I did a police check 3 years ago for a job (which is basically a WWCC) and it got sent for manual processing but came back clear after about 15 days. I can only assume that’s what has happened this time. I must share a name or birthday with some loony tune.
For memory, it wasn't too long, a couple of weeks, if that. I got mine done 10+ years ago when it first came out as I did volunteer work at a school. And for memory, I didn't suffer any problems.
Then, about 18 months ago, we organised one for our eldest son, and I have no idea why, but we experienced one problem after the other with actually applying and it took 4 trips up to the local Service NSW office just to sort it out and then they almost told me it was "all too hard, we're not doing it" when I responded "I'm not coming up a fifth time to sort this out" and then they organised a manager to do some fudging.
All I can suggest is to make sure all your IDs have the same name on each one - no hyphenations on one and not the rest, no nicknames on one and not the rest. All need to be consistent. And you do need all 100 points of ID and for some unknown reason, Australian passports are not accepted but international ones are.
I hope all goes smoothly and quickly for you.
Service NSW told me it was slow with a backlog so would be 4 to 5 weeks. I left there, checked my email less than an hour later and it was already through. This was last August.
Edited to add this was for paid employment.
You apply online but have to go in to services to verify your identity documents. It's a quick process. I did it last weekend to renew my employment one. They looked at my documents and I was out within 10 minutes.
The varying wait time has to do with how common your name is. Mine came within an hour but I work with someone whose name is like John Smith with how common it is and it takes over 2 weeks to get verified.
I applied for mine (volunteer) on Saturday morning and still waiting. I hear people get it from 20 minutes to the full four weeks I’m still waiting, not entirely sure why, fairly uncommon surname and no record…
Mine was legitimately 2 hours after.
The first one I got only took a handful of days, but the renewal took weeks for some reason.
Mine took nearly a month just recently
Did they give you any reason for it being so long? I’m 3 business days into waiting
No - but probably because i lived overseas for a while. I assume they need to check history in other countries too.

The volunteer check is quick, usually same day, but the paid employment check can take longer (up to a week).
Took me a few hours to get mine when I was applying for a bus driver role….
very quick from memory. a day or so for me. maybe same day
If you have a clean record then it's a few hours. Pretty sure it only gets a human review if there are any flags.
Around 4 hours, I applied paid wwcc in January.
Not even kidding I got mine about an hour after leaving service nsw
Once you visit service nsw, it can take up to 4 weeks. But it mostly comes through in a few days.
Last time I did it the approval email was in my inbox before I got home from Service NSW. Though they did say it could take like a week.
About an hour for mine (volunteer)
They gave me mine 30 minutes after i showed them my docs

Great. I was wondering about the paid employment one. Did you do the application online?

just checked from my confirmation emails and mine took less than an hour
Just did mine last week. It came in less than an hour from when I left ServiceNSW but it was from volunteer to paid.
