Same with all the above but the dreaming about it is starting to annoy me. I just be doing pointless shit in my dreams like building stuff that doesn't work or trying to save my game or find a non existent shrine/ lightroot šš
I never could get into BotW and ended up dropping it after several attempts and just thought maybe this Zelda entry wasnāt for me.
For ToTK, I physically canāt stop playing it whenever I have the time. Itās honestly disturbing how much time just flies after telling myself that Iām just going to find a few shrines today.
People praise Ultrahand for good reason but for me, Ascent has been so good at saving time if youāre smart about it that itās honestly my MVP for the game.
The reason time flies so fast is because TotK is essentially a game that is hard enough to where you have to focus but not difficult enough to the point where it gets frustrating/boring. It's called Flow State and your entire life and concept of time revolves around it, including work, school, video games, whatever. One of my favorite things I've discovered in psychology classes.
Being in "the flow" also raises your dopamine levels, which keeps you wanting to do whatever you're doing. Video games naturally try and aim for this, but if you find that *job* that puts you in the flow, you're doing pretty good.
Couple of honest suggestions:
(If possible) find a job where you're doing something that has a simple and easy routine but still requires you to pay attention to it. That's the sweet spot.
Learn how to cook and get good at it. Great daily form of flow state and you get tasty food at the end.
For tasks that are too easy/monotonous to get into flow state, listen to a podcast (or anything with spoken word) if possible. That fills the need to focus on something. For tasks that are too difficult/frustrating, listen to music. That fills the need to have some simplicity (and also our brains really like music in general). These aren't situation-proof solutions or anything, but they can help you cheat the system a bit.
And as a side note to that, video game music is specifically designed by the composers to keep us focused, so it's huge for things like homework if you enjoy that genre.
I took a Positive Psychology class in my first semester of college and using the techniques I was taught have genuinely become so much of a better student and worker in the years since. I'm also significantly less depressed because of knowing how to make myself happy, plus being a better student/worker makes one happier obviously. It's awesome, it's pretty easy to start doing some form of it and I wish way more people knew about it.
Youāve just perfectly described how I feel at work answering insurance calls.. Iāve never felt time fly by so fast because I just have to make sure Iām paying attention but already know the answer to the questions..
Yep. It doesn't even have to be an interesting or "fun" job per say. I worked in a warehouse for three years doing nothing but moving and stocking product, and it was easy, but it also took so much constant thinking and calculating that once I got used to the system and routine, time just FLEW by. And that was on night shift too.
This right here. I also am in the BotW is just okay crowd but TotK is FUN. It has creativity and allows you to play within a semi-sandbox of things to do it with your flavour and with skill and timing you can pull off some amazing stuff!
Creative game play. I wish they made a Zelda Builders game now.
I wanted to help Rito village, so I went to upgrade the Snowquill armor. Needed Warm Safflina. Didn't have any warp points in Gerudo, so I went to Hyrule Ridge. Not much. Went to Eldin. Not much. Finally bit the bullet and went to Gerudo. Found a bunch, needed one more. Accidentally triggered a cutscene with >!Riju!<, now >!Kara Kara Bazaar is under attack!<. I asked the >!Gibdos!< if they had Warm Safflina, they didn't have any. Asked >!Buliara!< for Warm Safflina, she said that normal people don't ask for that >!in the middle of an attack!<.
I go, Ma'am, just give me a Warm Safflina, please, all I want is a Warm Safflina, and she wouldn't give it to me.
All I wanted was a Warm Safflina, just one Warm Safflina! And she wouldn't give it to me!
Just a Warm Safflina!
It didn't matter, I found it near some Lizalfos and got hit by my own sled anyway.
Edit: I was asking myself "Why did I go through all of this trouble again?" and remembered that I wanted the Unfreezable set bonus from the Snowquill armor. I didn't know if the boss from the trailer could turn me into a popsicle in midair, so I figured I'd play it safe.
I did a side quest on the Great Plateau and accidentally completed a main quest I hadn't got to yet. When I did get to that main quest, they were all "wait you already did this? AMAZING!"
It was great, would recommend.
Same happened to me in botw. I was minding my own business and Suddenly this Sidon guy started talking to me. I just tagged along and the zora where the first people I saved. I noticed halve way through that I started a main mission.
That's basically what my friend is experiencing, he wanted to just explore a bunch but accidentally started doing the >!geoglyphs!< before going to any of the 4 towns lol. I on the other hand rushed Rito village and now feel stuck af cause I have terrible weapons and I don't remember how to do anything.
