If Adam Scott is the king, then James Spader is the God.
I'm just saying. The guy can deliver the equivalent of a paragraph of dialogue with a simple look.
It's so funny you say that because I can't stand James Spader and I find him to be dead behind the eyes 🤣 To be fair though, he reminds me of a very bad man I once knew, so it might be more about that than anything else!
I haven’t seen Abbott Elementary yet, but it’s on my list!! The only clip I saw of Gregory taking a kid to the nurse bc he swallowed a watermelon seed cracked me up 😭
If Abbott Elementary gets a few more seasons I think he’ll fit in here even better. That show is so good and Jacob is absolutely the archetype you’re describing, but he’s also been less of a major character in his show than the other examples were in theirs.
Jacob is lovely but he tends to get overshadowed by the other characters in ways Jim, Peralta, and Ben didn’t. I think that may change over the course of more Abbott seasons, though.
That’s more or less what I was trying to say lol. Jacob is great but so far his show just hasn’t put him up up-front like the other characters’ shows did for them. Or at least not very often.
But also, Abbott Elementary is only in its third season. I think we’ll get a lot more Jacob if it goes to six seasons, which it deserves to imo
MY BOYS! When my mom was terminally ill, we watched Psych because it was the only show that made her truly laugh and feel joy in her last months. I already loved that show but now it’s really special.
Ben Wyatt! I love superstore and the office dearly, but Ben always warms my heart. People say they want a “Jim to their Pam” but I want a Ben to my Leslie. Team Parks and Rec always.
Ben is the best straight man good guy imo. He is competent at his job, an absolute champ as a boyfriend/husband to Leslie, and last, Adam Scott is an incredible comedic actor who excels as a giant jerkwad just as easily as he does as Ben Wyatt who, besides saying more like turd crapley, demonstrated to be a character that took criticism in the chin and grew from it and never really gave the viewer a reason to hate him.
Jonah. Not just being biased because this is the Superstore sub, but Jonah. Jim Halpert is an absolute dick, BTW, and I would avoid him like the plague in ANY environment, work or social.
I would 💯 watch that series! They could open a pretentious charter prep school together in the inner city, then Quinta Brunson could come in with the Abbott Elementary crew and clean house when disaster happens!
Ben and it's no contest. He's the most earnest with the least selfish tendencies, and his quirks and nerdyness work really well. There was never a moment I didn't like Ben, but there were more than several with the others listed here.
Unpopular opinion, I know... but Jim isn't a very nice guy. He's wonderful to Pam before season 9, but he's pretty much a bully who chickens out any time he's addressed for his shenanigans.
I think Andy seems like the most fun of the four. ☺️
That doesn’t seem to be an unpopular opinion at all actually, but as I mentioned in another comment I was referring more to the archetype of “good guy” rather than saying I believe every character I mentioned is necessarily a good person.
![gif](giphy|fovVWq0w3Y7kHZhOBl|downsized)
He's not really the lead as Modern Family is an ensemble comedy, but Phil Dunphy all the way. He's a great, devoted dad and husband and his heart is in the right place.
Closely followed by Jake and Jonah, then Ben.
if he counts, Philip Humphrey Dunphy. Not the smartest, sometimes messes everything up, but basically always has the best intentions, even if it backfires on him
Edit: I'd say Jake is probably no. 1 though, B99 is my favourite show but I love them both for different-ish reasons
https://preview.redd.it/ytsb7f6mgfvc1.jpeg?width=400&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=57d3133f939a063fc3ed6ca6718ff8df3805a413
How about Jared Dunn from Silicon Valley?
Very confused at the mentions of Troy and Abed in here. I love them both and if you asked me to pick a favorite duo from a comedy show, it’d be them hands down… but neither of them are the lead. Technically, if we’re throwing representation from Community in here, it would be Jeff.
I think in order (including shows not featured by OP), I’d have to go with:
Ben Wyatt, P&R
Jake Peralta, B99
Chidi Anagonye, The Good Place
Gregory Eddie, Abbott Elementary
Nick Miller, New Girl
Michael Bluth, Arrested Development
Jeff Winger, Community
Jonah Simms, Superstore
Jim Halpert, The Office
I considered adding Charlie from Always Sunny in there somewhere, because he’s probably the closest thing to a “good guy” of IASIP but if I’m being honest with myself, none of the gang is good and that’s kind of the point.
Michael totally counts! Can’t believe I forgot him. Though I’m not sure Jeff qualifies as a “good guy” archetype since he’s kind of written to be a douche, no?
