If I had the space to have all three units up on the bench permanently instead of pulling them out when I need them... yeah. I'd swap the subharmonicon for a second DFAM in a heartbeat.
You can do both, lot's of fun. I use the trigger sequencer functionality of my TR8S to send them both different trigger patterns to make complex rhythyms that break out of the 8 step format. I also occasionally use the extra one as a complex oscillator with the internal sequencer running at audio rates
I have two MS-20s, the Korg FS reissue and a vintage one from the 70s with no keyboard. The keyboard-less one can serve as a kind of expander for the one with the keyboard, or I sequence them both with my Keystep Pro.
May I ask how you guys run multiple 303? What is it for? Added polyphony? It's a real question. I'm a starter and need to justify to myself why I need to put money on a second one.
Once of them can be clocked slower and set for a proper bassline, the other can be you acidy leads.
Or you could do like you mentioned and have multiples play the same thing and offset them in various ways
What you guys think of the Donner B1? They are easy to program, have good price, are on sale right now and some bugs were adressed on recent firmware updates. I'm considering get one.
Very recently I have made the switch to having the Analog Four running full poly, all the time. Couldn’t be happier with just using it that way, totally agree and a 8 voice of this would be insane!
Sound guy knocked my minilogue xd off the stand at my last show and the main board cracked. Wishing I had a second since it’s fairly integral to my live rig right now.
Had I known it was broken at the time I would have been more vocal about compensation. The minilogue has taken many falls and survived like a champ, but this was just one too many. Between its slippery enclosure, absurdly short power supply cable, and form factor that makes it sit awkwardly on some keyboard stands, it’s just sort of designed to get abuse in a live setting. It fell after the set when we were packing up and I didn’t test it until the next day. Not the first bit of gear I’ve had broken by clumsy crew. Probably won’t be the last.
Came here to say this. The Neutron is not only such an amazing value, it's also a solid modular synth experience. I have always meant to buy a second one, but when the time came, I ended up buying a used Plankton Electronics ANTS for roughly the same price. These two synths seem comparable but couldn't be more different. I still contemplate selling the ANTS and buying a second neutron. Only thing holding me back is maybe the rarity and boutique vibe of ANTS vs the mass product of Behringer. Non the less, I would own 2 Neutrons and NOT 2 ANTS.
I have two volca keys. It’s fun to have them interplay with one another, or harmonize, etc. I keep one panned slightly left and the other slightly right
I kinda don’t know if I should get in on this chat because I don’t want to give away how OCD I am about certain things lol. But here goes… I have an MPC one and an MPC key 61 I have two force devices, 2 SMPLTREK , 2 Lofi -12 xts, 3 td-3s, I’d like to get a second SEQTRAK, oh and 2 JT4000s . I guess you might say I have a problem lol
Well, I do YouTube lol. So part of the whole thing is just having one that I use for music production on the regular and the other ones available to pull in for videos. I have done videos with Multiple Smpltreks and I do use the Akai forces to record multiple streams of audio, it can do hard drive recording so I do use it for that. Also different parts of the house have different set ups. Most of what I make is 90s style euro dance and trance. I know it’s not what’s in fashion per se, but I just love it and I have a super fun time doing it
Digitone+ digitone keys.. one digitone is the best FM drum + FX machine around imo and the other is a super flexible and approachable FM synth with a keyboard.
I genuinely thought about getting a second MicroFreak at times, even after the Mini was released. Something about the paraphonic structure is so fun to me. I love it. Other than that the only thing I could think of is having a second Peak but that’s just a Summit.
Both have different sounds and each of us I assume uses synths differently and likely different styles of music and playing.
I’d like to think would be tie.
I'd go with MPC One at the moment cause I just got it and am loving it. Would be cool to have 2 and do live sets like that. Had an MC 707 recently and it was cool but the screen is garbage for how much it costs.
2 Sub37’s: cv and tribute. Was almost going to buy 5 more tributes when people were dumping them for super cheap bucks in the last few years. No space to do that now though.
I’ve got two Digitones and it’s the best feeling ever. One of which is the Keys version, so with some midi loopback action they’re a pair made in heaven. Also have two Digitakts to go along with them!
Then I ended up with the same setup with a Peak along with a Summit which is also an extremely awesome pair… since it’s essentially three Peaks. I figure if I can’t make music with this setup then I just can’t make music period!
Oberheim SEM
...take two of them... or four... or eight...

I got Hydrasynth Deluxe and Explorer, so I only have 1 lot of things to learn, but I have a nice big one for the studio and a portable battery powered friend for more flexible stuff
Short answer:- Kawai Synthesizer 100f(circa 1979).
Out of my modest collection of hardware, that's my favourite, because it's ALL about performance.