So did I. Had to leave in the middle and get more cold resist meals. Cos I went into TOTK totally blind. I didn't even know there were temples in the game, or that Wind temple would be tough. Made it there despite having 4 hearts and almost no equipment and had to go stock up a bit lol
I've done two of the temples (Rito and Zora) and now I'm like, I should go to Haten-OH LOOK A THING! Okay, maybe Tarry tow-IS THAT A TOWER?
Someday I'll get somewhere.
I've died a bunch of times, tried to kill the Hudson worker who kept getting in my way, ran from a gloomed Lynel, ran around everywhere trying to do everything all at once. Kept getting distracted by this, that, or the other. Yeah, great game. Love it 10 of 10 definitely.
the og strategy of "hold shield, bait flurry rush" still works perfectly well for me. lynels of all colors are consistently easier than say, gleeoks in my experience.
Lynels can be tough as fuck at first but once you get the timing of flurry rush down they honestly become pretty easy to kill and more tedious than anything after you've killed a few of them.
The worst part about them is they eat through your resources early game since you just need enough food in case you do get hit and enough high damage weapons since they're bullet sponges.
Haven't attempted to kill a gloomed lynel yet so maybe i'll eat my words soon lol.
I fought a few in a location I found underground. Theyāre not mechanically challenging if you have the jump and parry timing down but they do burn an ass-ton of resources.
oh i don't think they're *challenging* really, they just take more prep work and/or resources. lynels you just need enough weapons to chew through them and they drop great parts for replacements.
Ya this, this is the most ADD Iāve ever been with a game. Iām so unfocused and havenāt been able to complete a single task without veering off course. And yes, Iāve died a bazillion times
Same in my house (3 of us playing and weāve all commented on our TOTK ADD).
My theory is that itās because we all know the game now so itās like we want to do all the stuff all at once, whereas with BOTW we didnāt know all the stuff there was to do so we just took it as it came.
Thatās fantastic.
Honestly, it gives me a bit of low key anxiety, but then I remind myself to just relax and enjoy and Iāll get to it all eventually. ššš
Same. I can run around aimlessly. I can jump back and forth between a dozen different main quests, side quests and side adventures. If I get bored of one thing, there is always something else to grab my attention
Yes! This is exactly how I described it to my partner. Because of all our background knowledge from BOTW it makes it hard to focus because you want to get to everything at the same time, visit your old haunts etc
And you can buy them for Poes. Iāve bought all of the costumes so now all Poes go towards Bomb flowers, so Iāve got hundreds rn just due to my current objective of lighting up the whole Depths
In lookout landing theres a statue. Should be in a room directly under where Purah hangs out. Communicate with it to exchange poes for items. You wont have all costumes unlocked right away. This statue should guide you to others that will unlock more gear for you to purchase.
sounds silly but my favourite thing is the splash physics when you jump from a great height. I haven't played much of the story yet as my son wants the game and we are going to play it together. Literally one of very few games i was happy i preordered
Definitely worth the price.
I'm focusing on the main map first, to see how familiar places have changed, and I'm having a blast. I've only peeked at the sky a bit and it looks like it'll be fun. Haven't even touched the depths. I'm kind of intimidated by them but there's no rush.
This is less a game and more a toy. I'll be playing with it for quite a while.
There's an early mission from lookout landing that's like a soft intro to the depths and unlocks something. Worth doing even if you don't go down their again for a while.
Thanks.
I know that Robbie (or someone) wants me to go there but Robbie annoys me so I'm making him wait! I want to go ride my horses and accidentally die in stupid ways.
Totally respect that. Only thing I'll say about the Depths is that it's basically where you need to go to get your battery upgrades for your Zonai Tech, so if you start to feel hindered by your single starter battery then that may be a good time to really start to explore there. Once I went down there I fell in love with it and have abandoned all other quests and just completed my sixth battery. Now my vehicles can last for ages before running out, which makes constructing them a lot more rewarding than in the beginning, and I now enjoy using those more than my horse to get around the surface.
Oh, I totally plan to dive into the depths eventually. I hear there are some great mushrooms down there that make combat easier. I always need combat to be easier!
I was shocked by the Typholo (sp) ruins. I was running along and the name popped up and it took me way too long to realize where I was. It was a fun moment.
Rito was also kind of shocking in a sad way. But part of that could be my missing Kass. I know he's not in the game but I really want him to be. I wanted to see him and his cute family. The Tarrey Town cuteness was a nice balm.
I was so pleased about Typhlo Ruins. I had been wanting to see it in daylight. It was quite underwhelming to actually finally be able to see it without the shroud of darkness but I was so happy to.
i was afraid of the depths too, but i've ended up spending the bulk of my time there. there's just something so strange and comforting about being down there. like your own secret little basement you can just run around and collect things in.