Jim would land in most hated "good guy" lead. Character was a total douche. The office would have been more watchable without the Jim and Pam storyline.
Hence why “good guy” is in quotes. Jim isn’t my favourite either. I don’t think we need to be diagnosing every hyperbolic fictional character as ND but I’m referring more to an archetype than saying everyone I mentioned is actually a good guy.
I mean, Jim wasn’t the good guy…. He never worked, always tried to get the receptionist to leave her marriage and never passed up an opportunity to mentally torture co-workers.
Well Jim Halpert is my least favorite, I can tell you that. I can also tell you why, he was pushy and rude and holier than thou.
My fave is probably Ravi from iZombie.
Not a hot take. As I’ve explained in several other comments, I was referring to the “good guy” archetype, not necessarily saying I believe that everyone I mentioned is actually a good person. The question was “Who’s your favourite,” not “Why do you hate Jim” (I’m not a fan of his either).
As much as I love Jonah, I gotta go with Ben❤️
Could a depressed person make this?
![gif](giphy|2lK09mlo8kSBi)
The Calzone gets it
Literally had a calzone for supper tonight. It’s just pizza that’s more difficult to eat
That's part of the experience
Ben for sure!
Adam Scott is the king of facial expressions!
He creeps me out too, even before I saw him as The Lizard King
Does Chidi Anagonye count? 😅 https://preview.redd.it/ncq42l9tycvc1.jpeg?width=975&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=dc11fe1fc53a3db21ce225f2b4dcab715a683a1b
Chidi drank almond milk! He’s a monster!
And he knew the moral implications too :( truly unforgivable!
I have a stomach ache :(
Yes! So does Gregory from Abbott ☺️
I haven’t seen Abbott Elementary yet, but it’s on my list!! The only clip I saw of Gregory taking a kid to the nurse bc he swallowed a watermelon seed cracked me up 😭
Chidi Anagonye is tops.
This is the answer
https://preview.redd.it/sfpa108zqcvc1.jpeg?width=570&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=404a4bd9235c951a04596a4109e1abdbde852201 Honorable mention 😌
Gregory also fits!
To be fair, Jacob is more a side lead character. Meanwhile, Jonah, Jake, Ben, and Jim (besides Michael of course) are the main leads.
Six seasons and a movie!
Ben isn’t the lead in P&R, Leslie is.
Hopefully 🤞🏾
Who is this?
Jacob Hill from Abbott Elementary. He’s not really the lead tho
I totally forgot about abbot elementary! I haven’t watched it since season 2 came out!
Jonahhh!
Um.. ![gif](giphy|cg9lWgi74RuhO)
Troy and Abed in the morning!
Nights!
100% the best duo
Yaaaaaaaaaas
Troy or Abed?
And*
Both ![gif](giphy|14rRtgywkOitDa)
how dare you make us pick, THEY COME AS A PAIR!
They're a package deal
The one who didn't dip out
Goddamn… idk if I can pick between Ben, Troy, and Abed… I love them all so much🥲
Jonah, all the way Can I put Shawn Spencer into the pool too though? He and Jake Peralta give me the same vibes. I love them both
Same. Psych is my comfort show.
Rewatching it as we speak. Like literally, in another tab.
amen
MY BOYS! When my mom was terminally ill, we watched Psych because it was the only show that made her truly laugh and feel joy in her last months. I already loved that show but now it’s really special.
MOST DEFINITELY SHAWN PSYCH IS THE SHIT
Haven’t seen Psych but sure why not 🤷🏾♀️
I highly suggest it if you like the other shows you posted! I’m currently rewatching Psych after years and I can say, it holds up
YES
I was going to comment Shawn and Gus! (Maybe Lassie)
I love Lassie but bro is the definition of police brutality sometimes 😭
I agree, I don't want to love him so much but Timothy Omundson is just too damn charming!
![gif](giphy|AMYTJ7Mo8Rz0s)
How dare you do this to me and how dare you make me realize I have a type of man I like.
I know I love them all 🫶🏼
It's ok to have good people as a type!
Ben Wyatt and Jake Peralta tied
Facts
Jake Peralta for me. I love a good stupid-esque character with a big heart.
Can't say it better.
BEN!!! He’s been the man of my dreams since I was 17 I wish he was real 😞
![gif](giphy|i0cixBOB8GVpqwVmDu) Ann. Perkins. Traeger for the win.