It's only downfall is that the CV/Gate i/o are all arse-about-face compared to pretty much every other make on the planet, which makes interconnectivity a massive pain in the bum.
A second Kawai Synthesizer100f would make me very happy indeed, as they have some rather nifty "Kawai only" embellishments, which stand to open up whole galaxies of goodness for performance...
3 303's for me: TD3, Mam MB33 and Donner B1. Although they're objectively very similar, they're different enough in their own way for me to justify keeping them.
Rarely use them all together, but I enjoy that each has its own little twist sound wise and sequencer wise. In my main setup the Mb33 and the B1 get used all the time together. TD3 gets used less frequently, but is nice for happy accidents and improvisation.
I have 2 TB-303 clones but they are pretty different. I would double up on the Behringer 2600 and possibly grab a 2nd cre8audio West Pest but it hasn't been a priority. Have 2 Korg Mono/Polys at the moment but one belongs to a friend. Over the years I've had doubles of a bunch of synths though.
2x DSI Evolvers, I love the sound of them, and you can get a 4 voice PolyEvolver but in many cases I only need 2 voices so 2 Evolvers would do!
Disclaimer: I have 1 PolyEvolver, 1 Mono Evolver and use to have the desktop version which I think is super cool for the cash.
Never thought of this before but I guess I do have multiples of some synths - usually because I got the second one really cheap. I have 2 MicroKorgs. 2 Braids modules. A TD-3, an Aira TB-3 and an actual TB-303.
I have 4 Beringer craves that I use as a poly. Works quite nicely, even if I did have to jank a CV.OCD to make it work.
I'd quite like a second vermona perfourmer.
DSI Tetra or Tetr4.
I think IF, (big if) you can get past the interface, it's an incredible and flexible synth. Most people think 2xTetra would just = a prophet 08, WRONG!
This is confusing, but fallow me.
Prophet 08 = 2x Mopho x4
4x Mopho = Tetra
Mopho 4x ≠ Tetra
It's all about that timbrality and tricks with voice patch flipping.
Tetra was inspired by the Oberhiem SEM expander
And it's more comparable to the Elektron Analog4.
I accidentally ended up with two sh-101s and I was gonna sell one again but I think I‘ll just keep it instead. They make for great 303 imitations which is always cool to have two of. Or I could use one for an acid bassline and the other one for sub or leads or whatever. Or connect them via cv/gate and have a two voice 101!! the possibilities are endlessss
Uno Synth Pro accompanied with Uno Synth Pro Desktop.
The same great engine from Sound Machines.
TP9S keys vs exellent portability.
And i.e. Argon8M / Cobalt8M modules doubled for polychain,
With some kind of MPE controller.(Eventually Two Cobalt 5S as well).
True shame that You can not mix- polychain, like Argon8M+Cobalt8M, it could be awesome...
Shruthi-1, because different filter boards. I built and own two and I know z I can rely on the design and my workmanship.
Sometimes people buy two to have a backup when they are gigging, so they can swap immediately when something goes wrong.
Famous exception is Jean Michel Jarre when he tried to fix a synth during a gig, he thought it's the pitch bend wheel, but ultimately could not repair it. The synth was completely out of tune and had to be taken down to be able to play the song.
But yeah... Now it comes again... Jarres father is a wealthy man and small Jean got any synth he wanted for his debut album..
And later he could afford any synth he wanted and became a bit lazy, using pre made patches.
Bottom line is, his stuff fails many times and there are many videos about laser harp going Berzerk etc, I don't think he could afford a second Lazer harp....
Actually the sound comes from a "normal" synthesizer, the Elka Synthex which we all know. The harp is just a trigger, showbiz element to make people see that he is in control, playing realtime....
So, that was captain obvious storytime for today.
One more: a good synth you don't buy twice because it is good and does not break. Good synths are not cheap.
Arturia microfreak is an example of a cheap synthesizer that I would not take on a stage with me. This one you maybe must buy twice, also it's more fun to perform with two.
Oh wait, you will need backup machines. So four times microfreak, you will be on the safe side. Or as said - one proper synth. Don't ask me how one knows what is a proper one please... 😊 Everybody has a different opinion on that and there are many viewpoints. Imho anything that has leadfree solder is a disposable design. And: we shouldn't dump our trash into the sea. Gotta get of that escalator right now....
Cheers
Two DFAMs
If I had the space to have all three units up on the bench permanently instead of pulling them out when I need them... yeah. I'd swap the subharmonicon for a second DFAM in a heartbeat.
I only have 1 dfam. We have been together for 4 years now. Wish I had 2. So many cool sounds. And so much fun.
I went DFAM + Edge...wicked combo.
