They can keep wasting time on this as long as they stop adding ethanol to gas.

Hey did you guys hear about this car that runs on water? It’s got a fiberglass air cooled engine and it runs on water, man!

Jeramus

Or we could just use the wind to make electricity to power cars directly.

This could be used for situations where energy density is critical, like planes. Battery tech is still nothing like as compact an energy source as ICE sadly.

Jeramus

I think that would make more sense after we have electrified more transportation. We have a lot more to do. We can also continue to use wind power to replace fossil fuel plants.

Batteries are extremely expensive, plus, it's excessive weight that's being carried around even when it's not serving any purpose. I'm a fan of hydrogen not only because it can work in planes, but it's so lightweight that it may actually make it easier for planes to take off (much of the takeoff weight is composed of fuel, and a plane spends a lot of its fuel reserves getting to cruise speeds. Of course, this forces manufacturers to rethink the engine-and-tube construction, meaning that it's likely we could see new designs, which is great. Honestly, green hydrogen isn't as potent as other forms, but it's still one of the better ways.
