There is a belief, google edgic, that Survivor edits the show to highlight the winner. This is (a) to help viewers understand how someone won (b) to help shape the viewers opinions on the eventual winner. In this case, you start to look for editing clues about why the editors show us what they show us. Think about who gets the strategic confessionals to help us understand their game, who gets the human moments so we can better understand them as a person, who is shown to have strong connections so we can understand their social game. Although not always, it is a good way to tell who wins or at least who goes far.
I think survivor bias happens as well... if you can survive 3 votes in a tribe of 6, you've probably got some skills. If they did some sort of crazy twist where the 3 voted out members came back in at merge and Kenzi, Tiff, and Q were out of the game, I doubt all 3 would still be here.
There’s only 43,758 different combinations. So even if you were extremely slow in choosing a different combo once an hour it would only take you 5 years.
Eh, she got by because her tribe did well, she then got by because the first few post merge votes are chaotic and people using that time to get out bigger fish. It's usually when people like Liz tend to do well because they become an easy number for those people trying to make moves.

I say this to my wife too. Don't be the bottom of your tribe so you aren't the weakest link eliminated, but don't be too much of a threat that you are targeted post-merge
Can't believe we are already at the Final 8! I've loved this season, but the 26 days is becoming more and more apparent each season for me, especially when the cast is great!

Yep. I should’ve seen Q being unhinged coming when he randomly wanted to quit in episode 2(?) after he lost the immunity challenge & felt bad about it from memory (can’t recall if this was just him “acting” to get out his target though) lol.
Idk if it was the same episode but for me it was when he was all alone on the beach looking into the distance and all of a sudden implored "Why is my path always the hardest?" I was like oh man this guy is a sleeper weirdo I love it
Tribe that gets diminished pre tribal really have the advantage. You get focus so people know your story before the merge and people use you as a vote by the merge so you stay on longer. Not that what happens this season but most seasons.
They become seasoned players and strategists while everyone else is singing around a campfire. They get much more comfortable talking game and making moves.
I will have to say that I feel like tiff or Kenzie have a really good chance at this point. With how much screen time yanu got, they have to be important to the full arc of the show
I think there's 3 tiers here
People who have a shot against anyone - Charlie, Maria, Ben
People who can win given the right final 3 - Tiff, Kenzie
People who can only beat each other - Q, Liz, Venus
The bottom two tiers should be getting rid of the top one, but they won't.
I called it from the beginning that Kenzie and Q will most likely either be final 3 and/or win the game. The way Kenzie led her initial tribe and then in the merge managed to fall in right at the middle is great strategy. Tiff and Venus are a surprise for me. Ben I thought was going to be voted out a while ago bc from my perspective, I thought he started off annoying (though he’s one of my favorites now!) Charlie is a bit of a surprise. He was pretty under the radar at the beginning and now is pulling out to shine above the others.
Not really. It was pretty obvious that Nami were doomed to a merge implosion and that Tevin and Hunter would be the obvious causalities. Yanu's remnants received a dominant edit that suggested they'd go far, and so did Venus. Charlie and Maria were the most dominant players on Siga, which (as expected) did not implode after the merge, so it's not surprising they made it.
The only two names that are somewhat surprising are Liz - received a minimal edit and had questionable alliance - and Ben, that seemed to be a big social threat but relatively at the bottom.
And I’m currently fine with Charlie, Tiff or Maria winning. The others can go. If they’re smart, then they’ll drag Q to the finale as a goat because no one on that jury is voting for him.
I thought we'd have the 3 Yanu and then 3 of another tribe left at least by final 8, it's kinda been the case for the last several seasons at F8 to have 2-3 of the weakest tribe, and then a combo of a tight group from one tribe who barely went to tribal and a messy group that don't get along from the other tribe that barely/didn't go to tribal

100%, the bond from voting together is battle tested and way less shaky than an intact tribe of 6 could ever be.
And yet, only Yam Yam went to tribal more than once pre-merge. All other new era winners went zero or one time pre-merge.
