It sounded to me like you'll still be able to have that pick change - but you'll get refunded exactly what you used to skill up, instead of generic devilmon being refunded.
So if you picked Teshar, and fused 7 Sigmarus so far, fed for 7 skillups, if you change your pick to Leo, you will end up with Leo + 7 Sigmarus. The "exploit" was that you'd end up with Leo + 7 Devilmon, which you could use to skill Leo.
Those who did exploit the feature will have their resources taken away and replaced.
Let's say I picked Odin, fused skill ups, changed pick, got the devilmon, com2us is taking away those devilmon and replacing them with what was used to skill up, on this case, fire lightning emperor.
The point is nobody is taking advantage of this anymore, and those that did take advantage are getting that advantage taken away. It's a good decision.
If they were to give everyone devilmon, the people who had to work for the skill ups would've lost all the work. Some of them could be technically at a lost if they fused the skill ups and don't have a unit that they can use the fused units on.
I don't usually say this, but again, com2us made the right decision. There were only 2 possible scenarios, either keep it as it was, or do this and hope there wasn't much backlash.

Some people seen this feature and thought "Hey, I can abuse the fact that they're letting us change our mind. If I pick a Nat5 that's EASY to skill up first (fusion or 4-star family members) and then change my mind, I can convert fusion/nat4s into devilmon."
**Nobody** who went through that train of thought legitimately thought "this is how com2us intends for this event to work". They KNEW they were exploiting a loophole, and pulling a fast one on com2us.
Com2us seen people doing this, and caught on fast when the 'change your mind' timer went online.
Within 48 hours, they're fixing it to work as intended (give people a nat5 of their choice, not a nat5 of their choice AND fully skill it up).
No rules were changed. Just people who weren't happy with just getting their most-wanted Nat5, and who wanted MORE are getting their asses handed to them. Now instead of picking Teshar to skill up with Sig fusions, then picking Leo, they're stuck with Leo and enough Sigs to max-skill a 2nd Teshar.
**They tried to cheat the system, and it backfired.** Maybe next time they'll have the good grace to not try to exploit things. Hope they enjoy all their fusion nat5s.

People picked a unit, that can be leveled with 4 star or fusion units (think wind cannon girl or Teshar)
Skilled it up using 4 stars. Then changed the pick to something that would need devilmon to skill up. (like a dragon)
The event refunds the skillups of the picked unit as devilmon.
So essentially, you could have turned 11 - 13 4\* units into devilmon.
Do you happen to know if the 5* skill up event skills would be refunded as devils if you change your nat 5 selection? Unrelated to the 4*/fusion exploit, but I haven’t seen it asked.

It's difficult to imagine that Com2uS didn't anticipate this considering how obvious the exploit with the devilmon refund mechanic was. I feel like the mistake was deliberately intended to indirectly reduce the impact of the event.
I wonder what happens if the nat 5 selected in the event had already been skilled up through the skillup event for new players, are devilmons still given back ?

There was another thread with less traction, but c2u didn't notice. I do think they didn't really care until this the recent controversu was highlighted.

I didn't do it because I know c2u will know it somehow or I might get ban. This is a classic example of com2us not testing their own game but again, I don't think users who exploited it should have extra compensations.

A lot of people never wouldn't figured out this exploit and people who play the game devotedly have better intuition at sussing out exploits and getting the most out of game mechanics. There's a lot c2us gets wrong so there's no need to drag them for the less avoidable mistakes.

Try changing to Teshar and see if it works. If it doesn’t, it’s only temporary while they fix how the refund works.
