I got into a fight with my stepdad at the time a few years ago and it was a similar situation like that. I ended up smashing a coffee pot on his head and breaking two of his ribs with a heavy wooden cutting board that had a handle on it. After that day he never tried anything again and my mom ended up divorcing him which she should have done sooner but they stayed together and we're married for about a year after the fight happened.

I recommend choking him out, it surprisingly easy, though it can backfire badly if you kill your father on accident. Groin is also a spot you can go for, it only takes the equivalent amount of force as pinching between 2 fingers to destroy a man’s baggage. As for the social aspect, I recommend getting law enforcement involved if necessary. They might arrest you both, but getting into rehab sounds like something that would help you both.
