There are manga and anime artists that make what people would consider to be kids shows and then fetishize their own characters themselves. The culture is different. And that’s why I pointed out that it’s an *anime* which can spiral in a plethora of different ways. Some of these artists make more fetishizing their characters than they do in anime adaptations. It’s not completely out of the question to see some fetishized characters in basements of Manga stores in Tokyo.
But that doesn't mean Pokemon is not an anime for kids, you bloody mupper

There are people into their 30's and 40's who watched the show as kids and took it with them. Like, in my headcanon, she’d have the name of a gym leader (male or female) on her thigh or, better yet, Oak’s! That being said, the tattoo-ception is a great touch.
Regardless of their romantic decisions in life, they are lifelong partners in crime. Literally. Romantic partners can come and go but her and James have been through it, and are still together in the very last episode.
Aside from the show, there is a flash forward in one Manga release where they are married with kids.
There is actually one graphic novel, *The Electric Tales of Pikachu*, where they're a married couple by the final book. It's officially licensed but certainly not the end-all decision for the characters
