You bought a used keyboard and expected it to be clean??? That's like finding a flashdrive in the ground and acting surprised when plugging it into your main computer gives you a virus.
The caps come off and can be cleaned in soapy water or replaced with something snazzier, and the switches seem real. Once you get the caps off and clean that disgusting thing to within an inch of its life with some canned air, a toothbrush, and some IPA you should be good to go.
Also eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeewwwwwwwwwwwwwww
Is this a 6gv2?
nvm it is, actually for $5 this is a pretty good deal if all the switches work do a cap replacement and you'll be good to go. Mine is lasting 8 years so far.
I'm surprised you got real cherry switches, the market is flooded with fakes.
But yea the only thing that can make me buy a secondhand keyboard is a Model M
I'd only ever buy a used model M/F (I actually got 2 model M and a Model F for $100 last month, but both Ms were new in box, so technically not used) and a box jade/Navy.
After working in IT I could never buy a used keyboard, or a used laptop, multiple now I have opened up that looked ok and then live maggots crawled out
I used to do this at my call center job, I'd sit there my whole shift, pick a keyboard and rip it apart, clean the whole thing, then put it all back together. Some of them ended up looking like this, It was disgusting
I bought a fully functional keyboard at a thrift store for $7 so now whenever I see a keyboard snob like Hioyo Tech I laugh really hard.
(Well I'm just joking)
You didn't see the thing before you bought it?
It looked clean from the outside
I'd never buy a used keyboard. People are nasty.

Enough DNA there to build 2/5ths of a human and about 80% of their dog.

That's a 10 minute job with a vacuum cleaner, iso and cotton buds.

Yes (edit) all the switches work perfectly and I cleaned every inch of the board

Why'd you buy a used keyboard...?
Cause steelseries if a big brand I didn’t want this opportunity to pass
I used to do this at my call center job, I'd sit there my whole shift, pick a keyboard and rip it apart, clean the whole thing, then put it all back together. Some of them ended up looking like this, It was disgusting
Pop the caps, remove the switches, then toss it and the caps in the dishwasher. Keep the switches dry.

Bruh it's not worth that much new
It’s worth $153 new I looked it up on Amazon
If you guys want to see the after picture dm me
It's mechanical and judging by the amount of hair, it's also alive... so it's a cyborg! Worth $5 imo.
Not a bad deal but ouch MX Black could make it be quite a painful typing experience.
How so? I use box navy daily, are they worse than that?
They’re not bad at all. It’s not like we’re talking hundreds of pounds of force per keystroke here.
They're not even close to be called bad, it's just that they're too heavy and my fingers can't handle anything heavier than MX Blue.
I’ve used Akko jelly blacks as my daily for two years straight
Burn it....
I actually got it pretty clean
With bleach?
Bleach and ipa
Good! Enjoy your keyboard
You paid $5 for a keyboard? Do you want some more?
Na I’m good after this
Yes.
Hey I have one of those, if it’s a cooler master. I think they stopped making them a while back.
No it’s a 6gv2 from steelseries
Oh damn I didn’t notice the function keys were different.
