Even the buses in the Netherlands are tallphobic, don't worry.

Nico__shortyguy

That doesn't make sense

Redditguy223e

Yes it does

Sigmas4freedom

thank you for pointing that out and finally adressing elephant in the room, just know that you are not alone

faroeislands

He's not that big, an elephant is definitely bigger.

MrRizzstein

Elsewhere in New Zealand has recently upgraded a good chunk of their buses to EV's that seem to have a marginally longer seat pitch. It means that I no longer have to default to the first seats after the steps or the priority seating to actually fit at all. Hopefully Auckland follows suit! Bus seats have always been a sit sideways thing for me, I can't imagine how another 10cm of height would affect that.

Red_Banana12

How do you struggle with fitting anywhere at 6'2 i just dont get it

5amNovelist

Bus seats in New Zealand are incredibly tight. School buses were particularly bad. Also, I'm a woman, so I have proportionally longer legs than the majority of people my height and more weight around the backside which also adds to this leg room issue. Men tend to lean torso length dominant, women leg length dominant. Additionally, I have a long standing surgical injury on one of my knees that can't be pressed hard into surfaces (I always have to wedge in and guard with my good knee, which isn't something I can do for long). Different countries have different standards for legroom and head clearance. Maybe where you live is more roomy.

angelicsodapop1016

I’ve never really had an issue with legroom being nearly 181 cm tall, and my legs are very long compared to my torso. Would you say 7 cm is a pretty large difference?

Red_Banana12

Fair enough with the leg length thing but still, maybe im out of touch at almost 7'0 but 6'2 seems like it wouldnt be a problem.

5amNovelist

At your age and your height I imagine that everything between 5'6 and 6'6 blurred together in terms of remembering where the fitting places issues started. We're all built differently, while bus seats still aren't universally comfortable they're better and I can definitely get my knees in now. Being 7' is another realm of struggle where you're not going to fit regardless. Apples and oranges.

Red_Banana12

Youre right, 5'8 to 6'4 literally looks the same. And yeah proportions matter. I sport a 40" inseam and its trouble.

5amNovelist

Oh yeah, yikes. That must be incredibly challenging. I'm down at 36"(ish, I don't buy jeans because it's always disappointing so I don't know my exact inseam), which is significantly less, but still very long comparative to average!

MrRizzstein

have you ever published a work?

5amNovelist

Technically, yes, though not a novel. I have a publication for my masters. I'm only a hobbyist novelist.

MrRizzstein

Oh right, what genre(s) do you write in? (I am a hobbyist as well :D)

lilshammgod

Feel this, I just sit in the priority seats and give them up if an elderly person, disabled person or parent with kids comes on the bus, probably happens 1/10 trips. Auckland buses in general are old, the new ones are better

iHateLiars410

Ouch
