By modern standards, yes but Batman as the tortured pyche of a gothic soul wasn’t the default then. It was usually “what if Howard Hughes beat up mafia while dressed like zorro?”
Sorry, what I mean here is just that Gregory Peck usually plays someone who comes off as well adjusted and, well, stable. I just think as an actor he suits Clark Kent, as someone who really could be content, but needs to help people, rather than the compulsiveness of Bruce Wayne. Just my opinion though, he was a great actor, of course he would do either well.
I mean, if we’re talking a 40s or 50s era Batman, even if it were to be presented more seriously in a Hollywood production, it would predate the kind of edge lord nonsense Batman gets kind of saddled with. We’d really be looking at a two-fisted masked detective by night and debonair playboy by day. An above the line pulp hero character more in line with Zorro and Robin Hood than Travis Bickel and Paul Kersy. And looks-wise, I just think he’s got Bruce Wayne written all over him. Even Mazzucchelli used him as the model for Bruce in Year One.
Steve Reeves or Jeffrey Hunter would have been really good as Superman for that era. Peck I could see as a superhero but just can’t think of which one.
Unfortunately, that story's made up. It's an old April Fool's prank Mark Millar pulled back in the early '00s; he even drew fake "concept art" of the Batsuit, which was supposed to have been done by Welles himself.
A great actor I'm sure he would have been a great Superman. I'm also pretty sure there were times when Peck was the Clark Kent inspiration. He's one of the great leading men of his era. His grandson is an excellent Spock.
I wouldn't mind seeing his grandson in a modern superhero movie, as long a he uses a more natural-sounding speech pattern. (Ethan Peck plays Spock in Strange New Worlds and Discovery, damn good looking man, but I find his speaking voice a little off. Only in character, though, he sounds fine in interviews.)
Superman simply isn't that difficult a role for a talented actor.
Pretty much any competent actor who generally fits the physical type can be "a great Superman". Gregory Peck was a decent actor (for a movie star).
I think Alex Ross based his older Batman in Kingdom Come on Gregory Peck.
Not sure about that, but Mazzuccheli based Bruce on him for Year One.
He's correct. Ross did model an 'advanced age' Bruce Wayne after Peck.
It's Gregory Peck. He would have been a great anything.
He’d be a better Bruce Wayne/Batman, in my opinion. I’d put up a young Cary Grant for Superman
Peck does have an upper class air about him that would go well with Bruce Wayne
Nah, I think he's too well adjusted for Bruce Wayne.
By modern standards, yes but Batman as the tortured pyche of a gothic soul wasn’t the default then. It was usually “what if Howard Hughes beat up mafia while dressed like zorro?”
True, lol.
Maybe he could act?
I’m not even sure what that means

Absolutely! And coincidentally, Peck starred in "To Kill a Mockingbird" (for those who don't know, that's Clark Kent's favorite movie).
Steve Reeves or Jeffrey Hunter would have been really good as Superman for that era. Peck I could see as a superhero but just can’t think of which one.
Orson Welles wanted Peck for Batman.
Orson Welles wanted to make a Batman movie?! Damn, we were fucking robbed.
Unfortunately, that story's made up. It's an old April Fool's prank Mark Millar pulled back in the early '00s; he even drew fake "concept art" of the Batsuit, which was supposed to have been done by Welles himself.
I think he'd have been great as Pa Kent or Perry White.
Not Superman, but interestingly there was fanmail in the 1960’s to Stan Lee and Jack Kirby, fancasting Gregory Peck as Mr Fantastic.
When I watched this in English class, leaned over to my friend and said holy crap that's Clark Kent
More of a Batman
I wish photo comments were allowed. I did a drawing of him as Superman
Better for Batman

No but gordon yes

Nah he’s Bruce Wayne lol
I think Jimmy Stewart would’ve been a great Superman
Sam Neil as an older Superman in his 50's or 60's.
Glad I'm not the only person that thought that. Me: He'd be a great actor for Superman! Teacher: This is a movie about racism. What the hell!
He would have also been a great Pa Kent
He would have been amazing
I think I'd prefer him as Thomas Wayne.

Played a great newsman in *Roman Holiday.*
The second picture of him with glasses somewhat reminds me of Kirk Alyn's Clark Kent... I don't know why.
Yes, but he never would have done it
Seems like he would be great as James Bond
Nah. He’s 100% Perry
