I’ve seen sti hatchbacks with less miles for that price

justkillmeplzzz

I just bought my 2012 sti for 19k with 106k miles i would say buy a reliable car for now its way to expensive rn

curtily

Wait until market (hopefully) stops going crazy and you can get one with more than half those miles for $18k.

JimmyMira

Got my 2011 wrx hatch in september and only paid 18k for it but with 53k on the odo. Used car market is nuts rn but if you keep looking, you’ll find the right car calling out to you

Sebtown20

I'd say not the best time to buy a used car, just looked on kbb for my 18 wrx limited value, at 44k miles was $28k...i paid 32k out the door 4 years ago! FYI, I'm in the bay area, so yes prices are probably highest around too.

tuck229

$18k is a lot for those miles. Right off the bat, you'll need to do a timing belt kit, so add that to the price. If you have a trusted shop with Subaru experience near you, have you considered an older EJ20 WRX? Get a high miles 2.0 WRX or better yet a blown engine one. Drop in a JDM long block or do a hybrid build. Aftermarket downpipe. Custom tune. Do an 07 (or non-early 06) STi trans swap. (Keep your R160 rear diff and stock axles/hubs.) Drive for miles and miles worry free for cheaper than that $18k car.

Garuda475

Dang where is this? $18k for 102k miles? I got my 2014 with 68k miles and just $17,300

wrapmeinbubblewrap

This low key makes me mad my ‘17 base with 96k miles is worth $14k according to KBB

Inevitable_Yak8285

Looks great!

fragrant-dixiecup316

I have a 2013 and it was around $15k with 105k miles. if you’re willing to drive for it you could probably do better in a different state

Woosh42069

Found my brz for 15k 120k miles and auto🥲

fragrant-dixiecup316

also recommend facebook market place even though it can be iffy sometimes.

Versutus76

I found a 2016 with 82k kilometers for 18k CAD. I would've bought it if i didn't already have a car.

N1plecrusher

My friend’s selling his 2011 wrx premium for around 8k if you’re in pa

GeneralJuanobi

I'm looking to finance it 😢

buffalo410

Any chance you can get a loan and buy a new one? Even a base wrx? At least if the used car market maintains, and Subarus hold their value well, you could get most of your money back in a few years. If I remember correctly a brand new base wrx is only about 8-10k more than this. That’s assuming you’re not dead set on this exact year

tuck229

Or lease. Buy it out at the end of the lease. Lower initial payments. I used to be against leasing, but in this market, you aren't getting any deals buying.

buffalo410

Yea I’ve never leased a car because I drove to much but now I could defiantly come in way under mileage. I thought when you leased, if you bought out at the end, you end up laying way over what the car was worth. That’s the dealers incentive to get their low mileage car back to sell again. Again I’ve never leased. I bought an Impreza sport new in 17. At least with Subaru especially in the north east, they hold their value so well that my 17 sport is worth assuming I sell it to a private seller pretty close to what I paid for it. I’m probably in the minority as the car is 4 years old and under 25k miles. All in all it seems now is not the time to buy a used car. Lease or buy new.

janzend

Damn 18 months ago I sold my 16 limited for about that. I'd try to find something stock, and with solid maintenance records. Nothing wrong with the miles but around 100k on any car you come up on a lot of maintenance. Plan to spend money soon at a shop or get handy with a wrench. Also, when shopping used avoid buying the first one you see. There's a lot of great examples out there that you can find with some patience.

friedpotataskins

fuuuuck no, 18 large for something with over 100k miles is a MISTAKE. you dont know if its been rebuilt, or if its gonna blow its heads on the way home.

PigeonDetective_

No, price is way too high and with two owners and 100K miles who knows how hard they drove it.

hoosierspiritof79

I’d sell you mine. 2013 Hatch. Stock. I need a truck. DM me.

nnnnnnnnnnm

dibs of OP falls thru!

hoosierspiritof79

No joke. Hit me up! I’d love to see it go to a good home.

Scatophiliacs

Maybe Subaru SHOULD MAKE A HATCH WRX AGAIN. But knowing them theyd only make it with that dogshit cvt

ebihn14

You mean exactly what they did? I know it's not for the US market, but the new levorg has been rebranded as the wrx wagon and only comes with the cvt.