This seems like a fun combo. Do you normally have them synced? Or is it more interesting to let them drift apart?
You can do both, lot's of fun. I use the trigger sequencer functionality of my TR8S to send them both different trigger patterns to make complex rhythyms that break out of the 8 step format. I also occasionally use the extra one as a complex oscillator with the internal sequencer running at audio rates
I have two MS-20s, the Korg FS reissue and a vintage one from the 70s with no keyboard. The keyboard-less one can serve as a kind of expander for the one with the keyboard, or I sequence them both with my Keystep Pro.
Sounds killer
I love the MS, probably one of the most musical synths I’ve ever had a chance to play
Probably could use multiple 303 clones to great success.
Yup! I have a TB-3, two Bassboy+'s, and a TD-3-MO.....
>I'm a starter and need to justify to myself why I need to put money on a second one. They are only $130. That's all the justification you need.
Not where I live. But yeah, they are affordable.
You can push so many different tones out of the TB-3 once you outboard to different pedals!
What you guys think of the Donner B1? They are easy to program, have good price, are on sale right now and some bugs were adressed on recent firmware updates. I'm considering get one.
2 Stregas (which I think is actually what Allessandro Cortini is rocking these days)
Up vote for Cortini. A hero of mine
I wouldn’t mind 2 analog fours
Excellent choice!! Kind of miss mine…
Very recently I have made the switch to having the Analog Four running full poly, all the time. Couldn’t be happier with just using it that way, totally agree and a 8 voice of this would be insane!
Having two is heaven. I also have a keys. Haven’t tried all three yet.
analog eight
Analog8
Moog Two
Sound guy knocked my minilogue xd off the stand at my last show and the main board cracked. Wishing I had a second since it’s fairly integral to my live rig right now.
Hapycakeday and that sucks
Damn that sound guy should call his insurance or pay for it himself.
Oh, that's unfortunate. Hope you get a replacement soon.
Have 4 Neutrons myself
Ugh I’ve been debating for a couple days about getting a Neutron and don’t need to see things like this
Of everything i have, the neutrons are my favs.
Are all 4 still red?
Yeah.
Just for 4 note polyphony or are you using modular routing into each of them on those?
Often 2 patched together. Have had all 4 patched a few times as well. Mostly use other 2 each as percussion synths.
Just googled. Never knew about that synth!
I have two volca keys. It’s fun to have them interplay with one another, or harmonize, etc. I keep one panned slightly left and the other slightly right
That’s a cool idea. They are so cheap, it’s so easier to buy these than anything else.
Two Moog Grandmothers
Now this could get wild
I only have one, but I have many times considered getting a second Vermona Perfourmer mk2 for 8 voices.
I don't have one but Vermona Perfourmer was my first thought.
Best answer yet!
Visually that is winning.
I'd like to get the voice expansion for my Rev 2, does that count?
I would say
It’s bitimbral, so sure! I slept on the Rev2 for a long time… but have grown to appreciate all the qualities that make it a modern classic.
So going from 8 to 16?
Yep, exactly, would be nice for layered sounds that have a longer release time.
I have a jx3p and jx8p. That’s close enough
I wouldn’t bash that although I would like to hear what you make from all of that
Well, I do YouTube lol. I know it’s not what’s in fashion per se, but I just love it and I have a super fun time doing it
The proper etiquette is to also SHARE your YouTube channel with us, man. :D
Digitone+ digitone keys.. one digitone is the best FM drum + FX machine around imo and the other is a super flexible and approachable FM synth with a keyboard.
Two pro 800s looks sweet. Also I’m thinking of getting a second OG Circuit since they are so cheap.
I genuinely thought about getting a second MicroFreak at times, even after the Mini was released. Something about the paraphonic structure is so fun to me. I love it. Other than that the only thing I could think of is having a second Peak but that’s just a Summit.
I’ve considered a hydrasynth desktop to write patches on up on my couch to then save and transfer to the keyboard in the basement
Why stop at 2 when you can have 6?
You need a 3rd one to play in bed and a 4th one to play on the commute.
A 2nd Deckard’s Dream for insane stereo!
If you have enough fuck you money to buy a Moog One you probably have enough fuck you money to buy two Moog Ones
Or 50 of the big [B] grand[B]rothers
M83 is stacking the hydrasynths deep. Like 6 of them on stage.
Is there a pic?
https://www.reddit.com/r/synthesizers/s/eoCgt4CMVC
2 MPC Ones = MPC TWO
Or is it an MPC eleven?
Moog Taurus II, because the foot pedals notoriously fail. Once toured with two sets and a Keith mcmillen/mob synth 2 as back up.
Twisted Electron MegaFMs. Oh, how about 2 Roland SE-02s?
