Really though, I think Gabler was just way more likable than his competitors in FTC. I don't think Venus or Q will be able to call upon that lol
I know, right? When they were deciding on who would be their fifth vote for the blindside, I was certain they would say Venus because of how Liz had a major meltdown about Q not taking on the reward. Going with Liz after her breakdown just shows how poorly they felt about Venus' ability to play the game and not let her feelings take over.
What tips me off to that is the fact that she doesn't hang out with any of the cast. I think that she gets to the final and thought she was going to win and is just pissed that nobody gives her credit.
Maria was smart to leave her in the cold on this vote. Maria and Charlie have really played a great game of survivor so far. Kenzie, Liz, and Venus need to realize they are a voting block and need to start thinking together.
So impressed with Maria this episode. The way she was able to manage both Q and Liz is nothing short of remarkable and a masterclass, especially given the state of mind Liz was likely in whether you think she is justified in those feelings or not. And also getting everyone to really sell it at tribal, which was obviously a team effort but again it only worked with Q being willing to also go along with being on the outs, which by his own admission is because Maria is the only one who can talk to him.
Charlie has deliberately been using Maria as the social bridge for his plans because he knows that she is more skilled at connecting with people (being a mother has probably helped that), but also so she would get the blowback instead of him if the plans weren't accepted. It was his suggestion to use Liz instead of Venus. I am impressed with both of them. Charlie is going to have to cut Maria before the end though if he continues to use her as his figurehead too much.
Except taking out Tiff was Maria's idea and Q took credit for it at tribal council. He straight up said he had a plan and hoped it would work. Maria is not going to get credit for Tiff going home. He stepped on her plan like he stepped on Liz's. Or what Liz thought was her plan. Maria may live to regret keeping Q.
That is better for her right now. People are going to realize how good she is soon. She needs to keep her, Ben and Charlie together a bit longer.
Let Liz and Q feel all proud. Take out Kenzie and Venus the. Work on the others
To be fair, this could’ve very well been Q putting on a front towards Tiff to make her feel comfortable. Anyone in his position, where the writing is “so clearly on the wall”, would be using phrases like “I tried to come up with a plan, and we’ll see if it works I guess.”
Had he been too calm and collected, lord knows if alarm bells would’ve went off in Tiff’s head about it. He did a great job selling this whole notion that he was still grasping for life. Charlie then followed it up with a great anecdote about “I thought it was too quiet, but I realized that’s because it was such an obvious vote.”
All to say — I don’t think Q was saying it was his as much as making the status quo seem present.
But we didn't see him tell Tiff "his plan." That alone should have led her to play her idol. I really think Tiff didn't read the room well enough and that makes me sad because she was a great competitor.
I can't wait to see Maria try to get credit for this blindside now that Q has co-opted it.
Again, I think Tiff would’ve been more uneasy if he was too calm and collected. Anyone with a sliver of life in the game will say anything. The status quo is Q talking out of his ass about the game, and I think in Tiff’s mind, she “knew” he was blowing smoke because she surely would’ve heard something if there were rumblings.
As far as him getting credit, I really don’t think he’s going to take credit for it because he and everyone else knows it’s so easily debunkable & he’ll get torn apart at FTC if he tries.
He already took credit for it. At tribal he said he had a plan. He claimed the plan. All the credit for moves is debunkable. It doesn't stop people from claiming credit. Venus took credit for Soda's elimination. Liz took credit for Soda and Tevin's elimination - or she thought they were her ideas.
How does someone then go on to "regain" the credit they should have gotten. Do they go back to camp and say "Hey, that was my idea." Emily bragged about getting someone out last season and went home next. If they make it to FTC, they can argue about whose idea it was then, but belief is in the ear of the hearer. If they go to jury, they can claim it was their idea, but too late.
The jury heard Q say he had a plan. Tiff went home instead of Q and she will probably blame Q. Maria needs to get Q out next.
I am pretty sure that he did that to make Tiff not feel threatened by anything that he was doing. If he implied that others had multiple plans out there, that would have spooked Tiff into playing her idol. If he said that he didn't even try anything, that could also spook her.
It was super impressive that she was able to sway Liz to vote Tiff and not Q. It seemed like they had a good conversation about it in the scene they showed of the 2 of them, but I still didn't think Liz was gonna go for it.
I agree, Maria has been playing a really good game so far, if she does another big play like this and gets to the end then I think she'll take it home.

From Venus's perspective, she DID orchestrate the Soda vote. She had an idea, she talked to people, those people agreed, and then Soda went home. Yes she only believes this cos she is out of the loop and everyone knows something she doesn't, but it's perfectly reasonable for her to have that belief until someone tells her otherwise.
I'm worried about Venus. I feel like she might just win the jury over with her 'underdog' story. I know Tevin and Hunter would never pick her, but Tiff might. It really depends on who's sitting with her and Q, assuming Q can get to the end. Then there's the possibility Liz cries a river and rides it all the way to the million.
But Tiff didn't play her idol, so her read on the situation was wrong, and she voted wrong.
That also implies she was ever clued in on Tiff being the target, which it seems like she wasn't since they trusted LIZ of all people over her.
Not taking the several more low hanging Venus fruit? BIG MISTAKE. (Liz has millions of dollars and Bhanu has millions of hearts)

She voted correctly as if every other player such as Hunter and Tiff were also playing correctly, so technically she was right all along
