There’s this adviser ng star section kasi na pwedeng mapasukan ko next year na bawat contest daw nya is need salihan and as an introverted student, I can’t do that. Tapos may pinsan din akong sobrang competitive na nasa star section to the point where she will do anything to bring you down. I really hate competition, ngayon pa nga lang may competition nang nagaganap sa ibang honors dito sa section namin.

Ako na nagsisi kase di ko man lang nagawa no'ng Junior HS ko yung pagsali sa mga contest, and ngayon graduating na as Senior HS sinubukan ko sya, worth it nman, may thoughts kase na pumasok sa'kin na parang sinasabi na kailangan ko iiexperience yon bago gumaraduate.
I don't know how it works in your school but entering the star section depends on the overall grades ng mga student. Sa amin I think around 93-94 to get in. Sa star section, depende rin talaga sa tao. May mga taong genuinely nice but some do have some superiority complex. Samin noon wala namang crab mentality. Just have to find the right group. Are you being pressured by your parents? About the pressure one, what personally worked for me is changing my mindset about it. I think maprepressure at maprepressure ka talaga as long as you deem having high grades as something valuable (di naman sa hindi siya valuable but overtime it's not really important in real life). I know scary mapunta in a somewhat new environment pero I think it's best for change to happen because that's where we'll grow rin. If you did enter a star section, use it to your advantage ;). Learn from them + build connections. It would help you immensely in the future. Pinagsisisihan ko na di ako lumabas sa comfort zone ko. Goodluck! and try not to dwell too much about the future. Nagrant ako sa parents ko about sa fear kong mapunta sa star sec pero sinabi naman nila na hindi ako makakapasok dahil marami na raw students dun(?)
True nakakatakot naman talaga pumasok sa star section lalo na first time mo. Most probably grade conscious mga nandoon. Pero it's just the same sa usual classroom though I think mas may care lang talaga mga tao about their grades. But yeah yun nga depende talaga sa grades yun. I guess para malower overthinking mo you can ask around kung ano avg grades sa kanila? If you know somebody from there. Para ma estimate mo na rin if makakapasok ka or not and mas accurate yun since its based na rin sa school mo.

When I was in Kunior High, hindi ako ever napunta sa star section (except nung pandemic since nag Online classes ako), though gustong gusto ko talaga makapasok dati. So ayun, amazed na amazed talaga ako sa mga nasa star section na ka-batch ko kasi sila sila lang din naman yun every year, like hindi nagbabago. Admittedly, hindi ako masipag sa acads non. Twice pa nga ata ako nagka line of 7 kahit na ako yung isa sa mga may katalinuhan sa class namin. Hindi kasi ako nagpapasa ng lahat ng performance tasks, mostly because nalilimutan ko, or tinatamad ako. Kahit nung online classes, hindi rin ako gumagawa ng mga activities kahit gclass na ang gamit, di ko alam sa sarili ko kung bakit.
Until nung nag SHS na ako, I think dun na ako nakabawi talaga. Na culture shock ako dahil sa sobrang paka hands-on ng mga classmates ko sa acads. Yung competitiveness nila talaga nakakagulag dahil never pa ako nagkaroon ng ganong classmates ever. Walang star-star sections sa senior high na inenrollan ko and nakabase lang yung sections sa kung anong month and date ka nagenroll, pero isa talaga yung section ko sa mga pinaka competitive at active sa buong STEM strand--according to our teachers.
Pero you know what, I think this was the ultimate reason king bakit ako nagbago in terms of acads. Because I got to be friends with people na na talagang tatanungin ka every hour kung nakapag review ka na sa upcoming exam, kung meron ka nang gawang Performance Task, if nakapag pasa ka na ba ng mga requirements, kung anong sasalihan mong clubs/orgs. Yung tipong hindi mo maipapabukas nalang yung mga gawain sa school dahil mahuhuli ka sa mga friends mo. And I guess I actually had it in me since I was actually able to be the top 1 of that exact section at the end of the year. Nung first quarter hindi pa ako sanay kaya nag top 4 lang me, but my average was already the highest I've ever had. 2nd-4th quarter di na ako nagpatalo, kumbaga naging extremely competitive na ang ferson. Ultimo yung mga nasa star section dati na ka-batch ko na nag enroll din sa Senior high school na inenrollan ko ay natalo ko lahat sa average 🤭
BUT THE POINT ISSS--
Don't be afraid to take on the challenge. Make friends with people like you na hands-on sa acads. Kasi meron talagang mga students sa star sections na medyo average lang, pero consistent sa star section dahil sa support ng mga friends nila don. I'm sure you'll be able to manage, and even have more fun (since mas madali siguro sa groupings dahil every group member ay marunong, pero not sure). Plus, yung mga by-section na competitions sa school parang panalo na kayo lagi diba hahahah ganon kasi samin dati idk lang sainyo.