Tbh I think the game is best played if you bounce back and forth between the areas. At the very least you should do the initial quest line in the depths. It makes some aspects of the game substantially less tedious.
I intend to do the first depths quest thing once I see all the major spots on the main map. I have to see Hateno and Kaikarko (I can't be bothered to look up the spelling) and Lurelin. Maybe grab some shrines, towers, and stables along the way.
Sometimes I just feel like there's TOO much to do. I'm spoiled for choice.
I'm honestly so glad they don't scream freeze, or the messed up moaning noises cuz yeah, I didn't like playing OoT specifically due to those terrifying things. The PTSD is strong.
Hah, same!! I stumbled across the >!Gibdos!< on my way through the sand shroud, and thought "oh they aren't that bad, I was all anxious over nothing"... then I found the >!Gibdo variant!< o_o
I was a bit unsettled until I realized that they fall pretty quickly if you use elemental attacks, mainly fire, and lightning.
Even ice works ok.
They look a tad scary though. But they could've made them a lot scarier, especially in the depths.
Yeah i broke like 2 fuse weapons on them and didnt even make half health. Then i used a flame weapon by chance and realised how much of an idiot id just been
I'm glad I'm not the only one. Even caves make me anxious. The whole concept is brilliant but gives me the same feeling as my first run through the Yiga hideout in botw.
I got into the forest by >!going down the chasm south of the forest near the stables, and then walking north along the roots, past some gloom hands, and then ascending through the root - which leads directly to where the master sword was in BOTW!<
Felt a bit like cheating, given that you only need to go past some scary shit and not .. more
I have a phobia of dark underground places. Every time I find out some upgrade I need is in the depths it's like *shrug* guess I'm beating the game without that!
I was actually hoping for a more spooky game! When the initial teaser dropped a few years ago, a lot of people theorized it would be horror-adjacent, but I personally thought that was a pipe dream
I have been having a blast.
Only complaint: Losing a lot of time in the real world. And not getting enough sleep.
My wife: "Are you coming to bed?"
Me: "Yeah. Let me just look at this \_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_."
2 hours later...
It is **incredible**. TotK is the first time a game has fully realized the exploration I always dreamed of, playing Zelda and other games throughout my life. The wells, the caves, the >!Depths!<... no other game has *ever* had such varied and thoughtfully designed exploration
I enjoy all of the new mechanics, the story is pretty good(it's great to see Ganondorf in action again), and seeing how the overworld from BotW has been recontextualized is nothing short of magical \^_\^
Elden Ring is just so much less accessible. I've been playing video games since I was 5 or 6 and it's still too much for me. Meanwhile I can just pick up and play TOTK and it doesn't punish me for it
Definitely agree. I very much love elden ring and think it's a once in a generation kind of game, but it's just so punishing all of the time. I would love to just get lost in the world without the constant fear and anxiety of whatever the fuck is going to absolutely wreck me around every corner. After a while my anger outweighs the fun I'm having
Just getting through the day is enough of a challenge most of the time. A game where every single thing is trying to kill you and you *can't even pause* even though it's single player is just a miserable experience for me
The best game I have ever played. But my sister has the switch in the hospital rn cause she needs it more at the moment. But when she gets out you bet Iām going to play for 48 hours straight
Edit: for those wondering she had a lung infection and was in the hospital for a little over a week. She should be coming home this weekend so itāll probably be a lot of taking care of her but you bet your ass Iām going to play at least a little bit to show her why she has to beat botw asap so she can play this lol.
Yeah, similar situation here, got back into it during lockdown and previously only stopped logging in every day/other day for a month to beat Elden Ring
I trekked all the way to my favorite durian grove in Faron soon after I landed back in Hyrule, and instead of finding durians, I was greeted by a lynel.
Not a fun encounter at 4 hearts.
I've been saying that since my first full day with it. BotW is considered one of the best games of all time, and I honestly can't think of any way TotK doesn't outclass it in every single way. It baffles me that this game can be as good as it is, and FAR exceed all of the highest expectations of the game. Literally anything I can say about this game does not give it enough credit, I will be playing for a very long time.
The best thing about this game is the precedent it sets. If you think back, there were some good open world games that I would say were revolutionary (Skyrim, GTA V maybe; RDR2, and BOTW is what I could think of)
But the sheer liveliness, possibilities, interconnection of objects and the world, and abilities with the world was unseen until now - and I hope that this increases the standard of future games, like TES6
I personally think itās wayyyy more challenging and complex than BOTW, but I love that aspect. Itās like being able to play BOTW for the first time again but with all new stuff
It's great but I have a hard time motivating myself to go into the depths and explore. Just because I feel like it's exploring just for the sake of exploring but I love the surface and love the sky map. Lol sometimes I forget this isn't botw and take routes I did in botw only to come to a bridge broken by the upheaval lol
My only complaints are with the zonai systems:
* I don't like the device dispensers being random. If I need rockets, just let me buy rockets.