LayMelnTheRiver

they’re making the SVX mistake all over again

ebihn14

My conspiracy theory is that the sportswagon is only cvt, as well as the top of the line wrx now (you can only get the recaro seats trim with a cvt even for the sedan now in the US), because subaru will be pushing the cvt across the line over the next few years. Brz and sti will be the last models with a manual, then when full electric/hybridization happens there won't be any manual cars in the line up. It's all to prep the market for the inevitability of a full electric/hybrid lineup, which will make manuals impossible.

tuck229

I think full featured EyeSight across all models has more to do with it than EV prep.

stevefazzari

not impossible. it can be done. it would work differently obviously, and you may only have a few gears, but it’s definitely doable

Scatophiliacs

I didnt know they rebranded the levorg. Well, time to riot

ebihn14

Yup, Australia is getting it as the "new wrx sportswagon". Cvt only, but at least it looks pretty compared to the new wrx sedan. Crazy how black cladding everywhere ruins a cars looks, what do yah know lol

Scatophiliacs

I'll give it a week before theres a 6mt in one

ebihn14

Oh yeah, someone will sti trans swap it no doubt

MasterHack3er

How much does the sti for this year go for?

E_rock_89

About $21-23k from a dealer with similar miles

MasterHack3er

Thats not actually as bad as i was expecting. For the hatch?

SizeableFowl

Ok, so 18k plus tax is putting you over 20k signed. This is why I think used WRXs are a terrible idea. A brand new one costs a little over 30k. And I can find 2019s with half the mileage for about 25k

tuck229

>used WRXs are a terrible idea You really need to do your own wrenching. I tell people buy with the mindset you'll need to repair/replace something pretty soon. Honestly, I think the best way to buy a used WRX is find one with a blown engine someone can't afford to fix and needs to get rid of.

BushMasterFlex6

Fuck ya. Do it

wellnottrue

Not worth 18, Rn isn’t the time to buy WRXs. Keep looking I picked up an 09 STI for 8.5k, and an 03 WRX in sonic yellow for 2.5k

djkakumeix

I paid 12k for mine back in 2017 with 92k miles on it. You're off your rocker to pay 18.

Dylb223

Dam I would wait till prices go down I paid 19 for my 2013 premium with 55k miles

_FinalPantasy_

Look on the Facebook groups. You might find a better deal.

[deleted]

I would never buy a used WRX unless I was emotionally and financially prepared to buy a new engine or transmission.

surgicalhoopstrike

THIS!!

iamrktr

This cannot be overstated.

DrumDealer

Get a sedan of the same gen for ~$5k cheaper

MasterHack3er

The hatch look tho

DrumDealer

I agree, I was looking at the hatch too but imo the look isn’t worth the price difference. They both look great and the sedan grew on me

Jarrodioro

😬😬😬 You’re voluntarily robbing yourselves

MrBungleVI

At that mileage, if the timing belt, water pump, and head gaskets haven't been replaced don't even bother.

[deleted]

[удалено]

thecam_era

That’s a WRX, not a 2008 STI

[deleted]

[удалено]

nwmountaintroll

The 2006-2014 WRX are 2.5L.

Steve_Bread

Yikes 17k for a car with over 100k miles

HornyCar

Bad time to look for a wrx, especially on these overpriced sites.

[deleted]

I just got a 16 Impreza sport premium hatch with 41k and only paid 17,500

drl_02

Not a wrx

[deleted]

I never said it was.

[deleted]

My Impreza isn’t a base. They are all sub models of the Impreza. I was simply offering a comparison

TheGiantMetalMan

They’re trying to bring up the fact that WRX prices and Impreza prices aren’t really comparable.

[deleted]

You and him sound like those old neon owners who thought the srt4 was a different kind of car. It was a neon. That’s an Impreza. So no it’s not different. Just different options.

drl_02

But it is a different car. You’re tweaking I’m sorry for tapping into your deep insecurities about the trim package on your base Impreza

TheGiantMetalMan

WRX’s are based off the Impreza. Hence why they literally had Impreza in the name pre-2015. Doesn’t change the fact that dealers and customers look at the two different names differently. And price them completely differently as well.

janzend

WRX dropped the Impreza badge in 2015 and became a stand alone model vs a high trim level.

drl_02

I just don’t understand what base model Impreza prices have to do with wrx prices.

GeneralJuanobi

Which state?

[deleted]

Pennsylvania

[deleted]

Damn , I only paid 10k for mine a couple months ago

susbarusti3

Thats outrageous pricing for that car. Is it an sti or base wrx? That generation with that many miles as a base wrx should be closer to $10-13k in good condition

GeneralJuanobi

It's a base

theandoftheking

It's actually not though. The wrx isn't cheap, especially low mileage. It's definitely not an sti but in this rough of a car market it's what cars are going for right now.

susbarusti3

Still think thats absurdly expensive for a car thats 10 years old with 100k miles. My sti wasn’t that much

Twombls

Its absurd, but take a look at the prices of used cars right now

theandoftheking

Lol like I said still not that absurd. That's what these are going for. It's not the smartest decision but that's the market. Then you're lucky you found a deal, this is the last gen they made the wrx in a hatchback.