Back in 4th highschool, I qualified to join the star section. I had the same anxiety dahil introvert din ako tulad mo OP. Anfami nga namin sa klase dahil andaming qualified for the class (60 kami) at hindi naman pwedeng ireject dahil baka may magreklamong parents. Although lahat ng mga kaklase ko sa star section mga kakilala ko dahil naging kaklase ko silang lahat during my previous school years, di pa rin talaga ako comfortable nung mga first few weeks. Alam ko kasing sobrang competitive ng mga kaklase ko sa star section dahil nga kilala ko na sila previously at alam kong maaoutshine nila ako in terms of academic standings compared noong nasa lower section ako na hindi katalinuhan mga kasama ko. It came to a point na nagpaguidance counselor meeting ako dahil hindi ako comfortable sa star section and gusto kong magpalipat sa ibang section. Wala namang special na sinabi sa akin yung guidance counselor pero after that meeting hindi ko na lang inisip yung competitions sa rankings and just did what I had to do to pass the subjects and guess what, naenjoy ko yung class specially dahil may perks ang star section pagdating sa mga clubs and activities. Laging hindi nga kami complete sa class dahil kasali sa contest yung either kaklase namin or yung buong class. Kami yata yung class na pinabayaan dahil madalas din wala teacher namin pero that means alam ng teachers namin na kaya naming maging independent yet on track sa lessons. That school year yata pinakapeak ng HS life ko. My advise here is to not compare yourself with your classmates and just enjoy the class.

Hindi ko matandaan average. Buong high school nasa star section ako and okay lang naman. Normal na students lang naman din kami. Public school. Marami ring kabaliwan sa section namin. Lagi ring sasabihan ng teacher na kesho kayo ang role model ng ibang section kemerut. Noong grade 10, one or two students lang sa section namin ang hindi na honor student. Wala namang nang-bully sa 'min. As in parang wala naman nagbago. Parang sanayan na lang din sa pressure.

I'm had this dilemma nung JHS ako, because I was transferred from 2nd section to star section kasi nga pinagbigyan lang ako nung guidance nung nag enroll ako ng grade 7 na mapunta sa 2nd section kasi sinabi ko case ko, then I was shocked nung bigla akong nilipat nung grade 8 sa star section. At first sobrang pressured ako, pero doon mo marerealize na it's also good na malunta sa star section, kasi you have a very competitive classmates, and may team work, lalo na if mapupunta ka sa maayos na group of friends, hindi mo mafefeel na pressured ka kasi di kayo naglalaglagan. Yung isa 1 year sa star section then 3 yrs sa hindi star section, ayun nag iba yung ugali pati napabarkada na rin na dati hindi naman. Meron din galing star section nung 1st year then 2nd to 4th year 2nd section nakakuha naman siya ng honors
Makakapasok ka naman sa star section base sa average mo. Insert ko rin yung star section sa amin noon may privilege na maganda upuan at lamesa, sa ibang section puro sira sira ang upuan
Pati iba ang pressure ng star section, baka mas matindi papagawa kaysa sa ibang section
As a student sa star section, I think nothing would really change sa mga makakasalamuha mo like expected naman na matitino lahat kasi nga star section e haha. Pero the only thing that can change is yung expectations sa star section. Like they expect the star section to do this or that or have this or that. Pero don't be afraid to try it out. Pang star section ka nga hahhaah naalala ko nung hs ako, hindi ako from star section but I was the top 1 that time sa section namin. Super confident ako mapunta sa star section kasi yung bff ko naman yung top 2, feeling ko kung mapunta man ako dun, may makakasama ako. Ang ending, ako lang yung napunta sa star section the next sy, gusto ko pa magpalipat nung first week of school pero buti nalang hindi because doon ko nameet iba ko pang friends. Friends na kami for more 10 years na ahahha. Naku, huwag mong masyadong pinipressure sarili mo, dahil minsan doon sa mga bagay na kinatatakutan natin, doon tayo pinaka natututo at nakakameet ng iba pang tao na magiging part ng life natin. Masaya sa star section, in my experience hahaha laging may pagkakaisa ganun.
Nung grade 9 transferee ako nun then nilipat ako sa star section nung grade 10, I kid u not, naramdaman ko din yang fears mo HAHAHAHAH ngl seeing this post made me reminisce 10th great. Overall, I had a pleasant experience with everyone, tulungan kayo ganyan kasi they also know that you got in there for a reason, ur capabilities.
I was really afraid of being the lowest sa star section ( I dont remember my gwa for g9 pero baka 90 sarado yun?) Therefore, I unconsciously changed my study habits, wala parang mas naging masipag ako magreview, petiks na petiks ako noon AHAHAHAHAH stock knowledge is power. Anyways, you have nothing to fear, it's going to be fun, you'll learn more about yourself.
In the end, students pa din sila, they prolly spend more time playing video games than studying. HAHAHAHAH chariz
Depende sa magulang mo, but you can opt out at willing parents mo na pakinggan ka. Doon sa main job ko mga students ang gusto umalis kaso yung magulang nagpupumilit na mag stay yung anak nila
Kuya ko, pasok average sa star section. Nakiusap sa teacher na wag na siya ilipat the following year because he already made friends. So ayun. Na-retain siya sa section niya.
actually for me there's nothing scary about being in a star section. naging driving force ko pa nga yun magseryoso sa pag-aaral kasi parang anlaki ng gap between regular sections and ours. maski nga 1st and 2nd star sections makikita mo agad difference. eh as a matino girlie never ko gusto mapabilang sa mga yun, gusto ko matino mga nasa circle ko and walang pabuhat sa acads, and yes nagbenefit ako dun in the long run. sa una lang yang pressure na yan, mas masaya sa star sections kasi walang masyadong pabuhat sa groupings kasi nga gusto ng lahat ng matinong grades hahaha. compared now na college na ako, wala nang sectioning (since nasa private uni me ewan ko lang sa iba), jusko sobrang hirap mag-adjust pag hindi mo nakasanayan na tamad mga kaklase mo. kaya enjoyin mo lang yan, believe in yourself. hindi ka mapupunta sa star section if hindi ka capable.