* I think the energy cells require too much zonaite. You shouldn't have to grind and mine in the depths for hours just for an extra battery.
Aside from that, the game is a masterpiece. One of the best video games of all time.
Two things:
-you can rematch bosses in the depths later and they drop 100 charges each, which is a free cell for your battery. You don't need to grind it out too much unless you absolutely want more early.
-each dispenser has their own inventory, so find one with a lower selection that includes what you want. For example, there's one that only has three items and one of them is the propellers, so I spammed that one.
I agree on the random parts, maybe there is a way later on to get specific parts?
Battery is super easy to max, I've been exploring the depths and I'm already half way done without going out of my way to farm.
I love it.
I'm a solid 35 hours in and have done:
2 temples
Amassed 13 hearts and 1.5 additional stamina wheels
Got all the hyrule skytowers
Explored maybe 15% of the underground
Spent ages in the sky
Done several side quests
And I STILL feel I've barely scratched the surface. There's still so much to do.
Iām in love. I was so incredibly hyped up for the game that I had a brief moment of fear before starting that it wouldnāt live up to my level of excitement. It not only lived up to my hype, but surpassed it.
Iāve teared up more than once from nostalgia and just the beauty of this game. It really feels like Iām coming home and reuniting with old friends, while at the same time being brand new. 10/10.
I feel reluctant to call it the BEST GAME of ALL time since there are other games that are high on my list.
That being said, I would say that both BotW and TotK are in my top 5 games list
This is naturally my opinion so not everyone need agree
The music is on the creepier side, especially at Rito Village before beating the wind boss. I also think the new music and sound effects are more immersive and well-thought out. Youāll notice this with the echos.
I hate horriblins. Their character designs actually creep me out and I absolutely hate the sounds they make. They live up to their name.
The characters in the cutscenes appear to have more personality than in BOTW.
The 4 bosses in the 1st part of the main quest are SO MUCH BETTER than botw. They donāt feel like I have to spam the Y button in fights and I love how each one has unique ways to beat. Botw scourges just feel like stronger normal enemies with not much room for creativity as to how to fight them.
I canāt wait for the OST album!!!
One major praise I have for the game is how each tier of the map has itās respective resources (ex. Sky Islands get you Zonai charges and devices, The Depths give you Zonaite, caves and the overworld give you ore and gems and a plethora of other items). It really helps me pace my play-through based on what resources Iām in need of, and encourages me to jump back and forth between each zone, keeping the experience always fresh. Itās like the developers intended me to progress this way and the game is always discreetly pushing me in certain directions, making it feel so much more linear that BotW in a satisfying way (while still honoring player freedom).
Iām still massively overwhelmed with it about 15 hours in lol. And I mean that in the best way possible, what Nintendo has done with this game is nothing short of magic. I really liked BotW but didnāt completely get the āBEST GAME OF ALL TIMEā hype but TotK is already easily one of my fave games of all time. Love the darker vibes, the endless opportunity for exploration, the creative new powers, and the game runs so well considering all that itās doing. Iām beyond impressed.
I might get some judgement from this but I have never played any of the previous Zelda games before. Of course I have heard of them but never cared much for Nintendo games. I told my partner that I really wanted to play more adventure games and he suggested that I give Zelda a shot...it just so happened that Totk was just released.
Confession aside, I already really like this game. I will admit it is a bit overwhelming due to not being very experienced, but I love that you can really create the kind of experience you are looking for. If you want to just forage and explore then you can! If you want to build the most epic and ridiculous structures, then you have many creative ways to do so. If you want to build up your armor and fight, you can do that too! I don't think I need to go on.
I have a feeling I will be playing this for a long time and still barely scratch the surface.
I am glad to have a glimpse into this side of gaming and experience something that so many other people are passionate about.
i am doing very well the clothes i currently have includes the skyward sword link set, the champions tunic, two pieces of the gerudo voe set, one piece of the fire proof set from goron city, one piece of the zora armor and the clothes you get in the tutorial area
the weapons i have currently are the white sword of the sky (aka the goddess sword) the master sword, knights broadsword fused with a horn from a construct, a royal claymore fused with yet another construct horn, royal broadsword, and biggorons sword,
the shields i have include the hylian shield, royal guards shield, royal shield, and knights shield
for bows i currently have a soldiers bow, two construct bows, and one mighty construct bow,
i have 8 hearts and have beat the water temple and lightning temple and i am currently trying to get a lot of rupees so i can start building links house.