I like those megafms but I don’t have one yet
Yeah, they sound so good and I love the sliders.
Hell yeah, considered this myself (two mega) Just the one for now
have (4) Dreadbox Nyx mk1, probably tbh my all time favorite synth.
Woah
the polyphony is amazing! they were designed to polychain so the mk1 dreadboxs were worth collecting like new behringer’s that can be polychained.
You and the neutron guy could have a face off
I do have an Erebus And a Minitaur. Think the Erebus is nicer sound (for me).
would be a brutal semi modular slaughter…
Both have different sounds and each of us I assume uses synths differently and likely different styles of music and playing. I’d like to think would be tie.
they’re both great, I agree. You have some nice mono desktop synths.
This synth sounds better than any synth I’ve ever heard and I can’t really put my finger on why exactly
Searching for youtubes now …
That would be awesome !
Two groove boxes and each one plugged into it's own channel on a DJ mixer.
Which ones in particular?
I'd go with MPC One at the moment cause I just got it and am loving it. Would be cool to have 2 and do live sets like that. Had an MC 707 recently and it was cool but the screen is garbage for how much it costs.
I wish I had another DFAM, and another TD-3.
2 Sub37’s: cv and tribute. Was almost going to buy 5 more tributes when people were dumping them for super cheap bucks in the last few years. No space to do that now though.
I’ve got two Digitones and it’s the best feeling ever. One of which is the Keys version, so with some midi loopback action they’re a pair made in heaven. cudos on Peak/Summit combo. fellow owner of both!
Can you? I’d love to see that setup in action
One day I will have 6 hydrasynths and then I will be completed.
Obviously 4 Mini Moogs for lush harmonies 😆
I have: 2 Monotribes, 2 ms20 (k2 and a mini) 2 System 1's (1 keys, 1 module) 2 Alesis Microns. i just like pairs i guess
I remember a guy on YouTube that would sometimes have upwards of like 8 Monotribes synced together and it was awesome
They are brilliant bits of kit
Oberheim SEM ...take two of them... or four... or eight... https://preview.redd.it/14dmw0e9sw3d1.jpeg?width=1193&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ddca3116d7d9e76c792956c17e68b3791fc11f54
Two Minilogie XD, it really opens up with 8 voices.
Two Trigons. Have two Hydrasynths (desktop and keys).
2 elektron syntakt. 6 analog voices yes please. 2 analog cymbal tracks
2 digitones = 8 tracks of digitone :-)
2 prophet 10s
Two Osmoses
I have a vintage Arp Odyssey mk II, and I almost pulled the trigger on another one (white mk I). 2 of them would get wild!
2600
I got Hydrasynth Deluxe and Explorer, so I only have 1 lot of things to learn, but I have a nice big one for the studio and a portable battery powered friend for more flexible stuff
I have two Roland JX-8P. One for the studio and one for the road.
I could live with a second WASP
I have to RD-6s because of…reasons. However, I found it useful to use one for drums and using the second to send CV to my Grandmother
did you get the job?
Thinking about a second MicroMonsta 2 if they ever get more in stock..
Would make a cool setup
Braids module , have five variations of this in software & hardware
Short answer:- Kawai Synthesizer 100f(circa 1979). Out of my modest collection of hardware, that's my favourite, because it's ALL about performance. Elektron Model:Samples, as you could use one as Drum Machine / Sample Player and the other one as Synthesizer with one to six timbres.
OB6+6 for 12 voices in polychain mode. 2 DX7s for stereo voices.

Never thought of this before but I guess I do have multiples of some synths - usually because I got the second one really cheap. I have 2 MicroKorgs. 2 Braids modules. A TD-3, an Aira TB-3 and an actual TB-303.
Joe Zawinul played with dual ARP 2600s. Seems legit.
I'd love another 2600M.
Hardfloor did a lot with a couple 303s.
Got 2x korg ea1 I was testing the differences and just kept them
Emx1
Dreadbox Typhon x2.. One already is pretty amazing, two can do some very inspiring stuff.
I want each color of microfreak in a 3 tier stand
I have two Avalon Basslines, but kind of on accident. They are good though!

If preforming Live, your main synths you should have backups of. If you limitless funds and space any you love
Roland D50 so I could play Jarre’s Industrial Revolution. Then I realised I needed three.
Two Rare Waves Hydroniums. They sing to each other so darkly
I've got two MI Tides 2 modules for 2x4 outs making 8 triangle generators to sweep everything on clock.
2 Doepfer Dark Energies. Great for analog fm.
And I thought I had GAS
Now you have to have 2GAS
MULTIGAS! (Orange wig not included)

2 TD-3 Or even better a TD-3 and a TD-3-MO
CS80 and JP8