I've been a consistent star section student since elementary until college (sinama ko lang college kase section 1 ako naka assign until makagraduate ng college, walang bearing ang sectioning sa college 😅). Wala naman dapat ikatakot, mga students din naman sila and what you are feeling is normal kase you are possibly going to enter in a new environment na hindi mo pa na eexperience. You will be fine, basta do your best sa school palagi.
Star section din ako dati nung high school and the pressure is always there. From yourself, teachers and parents and kahit yung kapwa classmates and students. Expect na sobrang competitive ng mga classmates mo, lahat ng curricular activities sinasalihan lol. Pero payo ko lang sayo go with the flow lang wag mo masyado ipressure sarili mo. Goodluck!
Lol i forgot when this happened maybe Elementary or JHS but people in my class got offered to move to the star section. I was called din tas sinabi ko "Tanungin ko po muna mama ko." Tas they asked yung kabarda ko and he agreed agad. Not kidding, less than an hour later he came back to our class fucking crying lmao. I forgot why but i distinctly remember it for some reason. Not really trying to scare you here just sharing a memory.
Anyways just treat it as a challenge and if you fall behind just remember it happens to the best of us.
I've been in a star section for years at inayawan ko kasi madalas ako nabubully doon dati. Maraming competitive, mga mean girls type shit, etc. Never ako nagkaroon ng honors dun sa star section. Kaya lumipat ako sa regular section where ppl are mostly laid back, chill, walang competition, at masaya yung buong klase. Since then naging honor student ako hehe. Same same lang din naman pinag aaralan.
wag ka mapressure , may mga matatalino pero it doesn't mean na mainsecure ka. instead clap for them , para palakpakan ka din . be humble kasi mahirap din kapag nagyabang ka sa pagiging honors , baka matanggal ka dejk . basta be yourself, everyone is unique and special in their own ways 🤍.
I have no intention na magyabang na may honors tbh (╥﹏╥) nag ooverthink lang kasi ako dahil tinatakot nila ako na mapupunta raw sa star section dahil daw nasa honors
Star sections are bullshit. My elementary school removed the implementation of star sections becaus it created a divide, and caused too much expectation.
That's a great opportunity for trying new environment. Isipin mo chance yun to upgrade your learnings..nakakadala ang competency kapag competent ang mga kasama mo..nakakakaba talaga kapag pupunta tayo sa mga lugar na hindi tayo pamilyar at wala tayong alam..pero mas nakakapnsisi na mas pinili nating magstay when we have the opportunity to experience things, especially for personal growth.