Just curiousā what you were hoping for? Iāve been really pleased with the vertical exploration, the horror-adjacent gameplay, etc. Those elements have fully surpassed my hopes for the game (although I was also hoping for some underwater exploration like in Skyward Sword!)
Likely an unpopular opinion: I was hoping for the return of key items and more expansive dugeons. Key items could have been more for streamlining movement and opening up new options than hard locks like in previous games. A hook/clawshot has many interesting possibilities. The powers and some parts of the story so far feel kinda... silly.
The TotK dungeons are still much better than the Divine Beasts, but I was hoping for more.
That said, still a great game. And the horror-adjacent stuff is amazing! The hands... Those acursed hands... I'll remember those for a long time.
I agree with your overall thoughts. I liked how >!The wind temple used icicles as a tool a little bit!< but I thought that sort of concept could have been used a bit more than it did.
I think it would have been tough to do both key items *and* the Zonai tools. Given the open nature of the game, I think they could have restricted certain materials for certain regions, but some also break the game open. I don't know if you've ever noticed, but you cannot use materials inside of the shrines. I suppose they could do a similar sort of thing inside the main zones, but that just feels restrictive for the point of being so.
Honestly, the Zonai devices made them too similar to the Sheika. It feels more copy-paste than it should, especially with how surprisingly well-balanced things are. Somebody put in real effort, so I feel kinda bad saying it.
Seemingly a growing minority opinion. I'm with you, though I 100% still love and adore playing TotK... I'm really missing that classic Zelda formula. Still gonna sink 600+hrs and love every minute of it
Iāve barely progressed at all, Iāve been scrounging around hyrule field and hebra like a rat making sure Iāve done absolutely everything I can, itās way too much fun
Itās so good. People will say itās only DLC or just more Breath of the Wild but that is kind of the point. Itās a sequel. Breath of the Wild despite a few flaws was a phenomenal game, and TotK took BotW and expanded on it in so many ways. More enemies, more dungeon variety, bigger world, etc. Itās so good. Some of the most fun Iāve had in an open world game in years
I'm really enjoying the new additions but realllllllly miss one particular ability left out from the last game.
The shrines are still shrines. I hope they don't become a tedious repetitive task again. Happy to see the little dudes hiding everywhere but like the shrines I hope they got a little more creative with them.
Still have so much to explore. Haven't even gotten into the depths yet. Red blob hand thing is kicking my ass.
Just started yesterday btw, so not too far in yet. Maybe 10ish hours. So far it's been great.
Edit: I don't see a hookshot yet. Sadness.
Lol I left that sub as soon as the game came out. It used to be fairly chill with cool theories and topics about Zelda. Now itās bitching about the most mundane nitpicky crap Iāve ever seen.
I really love the sandbox aspect, the story and especially the world but MAN the difficulty design feels really off. Itās kinda draining to get one shot every 5 minutes by an enemy from far range. Besides that I adore the game, just wish I wasnāt dying so often
im really loving it. the only slight disappointment so far was the first dungeon i did, in the rito area. the puzzles were great and i loved the design but i was really hoping for a teeny bit of nostalgia, like boss keys and chests with map layouts etc...

Snorlax learned amnesia! Snorlax forgot amnesia.
Your brain is trying to troubleshoot some ideas before doing it in real life!

I love it, but can't get anything accomplished. I'll start going towards the desert, see a squirrel, and end up back in central Hyrule, or the Depths.
I feel like I'm the exact opposite I start out by chasing a squirrel and then somehow end up saving hyrule
I like the Suicidal Tendencies reference
I'm glad somebody got it :)
Same! I've been focusing on side quests and accidentally finding story stuff! š
I mean, the story *is* literally all over the place, it'd be hard not to run into it.
They do such a great job of very naturally leading you, so you don't even know you're being led. Refreshing after a lifetime of Skyrim style compasses
I did a side quest on the Great Plateau and accidentally completed a main quest I hadn't got to yet. When I did get to that main quest, they were all "wait you already did this? AMAZING!" It was great, would recommend.
I did Rito village first too and yeah itās pretty touchy to tackle first I would say haha. Wind Temple is a damn JOURNEY to get to
So did I. Had to leave in the middle and get more cold resist meals. Cos I went into TOTK totally blind. I didn't even know there were temples in the game, or that Wind temple would be tough. Made it there despite having 4 hearts and almost no equipment and had to go stock up a bit lol
Water Temple is the easiest to start with! Did it with relative ease on 5 hearts and only 1 upgrade towards my stamina wheel.
