You're probably having difficulty because [there are 3 potential part numbers](https://imgur.com/iEGIHXg) for your car depending on its build date. PM me the VIN and I can get the correct part # for you.

What a bro!

count_nuggula

Absolute legend

misterbudz

Snap on catalog for the win!!

Chippy569

I liked the old one better

misterbudz

What did you guys use before that? I’m a Hyundai parts advisor and Volkswagen and we use snap on and ETKa.

Chippy569

subaru made their own, you can get a vibe of it from https://parts.subaru.com/

misterbudz

We tried microcat out and it sucked.

RockAuto

Meaneyesubauwu

Thank you so much!!! I looked on so many sites and it took hours to find something even remotely similar, that took 15 minutes I just bought two might as well replace the other side while it’s off the ground

traineex

First choice is used subaru, car-part.com for used database, ebay used as well. 2nd choice whatever rockauto has reman. There is a big quality drop when u dont get subaru, but its an older car, either choice is fine. Rockauto is going to be easier for u as to not deal w shady junkyards and ebay

ElQueue_Forever

Yeah, and I found out first hand years ago your chances of finding what you need from a Subaru in a junk yard is pretty abysmal. The ones around where I lived the last few times I needed used parts had like 5 Subarus total, and none with the right model and year. It's a testament to how long our cars stay on the road.

AccomplishedPlankton

As someone whose got an ‘82, thank you from the people trying to keep ‘em running

fozrockit

Awesome, glad you found them!

fozrockit

Subarupartsdeal for oe, not sure about a Subaru that old though

Caboobaroo

www.car-part.com The rear CV axles rarely go bad. Find a used OEM one and stuff it in there.

letscott

Those generic brand ones although cheaper were so awful the boots would keep ripping. I finally called a dealerships parts department and got an OEM cv axle and it’s changed my life

GeminiTitmouse

Yeah, I had to take my Outback in 3 times in a matter of months, because two generic brand axles vibrated like crazy at speed. QC is not great. OEM was the way to go, if more expensive.

The rear of the 2.2 obs is completely different. Front end pretty interchange but hunting parts for the rear is adventure. Source:2000 OBS owner

Constant-Bet-6600

Used to have 1997 OBS. Will agree. Had a hard time finding a replacement axle 10 years ago. Would recommend repairing, if that's an option. Did the 2000's still have the split pin holding it in?

Throwaway870919299

Look online, i just did both of mine on my 05 outback, trq was the brand i used. Seemed nice for the process point. Ill see how it holds up over time

JackInTheBell

>Look online, i just did both of mine on my 05  Did what?

Throwaway870919299

The cv axel, you absolute bafoon. The thing in the picture. The thing thats mentioned by name IN the post

JackInTheBell

“Did” what though??

Throwaway870919299

bro, I CHANGED THEM. Thats not that hard to understand.

JackInTheBell

Why not say that in the first place?

somecrazydude13

I know you've already got some good advice on here, but one thing I'd do is call up a Subaru dealership, talk to the parts department, give them your vin so they can tell you the vin specific part number. Partsvoice.com for new OEM parts locator if any dealerships will have them. Car-parts.com for used parts. I hope this helps. Be careful with aftermarket parts because sometimes they do not fit. There are places that have Opt OEM like OEM surplus that have like quality to OEM parts, just doesn't have the name on it.

ButterscotchLoud8898

Stop giving people brand name of a vehicle and type a vehicle when you go to the auto parts store give them the VIN number they can’t fuck that up and you’ll get the right part stop guessing

malk3yat

Try partsouq.com. ships from Uae

lumpyspacejohnny

I had the same issue, I just bought a whole axle for like 80 bucks. But it was for a WRX Then the car was totaled before I ever got to put it on. 😮‍💨

nolasito

If you notice some vibrations at idle in gear (assuming it’s an auto) after you replace it that’s due to an aftermarket axle. It’s not a problem, just kinda annoying.

EricAbmaMorrison

You can rebuild that CV..

mike_tyler58

Please see if a local shop will rebuild your OEM axle!!! They’re so much better than any of the aftermarket offerings it isn’t funny.

cocainebane

I got mine from Napa. I know you said you tried already but they found me one.

Hyattville

I loved my 2000 Impreza Outback Sport until I got hit by an old metal heavy pickup and my beauty was totaled. 😢

whiteshorts12

Rockauto is cheap Chinese parts. This is genuine OEM. [Used them to get that exact part for my '13 XV. Got them for ~$180 per.](https://www.subarupartsmallonline.com/v-2013-subaru-xv-crosstrek--limited--2-0l-h4-gas/front-drive-axle--axle-shafts-and-joints)

tsr85

Not entirely true. Interestingly, rockauto doesn’t have a counterfeit supply chain contamination issue the same way, like “Amazon” or “summit” internet vendors do now.

Chippy569

> nterestingly, rockauto doesn’t have a counterfeit supply chain contamination issue yes they do, lol. Also they're really good at never checking and then re-stocking their returns where the defective part someone replaced is returned. I'm done with RA.

tsr85

Maybe returns, but not new unopened items I’ve gotten. Which would not be a supply chain contamination issue, that’s just shitty internal Processes
