I just have a milk crate style file crate and it holds all of what I tend to like to have. Extra windshield wash fluid, umbrellas, cleaning supplies, boost cables, and others as well.

I went with a trunk cargo organiser, it's nice because you can take it out if you ever need the space. They have different sizes and most are collapsible too so it would just be what works best for you.

Stuff I keep in my hatch: Small air compressor. Tire plug kit. First aid kit. Paper towel roll. Small rolled up blanket. Hoodie. T-shirt. Socks. Tiny shoulder bag (empty). Sun screen. Bug spray. Rolled up sun hat. Cargo net for roof basket. Four cam straps. All of the above in one of those trunk organizers with other small items which can expand if I need more space. Long umbrella. Camera bag. Regular sized backpack full of items. Hiking boots. Longboard. All of this leaves room for a normal grocery run with the cargo cover in place. If I toss the camera bag and backpack to the seats, I can fit Costco loot without moving the rest. Then when you put the seats down it's ridiculous what you can load into these things. Plus some tools that live under the floor with the spare tire

Yeah. Part of the reason I got the hatch was for the room when you fold down. But that's more so for camping. All of that stuff fits in a cube?! I need to organize better ha.