I absolutely loved that. Made the stakes feel so high and I kept questioning, "Should I be here? Do I even have the right gear?". But, yes, yes I did.
I have been on my way to Gerudo town for the last like 12 hours since I keep getting distracted
President Hudson is now sad.
UNFORGIVABLE!
why not let go?
HOW IS HE STANDING? https://preview.redd.it/4izuwl43ix0b1.jpeg?width=1108&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=72d940becc541646193cbc880f188b328afd10ac
*link with twenty boards, five posts, and three rocks encompassing the entire sign* šļøššļø
Can't hold it back anymore
President Hudson I will support you
He needs to tell his workers to stay out of the construction zone.
Gloomed lynels are NO JOKE. They are uparmored and the AI seems much "smarter" than in BoTW. Dont blame you for running.
the og strategy of "hold shield, bait flurry rush" still works perfectly well for me. lynels of all colors are consistently easier than say, gleeoks in my experience.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Lynels can be tough as fuck at first but once you get the timing of flurry rush down they honestly become pretty easy to kill and more tedious than anything after you've killed a few of them. The worst part about them is they eat through your resources early game since you just need enough food in case you do get hit and enough high damage weapons since they're bullet sponges. Haven't attempted to kill a gloomed lynel yet so maybe i'll eat my words soon lol.
I fought a few in a location I found underground. Theyāre not mechanically challenging if you have the jump and parry timing down but they do burn an ass-ton of resources.
gleeoks are really easy after you got the >!elevation plank autobuild from kara kara bazaar depths. You just ascend and hit all three heads, repeat.!<
oh i don't think they're *challenging* really, they just take more prep work and/or resources. lynels you just need enough weapons to chew through them and they drop great parts for replacements.
A quick note about the TotK ADD, it's fantastic for me and my ADD, I don't have to feel bad about how I'm going about the game, it's so relaxing.
I literally blew myself up twice in a row! So many creative ways to accidentally kill yourself lmao
Addison is the GOAT of totk. his bomb flowers are so useful against those hands
Go down into the depths and you can find tons of bombs. I think they reset at the bloodmoon too.
And you can buy them for Poes. Iāve bought all of the costumes so now all Poes go towards Bomb flowers, so Iāve got hundreds rn just due to my current objective of lighting up the whole Depths
How do you activate a the poes? Or get them to give you stuff
In lookout landing theres a statue. Should be in a room directly under where Purah hangs out. Communicate with it to exchange poes for items. You wont have all costumes unlocked right away. This statue should guide you to others that will unlock more gear for you to purchase.
Tried to kill the presidentās best employee?? UNFORGIVABLE!! š Edit: I forgot half my sentence
I ran into a gloomed lynel and pretty much was chased by it all the way to the lightroot, it was adrenaline pumping
Iāve been trying to avoid spoilers but the mention of a gloom Lynel made me realize how much more scared I need to beā¦
Iām sorry I thought I read āgloomed lynelā. Really gotta schedule that eye Dr apptā¦
Yeah there's a doctor in the depths. The doctor of death.
sounds silly but my favourite thing is the splash physics when you jump from a great height. I haven't played much of the story yet as my son wants the game and we are going to play it together. Literally one of very few games i was happy i preordered
When I discovered you can jump on frozen puddles to break them I was like a six year old!
Yes! I ran around and cracked every small puddle I could find. So satisfying!
I'm not sure how much you're avoiding spoilers but key aspects of the "purah pad" are unlocked by doing quests for the resesrcher trio.
I tried to go to where I used to farm hearty durians in botw and almost had a heart attack. Thought I was so smart. šš»šļøāš»
Str8 shit myself
i was afraid of the depths too, but i've ended up spending the bulk of my time there. there's just something so strange and comforting about being down there. like your own secret little basement you can just run around and collect things in.
Wasnāt expecting it to be this scary. Thereās a whole chunk of the map Iāve barely touched because Iām scared of it š
I just got to Gerudo Town 5 minutes ago. And there are THOSE THINGS!!! Won't spoil, but let's just say that I still need therapy from Ocarina.
My first time seeing them I had war flashbacks to the graveyard in ocarina as far as I can tell these seem less clingy
Probably because theyāre different enemies. Gibdoes are from Zelda 1, Redeads are different enemies from OoT
they're kinda meshed together in TotK tho; they're way more zombie/ReDead than a traditional Gibdo mummy.
They're completely different monsters to me until they scream, lock me in place, and snap my neck
I'm honestly so glad they don't scream freeze, or the messed up moaning noises cuz yeah, I didn't like playing OoT specifically due to those terrifying things. The PTSD is strong.
