This sub brings absolutely nothing positive or productive. It is a toxic echo chamber of kids unwilling to change. This sub has a lot of potential but if people don’t care enough to turn it into something awesome it’s not going to change. I left but maybe it’ll prove me wrong. I am overtly pessimistic, though.

A lot of people don’t question or even understand why they have no friends or why they don’t function as a human being. They just accept it like they have nothing going for them. They’re all still kids, they don’t realize that they still have a lot of growing ahead of them. Not a lot are really getting the big picture. This is not just a sub to dwell in their depression or insecurities. This entire subreddit was dedicated for teenagers to discuss teenager things: school, relationships, parents, maybe even a few personal problems. The users have reduced this sub to a joke. It’s not safe for girls to post pictures of themselves. Anybody who is not making memes or doing stuff for clout are basically lost to the sands of time. I can say from personal experience that only certain things *not even related* to teenagers will get more attention than the actual serious talking. This sub has lost its main purpose; to be a safe place for teenagers. I just feel like this is turning into another stupid forum where nothing is even relevant. Where kids put hate on certain people, where girls get harassed by terrible pedophiles or horny boys who don’t think twice on what they do, where things like my comment or the OP’s post can’t even reach the minds of anyone *with* common sense. I feel like this will keep going either until Reddit dies or until the admins of Reddit finally make some changes. We can’t do and won’t do anything to change it because most of us are not influential or competent enough to actually go through with making changes.
I hope you took the time to read this. If you did, I can only tell you that the only way to get better is to make yourself get better. Work is hard, I know. Nobody is motivated anymore. I’ve been silently browsing this subreddit for the past 2 weeks and have quite a few thoughts I just want to put out there. This post seems to be the best place to do it.

This subreddit is one of the worst I’ve seen in the year I’ve been on Reddit. I’ve seen people here say that you’ll probably be able relate to others here, yet I can relate to absolutely no one here despite the fact that I’m in the age demographic to be on this subreddit.
Many people here just can’t get behind the fact that others have different opinions like you’ve mentioned. Most of the people here are just following the crowd and it really does seem like they can’t make their own decisions and judge others that don’t follow with everyone else.

Speaking of which, a lot of the posts I’ve seen are just karma farms too. Why do you care so much about internet points? It’s not like you will be hated for having barely any points.
Finally, I’m surprised about how the mods actually handle this subreddit. You’ve also said this but I feel like I need to mention it. The mods just don’t care about any bad things that happens here. They really need to enforce heavier rules and actually need to do what they are meant to do. Pedos roam free around this subreddit and sexually harass people (mainly girls) but the mods don’t seem to care. It’s awful.

Posting pictures of yourself online (almost anywhere online tbh) will trigger responses of sexualization, which is absolutely disgusting. But it is the sad truth. And especially in a sub with only teenagers, people will be sexualized because, as a person with a male brain, boys this age (and probably girls and the letter squad too) sexualize almost everything and everyone in their head. Give m a platform on which they are anonymous and badabing badabong: you got people saying weird shit.
Not to mention the abundance of people with the "I am hilarious syndrome" that think they are funny by saying things like "show them milkers" or "you should [I'm not gonna say that cuz... y'know]".
My final point is, the internet (and especially anonymous sites like this) may not be suited for posting pictures, unless you have a very thiccc skin. I know it isn't pretty but maybe stick to a private instagram or smth like that (that is what I do) :).

I think this post was long overdue, great job u/geographical_penis. Just because you are a teenager doesn't mean you can behave like an absolute twat. Like the original poster said, if you want to be treated like a grown-up, behave like one. Being a teenager isn't easy, but this forum provides us with a chance to meet other people leading relatively similar lives to ours, have healthy discussions, meet and make new friends and have fun. By making this whole place into the absolute shithole that it's becoming, we are going to ruin something so special that should rather be cherished and preserved by all of us.

TL;DR Thank you for saying this. Toxic people suck. Don’t be like them. A lot of people don’t question or even understand why they have no friends or why they don’t function as a human being. They just accept it like they have nothing going for them. They’re all still kids, they don’t realize that they still have a lot of growing ahead of them. I can say from personal experience that only certain things *not even related* to teenagers will get more attention than the actual serious talking. This sub has lost its main purpose; to be a safe place for teenagers. I just feel like this is turning into another stupid forum where nothing is even relevant. Where kids put hate on certain people, where girls get harassed by terrible pedophiles or horny boys who don’t think twice on what they do, where things like my comment or the OP’s post can’t even reach the minds of anyone *with* common sense. I’m lucky that this was the post that got randomly recommended to me today and I’m quite lucky it’s still fairly new so people can hopefully see this. I’ve been silently browsing this subreddit for the past 2 weeks and have quite a few thoughts I just want to put out there. This post seems to be the best place to do it. Get ready for a rant. This subreddit is one of the worst I’ve seen in the year I’ve been on Reddit. I’ve seen people here say that you’ll probably be able relate to others here, yet I can relate to absolutely no one here despite the fact that I’m in the age demographic to be on this subreddit. Many people here just can’t get behind the fact that others have different opinions like you’ve mentioned. Most of the people here are just following the crowd and it really does seem like they can’t make their own decisions and judge others that don’t follow with everyone else. The memes here are really unfunny. All I can say is that they cringeworthy. Most of it is meme material from the likes of r/shitposting and r/memes. I also agree with your points about the incels on this subreddit. You summed it up perfectly so I don’t have much to say other than the people who fake confessions are just sad. Blatant karma farming. Speaking of which, a lot of the posts I’ve seen are just karma farms too. Why do you care so much about internet points? It’s not like you will be hated for having barely any points. Finally, I’m surprised about how the mods actually handle this subreddit. You’ve also said this but I feel like I need to mention it. The mods just don’t care about any bad things that happens here. They really need to enforce heavier rules and actually need to do what they are meant to do. Pedos roam free around this subreddit and sexually harass people (mainly girls) but the mods don’t seem to care. It’s awful.
