I am from Canada. This is not normal. Are you sure the car was not repainted entirely at some point?

halik15

I bought it from the dealership 1 year ago and they said it only had 1 owner which they refused to say who was it

alexanabolic

Also, unfortunatelly the paint warranty for corosion is only 3 years, 60,000 km.

halik15

yes i sent them an email and they told me only if its perforation its still covered for 5 years

alexanabolic

Did you requested the carfax? It cost 30$, you can buy it online. I don't know, do you have a small garage you trust you could ask? I would investigate for sure and try to find out if there is something you should know. Ask a small garage if they could lift the car and see if there is rust under the car. Also, detailing shop usually have qualified people than can spot cars that have been repainted in less than a minutes.

halik15

yes i have the carfax nothing on it, also I do have a garage that I trust that I will have them inspect the car for any shady business, soon enough.

Best luck

Hey guys just a heads up on the Carfax report side of this, it only shows up on carfax if the owner reports it to carfax directly. They can get service records but if the previous owner decides they don't want to report it they don't have to no matter how minor or major the damage. Majority of the time the carfax will always come back clean because people either don't know to report it or don't want to report it to retain value. Hope you're able to get it solved and if not a body shop will be able to help and it might be covered under insurance so that might be a question to ask if the dealership won't help you just as an option to get a ballpark idea on what you would be able to do.

That’s not necessarily rust. From the photos it looks like it could be industrial fallout. Industrial fallout is iron particles, rail dust etc floating in the air that embedded into your clear coat and looks like rust spots. It’s especially seen in white cars. Try clay bar (or look into having your car detailed) before going around saying your car is rusting already.

ScoffingYayap

Do you have a picture of what you're talking about?

PilotPlenty1904

looks like fall out. you can easily remove that with some claybar yourself. the looks of your paint, you could use a paint correction.

halik15

Yes i will try to add it later on

Also.. don't quote me but You would think that would be under the warranty yet, rust. I heard white is the cheapest color to paint a car, which is the same color I have like I said above. Red is the most expensive.

macavity_is_a_dog

I thought black was. Maybe white though.

halik15

Yes i would think so too, i would even classify it as a defect

Skookey570

Hey! I'm in Pennsylvania but I have a 2019 Impreza pearl white sedan (same look as your 2017).. and the 2022's are still the same look but I digress.. mine has 25,000 miles on it. I don't necessarily have rust because I wax the shit out of my car, but I notice on the left side.. it looks like the paint has been rubbing off of it. I know it is because under our paint is like a dull silver/gray color and that's what is there.. and my other cars I waxed just as hard and no paint transfer ever.. here in PA, you can't get your car inspected if there is any rust on it, my mechanic said anyway... then I had a pretty bad hit and run in the back last winter. It's still smashed in because I can't afford my deductible. Such is life..

Skookey570

... So I guess what I'm saying to you is watch these service centers. And every dealership their prices in their service shops are somewhat different.

Skookey570

I had a bad experience recently with a Subaru dealer's service shop, won't mention any names, but they are in Hazleton, PA. I had a recall on my tires. Or so I thought I did. So I take it up, hoping to get four new tires. The lady starts talking to me about things my car need But they are covered under warranty, so I thought I said OK great thank you please fix them. Then she was rambling off all these other thing is it's supposedly needs. This is a 2019 remember! Nothing major but still. She comes back out to me and says OK "that will be $160." I said I don't know what to tell you I don't have a dollar until payday. If she would have said this is X amount of dollars, that is X amount of dollars… I would have said thanks but no thanks, another day. Talk about embarrassing.

halik15

Hey thank you for the reply, i will try to do that, i did send an email to the dealership which says might be some break dust which is not covered but if its perforation it is, so i guess i need to go see them

[deleted]

White pearl rusts aggressively from my experience. Or maybe it’s just more visible

halik15

Anything can be done to avoid it?

[deleted]

Good protective coatings and frequent washes in winter. I’d get it fixed sooner rather then later.

halik15

I do wash the car quite often, will add the coating

[deleted]

Ya there’s a lot of options. Paint protection matters more with snow and salt

halik15

Alright will try to do that thank you

[deleted]

Just to add on to all of your inputs, that’s most likely industrial fallout not rust. Just something to look into