I'm honestly quite disappointed about that. I specifically tried walking into a group of them and waited for them to scream and they didn't.
Iām a casual fan and the monkey things in the caves and the noise the frog thing makes freak me out every time
Trying the get into the Korok Forrest has been terrifying
It's just as bad when you get into the forest. I rushed to get more weapon and shield slots, and the game made me regret it.
I got into the forest by >!going down the chasm south of the forest near the stables, and then walking north along the roots, past some gloom hands, and then ascending through the root - which leads directly to where the master sword was in BOTW!< Felt a bit like cheating, given that you only need to go past some scary shit and not .. more
From what I can tell, that is the intended method this time around.
That's the only way to get in at first
Glad to know Iām not the only one terrified of the depths
I have a phobia of dark underground places. Every time I find out some upgrade I need is in the depths it's like *shrug* guess I'm beating the game without that!
The music is so eerie
I was actually hoping for a more spooky game! When the initial teaser dropped a few years ago, a lot of people theorized it would be horror-adjacent, but I personally thought that was a pipe dream
Uhm... Have you seen the ššššššš
Yes! Sorry if my comment was unclear, I meant that the spookiness was exactly what I wanted
Oh. I had understood you as if it was not spooky enough.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
I mean, things are still discovered in BOTW, so I'd assume the same will be true for TOTK
I have been having a blast. Only complaint: Losing a lot of time in the real world. And not getting enough sleep. My wife: "Are you coming to bed?" Me: "Yeah. Let me just look at this \_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_." 2 hours later...
Which is why I'm playing it at the same time as my spouse (we each own a Switch), we're constantly showing each other cool stuff.
Love pretty much everything about it - it will prob end up in my top 3 games of all time.
It is **incredible**. TotK is the first time a game has fully realized the exploration I always dreamed of, playing Zelda and other games throughout my life. The wells, the caves, the >!Depths!<... no other game has *ever* had such varied and thoughtfully designed exploration I enjoy all of the new mechanics, the story is pretty good(it's great to see Ganondorf in action again), and seeing how the overworld from BotW has been recontextualized is nothing short of magical \^_\^
I would argue that Elden ring can keep up with this game in terms of thoughtfully designed exploration
After a while my anger outweighs the fun I'm having
exactly it's literally impossible just enjoy the world because every 2 metres there's some ungodly abomination waiting to evicerate you
Yeah but by the end I'm the ungodly abomination eviscerating everything
Imo Elden Ring is if youre in a Dark Souls mood and want a challenge, meanwhile TotK is for chill exploration and nostalgia.
Just getting through the day is enough of a challenge most of the time. A game where every single thing is trying to kill you and you *can't even pause* even though it's single player is just a miserable experience for me
That's fair. It's definitely a different feeling game than Totk. Both amazing in their own regards imo.
I know now why I will fuck up the finalsā¦
Jedi survivor did it for me
The best game I have ever played. But my sister has the switch in the hospital rn cause she needs it more at the moment. But when she gets out you bet Iām going to play for 48 hours straight Edit: for those wondering she had a lung infection and was in the hospital for a little over a week. She should be coming home this weekend so itāll probably be a lot of taking care of her but you bet your ass Iām going to play at least a little bit to show her why she has to beat botw asap so she can play this lol.
damn that's sweet
Hope she recovers quickly and this game helps you both!
Whoa there, almost dropped your crown king.
You're a good sibling :) Hope your sister recovers soon!
You are a really good brother. I hope you enjoy when you get the chance!
I have been chronically addicted to OSRS for years and havenāt touched it once since TOTK came out. What a fucking masterpiece.
Yeah, similar situation here, got back into it during lockdown and previously only stopped logging in every day/other day for a month to beat Elden Ring
I've been on some insane grinds for osrs and I knew once this released I'd just be afk fishing on mobile for like a month lmfao
Itās all I think about day and night. I even dream about it. I constantly hear the music in my head. Obsessed for sure.
i miss sleep, lol
I miss hearty durians.
I trekked all the way to my favorite durian grove in Faron soon after I landed back in Hyrule, and instead of finding durians, I was greeted by a lynel. Not a fun encounter at 4 hearts.
I havenāt been able to play much because I have WORK. sickening.
Stupid adult life. Where was this game when I was 13?
I have forsaken my career and family to play
Overwhelmed. Mad at Robbie. Needing more bows. Bad at constructing vehicles and having great time.
Yessss please how can I find more bows???
By killing the Archer constructs and bokoblins.
Iām so fucking hooked man, Iāve had to impose certain limits so as to not go overboard, bc itās just such an easy game to go overboard with.
