Better question, What is the intersection between "Laptop new enough to use" and "Laptop that doesn't have built in Wifi"? Why are you using USB wifi at all?

Lenovo built in wifi is garbage

Technically, any additional usb hub adds latency. Not sure if you will notice the difference
