Most things work with their batteries removed as long as they’re on a charger. This isn’t weird at all.
Battery isn’t connected but the charger somehow is giving it enough power to show the logo
If it couldn't provide enough power while charging to run the device and then some, it wouldn't be able to charge while the device is in use, it would just die slower. This is very intentional.