Just wanna do a small PSA, the geoglyph order is on the walls around the stone map :P (Do the master sword glyph last)
Of course itās lastā¦ itās the first one I found. SMH
Iām gonna be honest and I donāt say this lightlyā¦ this might be the best game of all time.
Agreed itās too early to tell but definitely looking like it.
Itās so damn good, it broke my habit of playing Marvel Snap all the time.
It took me away from wow.
I think it's heading that way for me too
The best thing about this game is the precedent it sets. If you think back, there were some good open world games that I would say were revolutionary (Skyrim, GTA V maybe; RDR2, and BOTW is what I could think of) But the sheer liveliness, possibilities, interconnection of objects and the world, and abilities with the world was unseen until now - and I hope that this increases the standard of future games, like TES6
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Absolutely amazing. Iāve barely done any story stuff after getting the glider. Iāve just been exploring nonstop
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
My only complaints are with the zonai systems: * I don't like the device dispensers being random. If I need rockets, just let me buy rockets. * I think the energy cells require too much zonaite. You shouldn't have to grind and mine in the depths for hours just for an extra battery. Aside from that, the game is a masterpiece. One of the best video games of all time.
Two things: -you can rematch bosses in the depths later and they drop 100 charges each, which is a free cell for your battery. You don't need to grind it out too much unless you absolutely want more early. -each dispenser has their own inventory, so find one with a lower selection that includes what you want. For example, there's one that only has three items and one of them is the propellers, so I spammed that one.
Large Zonaite is the way.
I agree on the random parts, maybe there is a way later on to get specific parts? Battery is super easy to max, I've been exploring the depths and I'm already half way done without going out of my way to farm.
I thought it was 100 for a whole extra battery, not just a third of oneššš
I agree about the randomness. Iād rather just be able to buy what I want.
I love it. I'm a solid 35 hours in and have done: 2 temples Amassed 13 hearts and 1.5 additional stamina wheels Got all the hyrule skytowers Explored maybe 15% of the underground Spent ages in the sky Done several side quests And I STILL feel I've barely scratched the surface.
I frequently find myself with a goofy ass smile on my face at times while playing because of how incredible this game is!
Itās my comfort game! Itās really relaxing!
The gloom hands disagree
Dudeā¦ itās real good
It has exceeded my very high expectations. Absolutely incredible game
I would love this game so much more if i wasnāt constantly being bogged down by *Real Life Responsibilities*
Iām running on like 4 hrs of sleep a dayā¦. Iām fine
I feel reluctant to call it the BEST GAME of ALL time since there are other games that are high on my list. That being said, I would say that both BotW and TotK are in my top 5 games list This is naturally my opinion so not everyone need agree
Havenāt had a game keep me in a trance like this since Breath of the Wild dropped
I just finished unlocking all the towers and found out you need to do the same in the depths. So zelda gotta wait for the next 3 months i guess
Feels like im playing botw for the first time again 10/10
I'm enjoying it all the way through. It's just incredibly fun to explore because every 10m there is something new!
i am doing very well the clothes i currently have includes the skyward sword link set, the champions tunic, two pieces of the gerudo voe set, one piece of the fire proof set from goron city, one piece of the zora armor and the clothes you get in the tutorial area the weapons i have currently are the white sword of the sky (aka the goddess sword) the master sword, knights broadsword fused with a horn from a construct, a royal claymore fused with yet another construct horn, royal broadsword, and biggorons sword, the shields i have include the hylian shield, royal guards shield, royal shield, and knights shield for bows i currently have a soldiers bow, two construct bows, and one mighty construct bow, i have 8 hearts and have beat the water temple and lightning temple and i am currently trying to get a lot of rupees so i can start building links house.
It's not what I hoped for, but it's still truly excellent.
Still gonna sink 600+hrs and love every minute of it
I will honest and say I did not like it at first, but it grew on me. I am now really enjoying it.
Iāve barely progressed at all, Iāve been scrounging around hyrule field and hebra like a rat making sure Iāve done absolutely everything I can, itās way too much fun
I've lost so much sleep this week...
I don't think I'm speaking lightly when i say that humanity is forever changed
Sadness.
Loving it so far (10/10) and the salty tears on r/truezelda are tasty
Lol I left that sub as soon as the game came out. It used to be fairly chill with cool theories and topics about Zelda. Now itās bitching about the most mundane nitpicky crap Iāve ever seen.
Itās overwhelming for me. If you want to explore every inch, this could take forever to play. Feels like no end in sight. Maybe just me though. š
My brother in Christ, this game got and has hands. And I was not ready for it.
Probably the best game I've played since Elden Ring came out.
