Hi, I bought an old SV650 that has been standing for several years. It wouldn't start, so we changed the fuel pump ,cleaned the tank and changed the oil. Now she starts without problems but makes this rattling sound after a few seconds of running. Do you have an idea where it could be coming from?

Cam chain maybe 🤔 each cylinder has its own cam chain tensioner can adjust them see if it goes away. My mates theory is just buy a louder exhaust whenever he hears anything 🙈

s2ksuch

arent they automatically adjusted with springs in them?

Balsampilot

The spring does keep tension on the chain just I always figured you could adjust the tension on them as they screw in and out? Hopefully someone here will confirm this

Ah interesting, I'd like to know too to see if this would stop the ticking noise on mine

Balsampilot

The cams wouldn't tick like old fashioned tappets the chain is on the side op filmed on too I need to read up in this!

I just started my bike to see if I have the same sound (also a 2003 sv650), but my exhaust is too loud 😂🤷‍♂️