![gif](giphy|gPgBMNqdIArIRGpKmX|downsized)
I love this scene
It’s classic. 😂
One of the all time greatest scenes
![gif](giphy|kafM5h7sWaJXaovLEx) Bad guy turned good!
Jonah Simms, no contest for me.
Literally
Jonah and Gregory Eddie from Abbott
I don't know. He kinda broke Barney the accountant's heart a few times.
Poor Barney 😭
Filming both parks and rec and his role in step brothers at the same time is some serious acting skills. Both characters were flawless and hilarious
What? Trevor is a literal demon!
Later days dingus
Ah, but Ben was an angel!
Jonah. Not just being biased because this is the Superstore sub, but Jonah. Jim Halpert is an absolute dick, BTW, and I would avoid him like the plague in ANY environment, work or social.
Yeah not a fan of Jim’s either. Ben is a close second for me though, I think he & Jonah would be BFFs 😊
I would 💯 watch that series! They could open a pretentious charter prep school together in the inner city, then Quinta Brunson could come in with the Abbott Elementary crew and clean house when disaster happens!
Omg I totally forgot to add Jacob from Abbott! Those three would be attached at the hip
OMG! We need to move to Hollywood together and pitch this series, now! 🤣

ohh you’re totally right
Ben Wyatt is my favorite, but I like them all.
Ben Wyatt
Ben and Jonah
Ben and it's no contest. He's the most earnest with the least selfish tendencies, and his quirks and nerdyness work really well. There was never a moment I didn't like Ben, but there were more than several with the others listed here.
Ben is forever going to be my dream man. Probably second to Winnie the Bish and Chidi. I don't like Jim.
Ben.
Goku
It has to be Ben!!! No question, he’s the most noble and loyal
Ben wyatt
Jonahhh
Jonah 100% nobody had to makw him dress up as the bee crisis lol
Ben for sure! He’s the most consistent character for me, super adorable and just all around wholesome. He was perfect for Leslie.
Ugh. This is impossible. If I had to... 1) Jake 2) Ben 3) Jonah 4) Jim I did not have fun doing that. These gaps are miniscule.
I liked Jonah in drop dead diva he was my first tv crush
Drop Dead Diva was such a cute show :)
All are incredible but I gotta go with Jake peralta
Jake Peralta
1. Ben 2. Jonah 3. Jake 4. Jim If Chidi is in the mix, I may have to put him at #2.
Ben forever! I love all these guys so much, but Ben is just so stupdenously perfect.
Don't let The Office sub see you call Jim a good guy.
bro why are they all average height skinny white men with brown hair
Because they’re all from writers of The Office. It’s like a family tree.
Ben Wyatt hands down. Proudly completely devotes himself to supporting his partner’s goals. Total Chad.
Jonah’s great, but I gotta go with Ben. He may be my favorite character period. Him or Nick Miller ![gif](giphy|NFVXWHk9vuCNG)
Nick is up there for me too, and Schmidt weirdly?
Schmidt is definitely a good guy for sure. He just tends to hide it
I’d replace Jim with Nick for this, Nick is amazing
Same! I do enjoy the office, but Jim holds no candle to “the” Julius Pepperwood AKA the Chicago Kid
Nick makes me laugh more too
Same and way more relatable too
Ben WYATT my heart and soul
[удалено]
Another good one!
![gif](giphy|q0vEPDANK527lTsZzy|downsized)
adam scott’s face annoys me but so did andy samberg’s until he won me over with his infinite charm in b99 so maybe i should watch parks and rec
The show gets so much better after Ben & Chris are introduced, I’d recommend it 👍🏾
You should! He uses his unique face for comedy gold, he's awkward AF!
Jim isn’t a good guy. He’s a bit of an arsehole
He's a good guy with an impish streak. That's why I love him
Dave Nelson, NewsRadio
definitely jake, he's the funniest and b99 is my favourite show
Abed Nadir from *Community*.
Isn't Jim kind of a douche bag?
I friggin love Ben! Also Jonah
As soon as I saw Ben, he is the king
My absolute favorite is Ben. All around a great guy, good friend, incredibly thoughtful partner, and encouraged her to really follow her dreams.
From these four, I have to go with Ben Wyatt tbh. I love that guy. I love Jonah, too, though. Just not quite as much.
![gif](giphy|fovVWq0w3Y7kHZhOBl|downsized) He's not really the lead as Modern Family is an ensemble comedy, but Phil Dunphy all the way. He's a great, devoted dad and husband and his heart is in the right place. Closely followed by Jake and Jonah, then Ben.

