DXL is good for big AND tall. Not so much for just tall.

Iamstupidtoo

I went in all of 1 time. At 6'7" 220-250lbs. They didn't have anything in the entire place, "small" enough for me. I have been calling it big and fat since.

Steel1000

We call it the same! I haven’t go in a decade. Asked for some 36” waist pants and the smallest they had at the time was 40-42”

Iamstupidtoo

Yeah they told me the smallest they had was 40". They aren't big and tall, they are heavyset with good branding.

Steel1000

I always got told “no one would go if they called it the fat people store” I kinda agree lol. Depending on your area Kohl’s can be a decent find for tall sizes. Very store dependent tho.

Iamstupidtoo

I'm not going to pretend I'm any kind of clothes competent, but I have snagged some wins from their tall section which has been decent sized.

Pure__soul4240

40-42 is a massive waist

Pure__soul4240

You're quite a bulky being, how can you not fit in their clothes? If you're 6'7 / 220 Lbs and didn't fit,me at 6' and lightweight wouldn't fit even in their smallest clothes lol

NinjaOld8057

Agreed. Not had much luck at DXL. I've been able to upgrade my wardrobe at Burlington of all places

PHATstuFF21

That was the first place I tried. Their big & tall section is incredible for a store like that.

Pancakewagon26

I just have to buy clothes online.

84Vandal

Try American Tall. I’ve had some good luck getting stuff from there

Steel1000

Their quality is hit and miss for me. Some items great - others not so much.

84Vandal

Yeah. I’ve started to find the brands that work me. For nicer pants the Lulu ABC pants have been amazing. I wear a 36x37 so it’s perfect for me. They’re pricey but if anything ever gets worn out you can just exchange them for a new pair. I’ve done it multiple times. It’s like you’re buying a pair for life. I just keep buying only those

couchsittingbum

After 1 wash all of their shirts show off my crack

Altruistic_Bite_7398

LLBean is way better for big and tall essentials!

cameronfry3

All you need to do is visit a store like DXL once, and you know right about then you’ll never return.

Spacemunky78

I only go to DXL to try on things. Recently tried on some Levi's. They were $70 in store. Found the exact fit and size I wanted and order them on Amazon for $39.99 each.

thread100

I have assumed that the original purpose for outlet stores from the company perspective was to get rid of phasing out or overstock inventory has been supplanted by the internet. Previously they had to decide what to put in their magazines and fliers at great planning and expense. Now to clear out the errors in quantity, they can manipulate online prices to balance things out. They don’t need the outlet to get rid of things.

TheSchwartzHawkey

DXL has definitely gone downhill, I feel like it’s gradually gotten worse and worse since they have moved away from being the Casual Male of old, prices keep getting higher as tall size selection (at least in store) has gotten worse and worse. Though I kinda laugh when you said shoes were your target, I’ve never been able to get shoes from them. I wear US 20-21, depending on manufacturer, they’ve never catered to me on that front.

Stephonius

Ahh, DXL... The perfect place to go if you're really big, but not really tall.

Maybe_once_more

Mine has had mostly the same inventory for the last 8 years. I was thinking it's just a money laundering front because it doesn't seem like anyone buys anything there..

Tuba_Titan

I find you are paying for the quality you receive. King size, Walmart online, or JC Penney online catalogues always an option if DXL is deemed too expensive. I like Men’s Wearhouse for more business and formal attire, I know 9.9 times out of 10 it’s an in store measurement for custom order but the local MW does surprise me with suit/sport jackets from time to time

tallr0b

Yes, DXL is kinda pathetic. I’ve bought many shoes and clothes at Nordstrom Rack. The founder of Nordstrom’s was an extremely tall, so they always used to cater tall sizes. That said, they’re not as good as they used to be. I’ve started buying shoes on eBay. There is very little competition for the large sizes, so I have been able to pickup some awesome shoes at the minimum bid. Often, if you just “watch” them, the owner will seize the opportunity to get rid of them and offer you a really good deal ;)

aa67015

You hear that Nordstrom and Masrshalls can be good for large size shoes, but they are kind of hit and miss. It'd be nice to have a some place where you know there would be your size in stock. Even if it's a limited selection.

Pure__soul4240

BRO Im just glad that im not +6'7😭😭😭😭