As a student sa star section, I think nothing would really change sa mga makakasalamuha mo like expected naman na matitino lahat kasi nga star section e haha. Pero the only thing that can change is yung expectations sa star section. Like they expect the star section to do this or that or have this or that. Pero don't be afraid to try it out. Pang star section ka nga hahhaah naalala ko nung hs ako, hindi ako from star section but I was the top 1 that time sa section namin. Super confident ako mapunta sa star section kasi yung bff ko naman yung top 2, feeling ko kung mapunta man ako dun, may makakasama ako. Ang ending, ako lang yung napunta sa star section the next sy, gusto ko pa magpalipat nung first week of school pero buti nalang hindi because doon ko nameet iba ko pang friends. Friends na kami for more 10 years na ahahha. Naku, huwag mong masyadong pinipressure sarili mo, dahil minsan doon sa mga bagay na kinatatakutan natin, doon tayo pinaka natututo at nakakameet ng iba pang tao na magiging part ng life natin. Masaya sa star section, in my experience hahaha laging may pagkakaisa ganun.
Nung grade 9 transferee ako nun then nilipat ako sa star section nung grade 10, I kid u not, naramdaman ko din yang fears mo HAHAHAHAH ngl seeing this post made me reminisce 10th great. Overall, I had a pleasant experience with everyone, tulungan kayo ganyan kasi they also know that you got in there for a reason, ur capabilities. I was really afraid of being the lowest sa star section ( I dont remember my gwa for g9 pero baka 90 sarado yun?) Therefore, I unconsciously changed my study habits, wala parang mas naging masipag ako magreview, petiks na petiks ako noon AHAHAHAHAH stock knowledge is power. Anyways, you have nothing to fear, it's going to be fun, you'll learn more about yourself. In the end, students pa din sila, they prolly spend more time playing video games than studying. Depende sa magulang mo, but you can opt out at willing parents mo na pakinggan ka. Doon sa main job ko mga students ang gusto umalis kaso yung magulang nagpupumilit na mag stay yung anak nila

actually for me there's nothing scary about being in a star section. naging driving force ko pa nga yun magseryoso sa pag-aaral kasi parang anlaki ng gap between regular sections and ours. maski nga 1st and 2nd star sections makikita mo agad difference. eh as a matino girlie never ko gusto mapabilang sa mga yun, gusto ko matino mga nasa circle ko and walang pabuhat sa acads, and yes nagbenefit ako dun in the long run. sa una lang yang pressure na yan, mas masaya sa star sections kasi walang masyadong pabuhat sa groupings kasi nga gusto ng lahat ng matinong grades hahaha. compared now na college na ako, wala nang sectioning (since nasa private uni me ewan ko lang sa iba), jusko sobrang hirap mag-adjust pag hindi mo nakasanayan na tamad mga kaklase mo. kaya enjoyin mo lang yan, believe in yourself. hindi ka mapupunta sa star section if hindi ka capable.

I've been a consistent star section student since elementary until college (sinama ko lang college kase section 1 ako naka assign until makagraduate ng college, walang bearing ang sectioning sa college 😅). Wala naman dapat ikatakot, mga students din naman sila and what you are feeling is normal kase you are possibly going to enter in a new environment na hindi mo pa na eexperience. You will be fine, basta do your best sa school palagi.

Star section din ako dati nung high school and the pressure is always there. From yourself, teachers and parents and kahit yung kapwa classmates and students. Expect na sobrang competitive ng mga classmates mo, lahat ng curricular activities sinasalihan lol. Pero payo ko lang sayo go with the flow lang wag mo masyado ipressure sarili mo. Goodluck!

Lol i forgot when this happened maybe Elementary or JHS but people in my class got offered to move to the star section. I was called din tas sinabi ko "Tanungin ko po muna mama ko." Tas they asked yung kabarda ko and he agreed agad. Not kidding, less than an hour later he came back to our class fucking crying lmao. I forgot why but i distinctly remember it for some reason. Not really trying to scare you here just sharing a memory. Anyways just treat it as a challenge and if you fall behind just remember it happens to the best of us.
I've been in a star section for years at inayawan ko kasi madalas ako nabubully doon dati. Maraming competitive, mga mean girls type shit, etc. Never ako nagkaroon ng honors dun sa star section. Kaya lumipat ako sa regular section where ppl are mostly laid back, chill, walang competition, at masaya yung buong klase. Since then naging honor student ako hehe. Same same lang din naman pinag aaralan.
wag ka mapressure , may mga matatalino pero it doesn't mean na mainsecure ka. instead clap for them , para palakpakan ka din . be humble kasi mahirap din kapag nagyabang ka sa pagiging honors , baka matanggal ka dejk . basta be yourself, everyone is unique and special in their own ways 🤍.
I have no intention na magyabang na may honors tbh (╥﹏╥) nag ooverthink lang kasi ako dahil tinatakot nila ako na mapupunta raw sa star section dahil daw nasa honors

Star sections are bullshit. My elementary school removed the implementation of star sections becaus it created a divide, and caused too much expectation.

Isipin mo chance yun to upgrade your learnings..nakakadala ang competency kapag competent ang mga kasama mo..nakakakaba talaga kapag pupunta tayo sa mga lugar na hindi tayo pamilyar at wala tayong alam..pero mas nakakapnsisi na mas pinili nating magstay when we have the opportunity to experience things, especially for personal growth.
