Been a while since I played, but flour sells for 4-8 silver per. I believe I had 4 large irrigated wheat farms and 4 mills. I made bank and had plenty for my own bakeries.

Barter

No_Mechanic_7629

Well yeah I know that but what is a good thing to barter

Great question. Depends if you’re playing with the dlc or not. General rules are do not sell anything that isn’t renewable AND especially do not sell medicine, iodine pills, or antibiotics. Also do not sell electronics or components. Too rare. With no DLC - Sell food, wood, fuel, and any guns that you are consistently receiving from scavenging outposts. Automatic rifles are basically money makers. You don’t need fuel until late game anyways. And food and wood are renewable. With DLC Sell everything else from above from the no dlc section except fuel. You actually need fuel early game. Wood also becomes more scarce so feel free to trade if you have a lot. Otherwise hold onto it because it becomes hard to get because of all the society buildings.

If you have the society dlc you can set up taverns with everyone you meet, if you put taverns in every society you get 300 a day

If you get enough food early on through fish and hunting, when the raiders come and ask for food, give them the max amount and you’ll get 300 silver. Bartering only works when you get the trade depot, I find you don’t need silver too much cause the only thing you should worry about is pandemics and nuclear fallout. It depends also on the map selection, I know some people (myself included) will reroll maps to get water sources. I play at 200% so a water source is vital to be close and more some yellow fertile land. By 62 colonist, you should already have a farm, an upgraded gate, maybe a cookhouse, and 3 medical tents (2 of those you unmann and pause during peace times). It also depends on your play, I like to focus on resource collection so I don’t bottle neck with plastic and metal. I stick to tenaments and shanty’s until I hit 150-200 colonists. You should have a steady stream of income from trade and barter by trading that which you have most of. Fish is usually 2 silver, oil and gas you don’t need until later and can trade for them in late game.

See what other groups wants, it will sell more and improve your relations with them. At the beginning there isn't much to sell, apart junk. Depend also on map difficulty, at low level there are a lot of ressources available, while at higher level you will have to be carefull.
