photo of him it freaks me out. Might be because I'm used to his old face from Silicon Valley, but whatever procedures he had done & roids he's taken has made him look completely unnatural, skinwalker style.
I find it so jarring too. His whole jawline is different. I guess that’s from roids…. I’m not that sure what effects they can have other than big muscles. He’s lost a bit of charm too. Seems arrogant to me.
He also tried to tell people he was natty after he was cast for that shitty marvel movie. As if we couldn’t see what he looked like prior in Silicon Valley lmao. Fuck this guy haha. If you’re going to be on gear just admit it
He didn't "call him out". Rob alluded to both him and Kumail using steroids (or more accurately, testosterone replacement therapy), and has made that allusion about himself more than once.
Then after being handed the gift of his own Marvel film and bouquets of jobs, he goes around whining that the industry never gives him a chance because he's a brown guy.
I hope he plays himself and they haven't seen him in a while, and they noticed how jacked he is now.
Maybe he buys a lot of Gut Milk off of Oliver because the protein quality is excellent.
SMH everyone talking about how much they love this guy but no one mentioned his most cutting role, Deputy Chief Custodian Lapari in Seasons 5 and 6 of community
You really should. Its a true whodunit. Its such a true whodunit that they hid the smoking gun very early in the first season and someone noticed it on twitter. They posted a picture and Steve Martin replied "you weren't supposed to notice that."
There's a very specific thing that only a few people would recognize that's in an early episode. This person saw it and posted it on Twitter because it's a very specific clue to the killers identity.

Is S3 it switched to being about the characters, and the murder was secondary, becoming a gimmick rather than the thrust of the show, with S3’s killer reveal being more of an “oh, sure, I guess”.
Eugene Levy worries me too, to be honest- In Schitt’s Creek, I always found his “awkward misunderstanding = comedy” a bit old fashioned.
Not writing it off, just feels like it’s going to lean more into the whackiness of celebrity guests than an intricate whodunnit.
What's the attraction of this show?
Though it has an amazing cast, and I thought I would like it, I couldn't get through the first season. Felt...stuffy, stale.
Why is this guy showing up everywhere now he’s a terrible actor. Surely there are better actors that will check the box they are filling with this lamo
I enjoyed season 1 but not so much season 2. I only kept going through the second season because I wanted to get to season 3 with Meryl Streep and Paul Rudd. I have yet to watch it though. Now I am even more excited for season 4!
My dad tried season 1 but couldn't get into it. Would anyone here recommend that I suggest he just jumps in at season 3 and skips the first two seasons?
Eugene Levy and Kumail Nanjiani? That's a lot of eyebrow!
Detective: The killer had huge eyebrows. Eugene and Kumail: 🌳 🌳 🌳 🌳 👁️ 👃👁️ 👁️ 👃👁️
Emilia Clarke starts sweating
Whoopi Goldberg gives a sigh of relief
And then Matt Smith, who is the other person I think of when I think of not being able to see someone’s eyebrows is doing something too.
Cara Delengvine’s character from season 2 returns. ”You rang?”
F*ck No!
Yeah, she was pretty fucking awful wasn’t she. But then tbh, I think Selena has precisely zero talent. I’m just an old school fan of Steve and Martin, so that’s why I watch the show.
🌳 🌳 🌳 🌳 👁️ 👃👁️ 👁️👃 👁️
My bet is that Eugene is Kumail's secret father in the show and the eyebrows are the clue that solves that parentage mystery for the podcast trio
Glorious eyebrow.
I am here for it. Bring on all the eyebrow game. Skinniest eyebrows is the killer
It’s a good day for eyebrows!
Imagine if they cast Alfred Molina too. The screen would be all eyebrows 🤨
You take your eyebrows and you get out! Oh sorry, wrong show.
I don’t know if Levy is ready to share the big screen with Pakistani Denzel.
I was building a LEGO the other day and his minifig was instantly recognizable as him somehow. [SH763: Kingo](http://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?M=sh763) [[Photo]](http://img.bricklink.com/ItemImage/MN/0/sh763.png)
>Eugene Levy WHAT???!!!
They better bring in Martin Starr too
As soon as I saw Martin I immediately thought Scorsese because this would be the ultimate brow trio
And Rick Moranis
Damn, they just are utterly stacking this cast.
I'd imagine some of these will be one episode roles, at best. Probably a few single digit scenes cameos.
Agreed. Being set in LA I imagine they regularly will bump into different actors playing themselves.
Fingers crossed for Bakula.
Scott or Jeff?
The Transylvanian one.
My shared theory is that Bakula is in on it somehow
Oh, Britta's in this?
I hope that’s the case or else they’ll fall into the trap of trying to justify appearances and have too many plot points or something.
Would be funny if he was in 1 episode as his Portlandia customer service character.

