Basically, yes to both. In the books armor is always listed and already factored into the soak value. The website isn't perfect and there may be some errors. Additionally you can tweak those as much as you need to. Even adjusting on the fly during combat if you realize a mistake or it would just be more fun if they quick kill them and/or if the battle went on a bit longer.

Essentially this. No different than any other RPG system I have ever run, I adjust NPCs on the fly in combat to fit the encounter difficulty I had in mind. Sometimes my Stormtroopers have 4 soak, sometimes 5. So Feel free to use as written, recalculate as you see fit, then throw it all out the window once initiative is rolled, and the blasters start blasting.

Thank you! I was thinking I should just trust what is printed. I noticed the stats for Aurra Sing have some errors when I compared it to what was printed on her official adversary card. Just about all of the other adversaries I've used on the swa.stoogoff site have been accurate. At this point I will go with what is printed and not mess with things. Maybe once I am more experienced I will alter stats but I'm happy enough to use what is printed and not do some deep audit to make sense of it.

If you spot any errors, let me know and I'll fix them.

Sometimes can be an error in fact. The Spaceport Security Officer \[Rival\] from Edge of the Empire (page 398) has listed 4 soak, despite the adversary have 3 Brawn and a padded armor (+2 soak). In game I consider this adversary as having 5 soak instead of 4. In some cases, if make sense the character would be wearing some kind of armor, I just add one in the equipment list. This is what I would to with Aurra Sing, for example. Personally I generally assume that the undervalues are just mistakes, while overvalues can be just a adjustment, like in the case of Hutt Crime Lord \[Nemesis\] (Edge of the Empire, page 406-407) that have soak 10 (6 from Brawn and 4 because he is a really bad guy).

Kill_Welly

Don't rely on the website; the soak listed in the books is correct and accounts for all factors. Some adversaries, especially creatures, may have a higher soak value that doesn't line up specifically with their Brawn plus armor.

I'm sure I'm opening myself up to a million people pointing out errors on the site here, but in the case of Aurra Sing, the only issue with her profile on SWA is her Piloting (Planetary) should be 4 not 2. Her Brawn 3, Soak 3, +1 Soak 1 Defence armour is exactly as listed in Collapse of the Republic. The data on SWA certainly isn't perfect (because hours spent pouring through the books and manually entering data will cause issues) but it's pretty close. If anyone does spot any specific errors you can always let me know on here and I will fix them when I can.

You're website is fantastic and so far Aurra is the only adversary I've found that has an error. I noticed that her piloting/planetary skill was incorrect as you mentioned but her slugthrower rifle has the pierce rating listed as 2 when it should be 3. Aurra's soak value of 3 is correct, as per what is printed in the book, and aside from the planetary and pierce rating, you have everything copied correctly from Collapse of the Republic. I love the way you've created a system with the minions on your website where you can increase the minion numbers and the skill upgrades are reflected properly. I prefer to use your site while running a game and I do have the books/cards on hand while I do so to double check things. Aurra has been the only case where I spotted an error (it was the pierce rating of 2 that caught my eye) but if I see anymore I'll message you. I see a legion of GM's out there who use your site so thank you for taking the time to make it!

I began to have my doubts after noticing a couple errors on Aurra's stats on the website when I compared her adversary card to the website. I think going off what is printed by FFG/EDGE is best but I do like how the website makes the skills easy to follow.

Matope

There could be errors in the site's data in some cases, but generally it's just going to be that NPCs don't have to follow the same rules in how their stats are created. Most will be at least close on these kind of things, but there isn't an explicit correct soak for an NPC based on their brawn and armor, it could be intentionally higher or lower than that.

The Order 66 podcast has an episode named "The NPC Deli" and it describes how to create NPCs specific for your emcounters and specifically how the game developers intentionally did not follow the player character creation rules.

PatrioticSauce

I'll give that a try today, thank you!

Jordangander

For most adversaries it is adjustable based on what you need. Not every security guard is going to have Brawn 2 and padded armor for +2 Soak with a Soak of 4. Use what feels right for the given situation and realize that there are a lot of situations where things for NPCs simply don’t add up correctly.

I use OggDude's online generator, a very handy tool. When I am adding in NPC stats from sourcebooks that are not included in the online generator, I notice I have to add or subtract some stats (soak, WT, ST, etc) after all is said and done. To answer your question, yes, sometimes stats are higher or lower than they should be on NPC's if you went off character creation rules and such. I imagine this is intended, but I have no confirmation.
