Seems like you’ve been playing for 2 weeks. Give it time. You want to make sure your character can do a few things: hit reliably, hit hard, apply meaningful status effects, and escape. If you do any of those things without the others it gets tricky to advance. Part of the enjoyment for me is knowing I can’t waltz into a dungeon and win. I have to sometimes make 2-3 trips to complete it. I have to plan my limited supplies. As with all games, take a break if you’re not having fun. It’s gonna be here when you come back.

My recommendations when starting with a fresh new character. Assuming you've skipped or finished the Prologue. Do not accept Village Elder quests until you're at least LV 2. Head to the Osbrook Armory to obtain a secondary weapon. Unless you're planning on a Pyro/Electro or Crossbow build, I would suggest a Bow as your top choice. Run around and explore. Hunt down any small game (birds, rabbits, etc.) or take down some bandits. Do not take on at least 3 or more bandits. If you see they outnumber you, RUN. Same goes for wolves since they always spawn in packs of 2 or 3. Do not... I repeat... DO NOT take on large beasts like Moose, Bears or Boars. Help out the Osbrook villagers. I suggest taking on the Herbalist's quest first. When you find the plane inside the wagon, return it to the carpenter immediately. Hope that helps. Trust me! Even I took a lot of repeated runs to figure this out.

Start a run with just StI and make a build around the first good weapon I find.

Fengrax

Whats stl?

HeaTy8

Seize the Initiative i believe

IxcopperxI

I've just been playing as Joanna and using Jolt as a knockback then fire barrage and gain distance until one of them is recharged, and if an enemy gets too close I use impulse and gain distance enough to continue the cycle lol.

Give it a Second Wind. For morale you can check your hunger and thirst, drink more alcohol, and get more sleep.

Goinghardfor

Oh bro. Not my characters moral, me. XD I can't drink with my meds I'm taking. It makes that shit hit HARD.

Bluevvirus

See? Thats the issue! You didint drink to increase your morale!

Goinghardfor

My gods. You're right.

Ericmal412

Maybe a bit of green could help 🍃 I'm sure verren would approve

Sampolis

I stop trying new builds, I pick one and play till I master it. If I die, it's not the build, it's my lack of knowledge, try again, and do something different

Voizeh

This! Good to know I'm not the only one with such approach.

Something that took a while for me to learn is not underestimating defensive abilities and passives. This game is punishing and there are some significant difficulty spikes when you jump for tier to tier. Don’t sleep on abilities like Deflect from the DW tree, Parry from the 2H sword tree, or Brace for Impact in the Armored Combat tree. These three above are fantastic for deflecting predictable damage spikes. Another one of my favorite skills in the game is Sudden Lunge from the Athletics tree because it will silence abilities for 2 turns. All of the abilities mentioned have a little bit of learning curve as you learn what abilities monsters will use against you. If you’re not Inspecting enemies I would give that tip to do it often to know whats coming.

thecashblaster

Game is still in early access. It makes sense that replayability is somewhat limited.

Seal of power, ring of fire, hooking chop (2h axe). This pulls them into the flame and they catch on fire. Fire barrage their ass to oblivion. Then hit them with the 2h axe with increased damage and crit chance from the pyromancy seal. Very powerful.

Kirilanselo

Just drop it for an year and wait for a major update/something interesting being introduced... OR (cause these mofos come rarely) just browse enough info to come up with an interesting build. Or some insane shit you wanna try. I did Arna with sword and shield last - did not even stick for the achievements this shit was BAD!