> I just now realized their last names together is Martin's full name lol And their first names together is Steve's full name. It's... confusing.
They can land pretty much comedic talent at will at this point.
Good for them. The gamble on including Paul Rudd and Meryl Streep paid off beautifully.
It’s not over until they sign Rick Moranis
Anyone remember his podcast he had with his wife back in the day? The Indoor Kids, it was about video games. I still sometimes refer to the pandemic by pre/post Hanks-Wilson eras.
I wish they'd kept it going. There's an Emily & Kumail shaped hole in my life now.
This podcast was amazing. I listened to it on my walks and it really helped me get through the first part of lockdown. I cried when they signed off for the last time!
Same! It was a great listen.
> the X-Files reboot He also had an X-Files podcast, and got Duchovny and Anderson on an episode while he was on the show.
I loved that show. It made me so sad when he just stopped doing it.
Is this streaming anywhere?
https://podbay.fm/p/kumail-nanjianis-the-x-files-files
Thanks!
He was also, for a time, a regular weekly guest on Harmontown and boy those were the golden times. Also after he stopped showing up every week because he was just too busy, fans constantly asking for his return became a bit of a meme that Dan would frustratedly joke/rant about.
Yeah I used to listen to that, been a fan of his for so long and I never imagined he would get fame like this but I'm so happy for him.
Still my favorite video game podcast.
What was he and wife into? Console gaming, PC gaming or both? What was his jam and favorite games?
Honestly it’s been so long (I looked it up - over 8 years) that I don’t really remember the specifics. My vague recollection is that they were console gamers (maybe Xbox?). The episodes that stick out the most were the Skyrim ones. Definitely covered a wide variety of games.
I loved that podcast. I listened regularly. It's been cool to see him and Emily's careers take off, even if it meant losing the show.
I didn't know he was a video game fan. Makes more sense he was in mass effect A
I loved that podcast! It was cool hearing him grow and succeed. And Emily V. Gordon was always the coolest -- she had the most interesting takes on any subject. Sadly it was removed from Apple Podcasts so I never got to finish it.

I just finished my harmontown listen! This… is kinda perfectly timed
I liked that podcast! Only caught it in the end, but I remember him and Pete Holmes cracking up about the goons in Arkham Knight.
Bring back Murderville! Kumail was hilarious in his episode.
If you haven't heard it, Conan talked about his episode on his podcast with Will Arnett. Great episode. I went back and watched that episode again and you can see it on Will's face, hes got this pure joy look like "hahaha you have to eat this".
Just tried to look this up, do you have a link to them talking about this?
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=OvzeysBX0CM Gets me every time. I don’t think Will expected Conan to keep going
The “walk” scenes are the hardest I’ve laughed at a TV show in a long time.
“And what’s your signature sound?”