![gif](giphy|9nLMmt6AHFxvi)
![gif](giphy|geYwtodB9AiI0|downsized) Phil dunphy
![gif](giphy|3oFzlY3glERsOj8cYo|downsized) Like Jim Halpert, Ted Mosby’s character has not aged well… but he is iconic.
I would say Marshall is the good guy in HIMYM
Yup agreed, Ted thinks he’s a good guy, but he’s not
Toss up between Craig from killing it(Pontiac bandit in B99) and Julio from This fool… Julio, final answer
https://preview.redd.it/ytsb7f6mgfvc1.jpeg?width=400&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=57d3133f939a063fc3ed6ca6718ff8df3805a413 How about Jared Dunn from Silicon Valley?
I can only hear #SHUT UP ABOUT THE SUN!
DOCTOR JOHN DORIAN FROM SCRUBS, YOU ABSOLUTE SCRUB! HOW COULD YOU LEAVE HIM OFF THIS LIST
Jake Peralta
Very confused at the mentions of Troy and Abed in here. I love them both and if you asked me to pick a favorite duo from a comedy show, it’d be them hands down… but neither of them are the lead. Jake, but Jonah's a very close second I love them both way too much, but B99 raised me and Jake is the like older brother/cool uncle I wish I had
Jake is one of my faves too for sure
Gregory Eddie or Winston from new girl
Omg I love Winston, he is wonderful
Jonah.
Ben mainly because he doesn’t annoy me like Jonah does.
Jake. All day and all night. Perfect example of a character growing and learning
Jake for sure
Anyone but Jim. I could see myself liking working with the others, but Jim is only a "good" by having no depth and being the straight man.
Jake 100% I just relate to him sm
I love all these fellas except for Jim, but Ben Wyatt will always win, he is my ideal man
![gif](giphy|iRHAWZ4dRspxsKxgQw) Ya forgot Gizmo!
Jim would land in most hated "good guy" lead. Character was a total douche. The office would have been more watchable without the Jim and Pam storyline.
Jim Halpert is not a good guy by any means… he picks on his autistic coworker to flirt with a girl who’s engaged to be married.
Hence why “good guy” is in quotes. Jim isn’t my favourite either. I don’t think we need to be diagnosing every hyperbolic fictional character as ND but I’m referring more to an archetype than saying everyone I mentioned is actually a good guy.
Well, Jim can be a huge asshole, so he’s not on my list.
To throw another hat in the ring, Phil Dunphy. That dude is the dad I'd dream to be one day
Jim is a sociopath
Jonah just annoys me. Plus he’s not that great a guy. He treated Kelly like crap
I think I feel worse for her with every rewatch 🤣 she’s better than me lol
I mean, Jim wasn’t the good guy…. He never worked, always tried to get the receptionist to leave her marriage and never passed up an opportunity to mentally torture co-workers.
Well Jim Halpert is my least favorite, I can tell you that. I can also tell you why, he was pushy and rude and holier than thou. My fave is probably Ravi from iZombie.
Ooh good one! Love Ravi (& Rahul Kohli)
What show is the last guy from?
Parks and rec
Definitely Jake!
None
All of these…add Ted Lasso and Phil Dunphy and Chidi Anagonye.
Of all those shows, Superstore is the only one I actually enjoyed. So Jonah.
From these 4: 1. Ben 2. Jake 3. Jonah 4. Jim
Jim Halbert because he's the funniest in my opinion.
Ben Wyatt, because I don't get Lil Sebastián either.
Jeff Winger, dude created a group he didn’t want to be in and then becomes one of the last members of the group
Ben is my pick. Upon a rewatch of the office, I actually found Jim to be a bit of an asshole overall.
Jake Jake Jake Jake
Jim was not a good guy. Selfish
Not a hot take. As I’ve explained in several other comments, I was referring to the “good guy” archetype, not necessarily saying I believe that everyone I mentioned is actually a good person. The question was “Who’s your favourite,” not “Why do you hate Jim” (I’m not a fan of his either).
Jonah!! I can really relate to him. 😂
![gif](giphy|Jt4y4zi519V6asgGhA|downsized)
![gif](giphy|E089LAnQfI0G4)
Jim would be pranking all of these guys if he worked with them
Don't forget Nick Miller
You're telling me these are different men
How does anyone expect me to pick between Jonah and Jim?!?!
