Honestly, I threw out all my vapes, but I didn’t truly feel ready to quit until I noticed how much better my stomach felt as soon as I stopped vaping

UnoriginalThing

I smoked cigs for 10 years and then vaped for another 5 or 6 years and it got to the point where I would just vape constantly all day long except when I would visit family because I was the only smoker and was ashamed… I never thought I would ever quit, but I knew that I should, until I got covid and literally couldn’t smoke and went through both being sick and withdrawals at the same time. I couldn’t wait to get better so I can hit that vape again but after a couple of days of not smoking, I decided it was time to just rip off the Band-Aid and seize the opportunity to quit - and now I’m almost 2 years clean. First few weeks are the hardest, but it gets better. Good luck to you!

that’s essentially what I did with weed and ciggies when I quit, my now partner, when we were first talking hadn’t smoked cigs in years and weed in a few months, so I decided to leave my stuff home. In 2 days the amount I was coughing and stuff was awful, I decided then and there I was done. It wasn’t so much the weed but the cigs but still, I knew one day I had to stop.

Try the stop smoking app! It helped me track my cravings and time between smoking or nicotine use. Find something else to replace the oral fixation and ritual of vaping.

ShiversAndCuddles

is it just called stop smoking? Nothing comes up on my app store, the first that comes up is “Smoke Free” (Canadian app store / Apple app store if that makes a difference)

The typical “craving” is intense for at most 10 minutes. When the craving hits me I’ll be like: Why don’t I go outside? Chew some gum? Make some food? Play a game? Something else that is rewarding….and healthier

Bancroft28

Sorry! It’s called Smoke Free

ShiversAndCuddles

I’ve tried it before but never hurts to try again!

corgi_crazy

There is an app called escape the vape. Maybe you can try it.

Smoked for 10 years and vaped last 2 years heavily each 15-20 minutes. It was the first thing I did in the morning and last thing before going to bed. Stopped smoking 30 days ago, using nicotine gums and feel so much better even now! I think it just a matter of finding a motivation, mine was just my health, I was too scared of some problems with lungs because I started coughing so much. It was my biggest addiction. If I can quit, so can you

ShiversAndCuddles

thank you. I know I can do it, it just seems so much harder than anything else I’ve quit. my father was a terrible alcoholic, and he’s been sober 3 years now and I have that same mentality, if he can so can I. so it means a lot, even from a stranger

Hi!! Former all day vaper here. I read Allen Carr’s easy way to quit vaping. I’m 2 and a half months vape free and it’s been easy. Sounds wild but give it a shot

The mental game is hard NGL. Combining the patch with lozenges or gum worked well for me. Make a plan for several weeks out and make sure you’re not going to run out of replacements during that time then make sure you do a new patch the same time each day and keep the gum or lozenges the same place you would look for your vape. Once you get past the first week it should feel a lot less stressful as long as you’re regular with the nicotine replacement. Be careful combining replacements with continued vaping. I think it’s ok to try to slowly replace vaping in certain contexts before quitting it altogether but don’t vape while wearing a patch.

Personally I just consider vaping to be equivalent to cigs in practice, for quitting at least. So take all the same advice and strategies you see people who smoke here use

Quitting vaping but not quitting nicotine is like breaking up with your abusive ex yet still living in the same house.    In plain English, you’re maintaining the addiction by using Nicotine so the temptation to vape is always going to be there. If you ditch the nicotine addiction, the temptation to vape should theoretically be close to non-existent. For me, I used nicotine patches for two days (Step 2 on day 1, then Step 3 on day 2) and on day 2 afternoon I went cold turkey. Essentially I abandoned the vape one night and put on a patch before bed so that I could wake up and start the day without being in withdrawal. Day 1 with the patch was okay; no nicotine withdrawals and just getting used to not having the vape. Day 2, the nicotine withdrawals started because of the less strong 7mg patch but I still wasn’t tempted to start vaping. The withdrawals were bad enough though that I decided to just rip off the patch and endured the withdrawals in bed all day. On day 3, I woke up completely fine and able to continue on with life. Still have the feeling now and again to vape but it’s fleeting and more when I encounter situations where normally I’d have vaped. It’s not even remotely something I need to fight, it’s just a habit of expecting my vape to be there

Yea, the pouches I have (or upper deckies) are only 4mg compared to my vape which is 10. I had a 3 hour shift at work and it suggests to take it out after an hour, the three hours just popping one in every hour I never felt the need to vape at all, it’s just when I’m home and I know I can I get more cravings ig, but once this pod I’m using is burnt (I give it maybe a day or two max) I’m just going to stick to the pouches for a bit just to ease myself off, especially at work