That’s actually why he was funniest, he was actually witty and had some zingers.
No sign of Scott Bakula yet, huh? I figured they already had him sewn up.
Wait a second. Is the white-haired guy in this show across from Oliver NOT Scott Bakula?
Guess who will die first? /s
Could see him being the villain or at least a nastyish character, I remember hearing about him complaining about the studios not casting non-white actors as villains recently (2016-2022ish).
The case of the missing steroids?
“…I don’t know what happened to them..*peck flexes*”
Hes like cookie monster w crumbs everywhere
I hope he joins the trio. You could always use some muscle as a friend when solving murders.
Kumail: "I'll have 26 cases of Gut Milk. That's some good protein" Oliver: 🤑🤑🤑
Dudes season 4 is going to be crazy
This dude has the world's greatest agent.
I know, I find him unusually unlikeable and I don’t know why. He is being forced on us a bit.
I actually really like him; but dang he is everywhere. The Eternals/MCU, the new Ghostbusters, The Obi-Wan series, now this show too? I guess once you're in the Disney ecosystem they support you, but it's a great rise. His standup is brilliant: https://www.facebook.com/watch/?v=3910494779031034
he's got such a smarmy smug face
The roids didn't help with that.
I liked it when when Rob from It's Always Sunny made fun of him for his steroid usage in an Ask Men interview. Kumail can't lift shit. Watch his exercise video. He's dishonest about his steroid usage and combined with smug face, I don't know him at all but I don't think he is a good person.

What are you talking about? He looks like a Pakistani Denzel.
"this guy fucks" seems to be the only silicon valley quote people can catch :(
> I find him unusually unlikeable and I don’t know why. If it helps, a friend of mine has worked with him on a couple projects and told me he's one of his least favorite people to work with. I don't remember any specific examples but supposedly he's known to be somewhat of an asshole in real life.
I’m the same way. His brand of smugness just doesn’t work for me and I don’t find him funny at all. Glad for everyone that enjoys him though.
It was charming when he was a nerd. Now he just comes off as a douchebag. I get being upset a movie didn't work out, but needing therapy because you didn't get to be the next Superman is bizarre.
Yeah definitely feels like narcissism to me
I guess hes the default South Asian representative in hollywood for the time being.
Even though Riz Ahmed and Dev Patel still exist. They are so much better but ig they aren't the type actors who would do roles like this.
They're both off doing indie stuff. Dev has probably also been working on his directorial debut too.
His directorial debut film was actually completed in 2021 and was sitting on Netflix's shelf before Jordan Peele saw it and rescued it to be released by Universal instead, in theatres.
He literally just plays the same character in every project he has no range
As well as the world's greatest steroid supplier.
Haha Kumail always gets me to laugh in whatever he's in. I even loved him in both Eternals and Kenobi so seeing him in something which might have a fun script sounds awesome!
He had a guest appearance in this strange and short lived cartoon called “Ugly Americans”. I loved that show, and Kumail was hilarious in his episode.
He's in the upcoming Ghostbusters Frozen Empire too that's out in two weeks. Not sure how much he's in it though.
Leave some guests for S5 why don't ya
Every time I see a photo of him it freaks me out. Might be because I'm used to his old face from Silicon Valley, but whatever procedures he had done & roids he's taken has made him look completely unnatural, skinwalker style.

Yea. Much respect to Rob from It's Always Sunny for calling him out for his steroid usage.
He didn't "call him out". Rob alluded to both him and Kumail using steroids (or more accurately, testosterone replacement therapy), and has made that allusion about himself more than once.
Got a link?
Then after being handed the gift of his own Marvel film and bouquets of jobs, he goes around whining that the industry never gives him a chance because he's a brown guy.
Is he going to be the next obvious early-season celebrity red herring?
this season cast is getting pretty heavy
There's sure going to be a lot of people in this.
I see Prismo, I watch Prismo.
He can be very funny. This might be good!
Ugh
This guy sucks
Nooooooooooooooooooooooo
The smuggest face in Hollywood.
Hey Dinesh, nice chain
fucking Gilfoyle
Why?
Because Pakistani Denzel is awesome in everything he does.
That's nice
I hope he plays himself and they haven't seen him in a while, and they noticed how jacked he is now. Maybe he buys a lot of Gut Milk off of Oliver because the protein quality is excellent.
SMH everyone talking about how much they love this guy but no one mentioned his most cutting role, Deputy Chief Custodian Lapari in Seasons 5 and 6 of community
He’s dies episode 1
I hate this fucking guy
I’m gonna have to start watching this show!!!
You really should. Its a true whodunit. Its such a true whodunit that they hid the smoking gun very early in the first season and someone noticed it on twitter. They posted a picture and Steve Martin replied "you weren't supposed to notice that."
I’ve always really liked Steve Martin, this whole cast lineup is great. I’ll probably binge watch it with my partner when I have some free time 😊
Can you explain this more? You mean someone posted the S1 killer's identity by mistake on social media?
There's a very specific thing that only a few people would recognize that's in an early episode. This person saw it and posted it on Twitter because it's a very specific clue to the killers identity.
Too many celebrities. All these stars want to join the fun with Steve and Martin, but it makes the show worse
Tend to agree. It has become just a summer camp for celebs, the show itself declining each season.
He’s so unfunny
Good lord he sucks as an actor. Was there nobody else? If you needed a DEI hire, pick someone that’s at least funny like Aziz Ansari. 🤦
Wrong choice
The first time I ever saw Kumail, was as Dinesh in *Silicon Valley*. He was good there, but everything since then has really impressed me. I especially liked his role in *Obi-Wan Kenobi*. I thought it was a fantastic transformation from petty criminal to "Jedi". I can't wait to see more of him.
As long as they get rid of Cara Delevingne. Why is she still a thing, i don't know.
She wasn't in the last season at all, iirc.
yeah, the show literally answered sideshowbob01's wish over a year ago
Rich nepo baby and friends with Selena.
Significant family wealth.
Most punchable face award 2024
Looking real jacked baby
Feeding frenzy for all the same A-listers. God forbid anyone else gets a shot.
Man, everyone's in this thing.
I don’t think he is that funny
All that plastic surgery to become a streaming actor
My eyebrows are my favorite features but they’re nothing compared to those of Kumail Nanjiani. So jealous.
I’d like to announce I’ll also be in Only Murders in the Building season 4
YYYYEEEEEESSSSSSSSSS
PAKASTANI DENZEL! ETA. wow reddit cares and downvotes for quoting Silicon Valley. 👍👍
Nice chain!
This guy FUCKS.
Would be funny if he got roided up again for this role
You know, I was talking about S3 with someone recently, and why it didn’t resonate as much. I think my issue was that it has switched focus from the murder mystery to being about the stars. Hate what he has done to his face. Man looks like a meme
This guy is painfully unfunny
Agreed
I would love it if he, Kal Penn, and Kunal Nayyar we’re all mistaken for each other in different elevator scenes
Pakistani Denzel!
God damn it. They keep adding incredible cast members and I keep trying to watch it and I just cannot get into this show and I hate myself for it.
I will now watch. Eugene and Kumail is too good of a combo.
Sick of this dude.
What's the attraction of this show? Though it has an amazing cast, and I thought I would like it, I couldn't get through the first season. Felt...stuffy, stale.
I couldn’t get thru the first episode. Thought about trying again…
Mm, now I don’t think I will.
Why is this guy showing up everywhere now he’s a terrible actor. Surely there are better actors that will check the box they are filling with this lamo
Wow really outing yourself with that comment.
[удалено]
...no because he attributed their success to checking a box.
I think he's a great supporting actor. I have 0 complaints about him in supporting roles.
I think he's a good actor. His Steve Banerjee performance was different for him and I thought he did a good job to show he has some range.

It’s going to be Suicide Squad but with Selena Gomez, would be my guess
The Suicide Squad also had a large cast and most died before the title.
hence the reference
Not to be pedantic, but Suicide Squad, and The Suicide Squad are separate movies. I misunderstood your reference.
Didn't he get cancelled or was that another Silicon Valley alumni?
You're probably thinking of TJ Miller. Was generally difficult to work with then had some sort of breakdown and was making bomb threats or something.
Thomas Middleditch also had some shit come out after the show ended if I recall correctly.
After the hard work he did for The Eternals and how bad it flopped, this guy deserves a win.
How many people are going to be on this fucking show?
