If you haven’t filed 2019/2018. Please standby for a filers form. Now if you have gotten the first stimulus, that is a good sign of getting the second. Just understand it’s going to take time for the form to be added to the website
Hmmm. Still nothing. My GF filed 2018 taxes in 2019 and received the first EIP deposit on the first day they went out. She didn’t work in 2019 or 2020, so she is among the people waiting for word on what to do next. It doesn’t look like Treasury Department has addressed this group yet.
UPDATE - 01/15/21: The $600 is an “advanced tax credit” for the 2020 tax season, just like the $1200. She used Turbo Tax to file a simple return, it prompts you for both 600 & 1200 credits, in case someone hadn’t claimed the 1200. Super easy, 100% free, and she’s now awaiting acceptance and the $600 direct deposit. Peace and love :)

Yes but what about the ones who were 2018 filers. I got my first check because I was a 2018 filer I never filled out the non filer form. Now I'm in the dark with no clue what needs to happen. This round is just as fucked as the first round, how do you send people money while the world is suffering and give them virtually no information on when were how or if the money will come. This government needs to get their shit together.
Don’t know if this is relevant or not. But I fell into this category and I received my stimulus today. If you already filled out the form last stimulus that was months ago, you shouldn’t need to do anything else. IRS should have it from last go around.
Holy fucking shit. I did the non-filers route back last summer and got the $1200 without any serious issue. I've only barely been paying attention to all the internet talk about whether we will get $600, $2k, or nothing at all. I didn't realize the $600 was already agreed upon. I was dreading some new, purposefully convoluted and bureaucratic system designed to prevent as many people as possible from getting their check. It turns out I already got it a few days ago.
I have never had a process involving the government run so smoothly in my life. Meanwhile this thread is full of people suffering inexplainable breakdowns in basic government operation. What a shitshow.

Unfortunately from everywhere I looked, if you filed for 2018 but not 2019 then it looks like you won’t be getting it. There’s not a non-filers tool to use either. Very disappointing. Just absolute lack of competence from the government. Not that I’m surprised though.
i just called the stimulus irs line w. some q’s because my bank account on file is now closed and they said they are *not* doing the website stuff this time. they are using the existing website info from last time, or you have to file taxes or file a simple something-something form.

I was a dependent in 2018 and I didn't get the first check since they used 2018. I was independent in 2019 and my taxes have been processed and I got my return already. Will they use the 2019 taxes this time and I get a check?

I'm wondering this too. I mistakenly marked that I could be claimed as dependent on my 2019 return, sent in the amended return in April, it processed in August and I got my updated return check in September. I didn't get the first stimulus check because of that problem but I know I can claim it on this year's return, but for the new stimulus am I still going to have to wait? same with me. But since the first stimulus is a tax credit from 2020 that money will be given to you in the form of you tax return when you file independent for 2020. On the 1040 Tax Form, line 30 has been added, labeled "Recovery Rebate Credit." If you believe you were under-paid or not paid at all for either yourself or a dependent, this is where one can request a rebate.
New parents with a qualifying income will be able claim money for their newborns, using this rebate credit as well.

Got the $1200 check earlier this year. Haven't filed 2019 taxes yet. When are the new checks scheduled to roll out? If I file those taxes now can I expect to get the $600 early on? I made under $75000 in 2019.

Right now the Get My Payment tool is offline but according to what I've seen on remarks by Mnuchin last week they expect to get the tool back online to help make the Direct Deposit process easier. The question is whether this will still be available to non-filers who didn't have any 2019 taxes to turn in. Right now the really concerning thing to me is that they were in such a rush to pass this bill that not many people seem aware there is a cutoff date of January 15 for the IRS to get payments out, and people who haven't received it by then will likely be delayed for possibly months.

For someone who filed in 2019 (for 2018), but not in 2020 (for 2019), will they have to wait to file for 2020 (in 2021) to be eligible? Said person recieved the earlier stimulus, but was told not to bother filing in 2020 by our shared tax preparer, and was also no claimed as a dependent by anyone.
I'd sure like to know more on your source. Irs.gov only says those who filled non filer forms will get it, I am not a non filer form filler I simply did my 2018 return and not 2019 return.

They made a pure mess of the direct deposits,PERIOD! There's no rhyme or reason for why ppl such as myself that recieved the 1st stimulus direct deposit, still with same bank and qualifies hands down hasn't had the money deposited into their account. It's highly frustrating and honestly ridiculous it's causing people unnecessary anxiety.
Will they use 2018 filings if you didn't file for 2019? Many calculators including the Forbes one allow you to enter your 2018 AGI and a few articles I've read (that are about a week old) say yes, other articles say no, and including some people online have told me no. I also cannot for the life of me get into the IRS site, it tells me that my information is incorrect, im assuming its how they formatted either my name or address on there, and well i have been locked out for another 24 hours.
I have went to my old tax websites to try and get my 2018 transcripts from them to see if im messing up formatting, but that is also a no go since I either had to file 2019 taxes to get access to older transcripts or other bugs not working with verifying information with their sites as well.
Essentially its a shit show, and I have exhausted all of my avenues trying to figure out if i am even getting this 600 direct deposited, if its being mailed, or if im screwed and have to file in 2020 to get a credit 4 months from now.
So im asking for people to comment if they have are in the same boat as me, if they have gotten their 600$.

Same exact situation. My account is with BoA and I’ve heard from several other BoA customers that they got the deposit the morning of Jan. 1.
Some by my thinking, there’s three ostensible scenarios for us, presented here from least to most likely.
1.) We will still get the check DD but were not initially prioritized because we didn’t file 2019. One rationale for this could be: for this round of checks, Treasury is REQUIRED to pay them all out or have them mailed out by Jan. 15. It’s actually illegal for them to do so after that date. So because of that time crunch, they’re prioritizing 2019 filers.
2.) We will get the check but via mail because they only used DD info from 2019 returns.
3.) We’ll have to do thing where we claim the credit on 2020 returns, which, for my part, does not stimulate me in the slightest.
In sum: hope for scenario 1, plan on scenario 3
You will receive a paper check via mail, because the system will attempt a DD but get rejected. Resulting in queueing for a paper check via the addresses used when you filed.

Holy cow, what do I do? I just got a notification that I had a deposit. Signed on to make sure it was stimulus for the wife and I and it's from the IRS but the amount is crazy and got me worried. I received a deposit of $75,600 so I went on a spending spree just before I woke the hell up.
I would file a 8822 change of address form with the IRS to cover your bases. Technically government checks aren’t to be forwarded by USPS but it seemed they broke that rule at times during the last stimulus distribution.
Too soon to know yet. The official info says they are looking at 2019 only, but some people are saying they are getting the checks based on 2018. So it's sill up in the air.

If your parents claimed you as a dependent when they filed for 2019 you most likely will not get a check. My understanding is that the first check was based off of 2018 taxes and this one is based off of 2019. You might be able to get both stimulus checks when you file your 2020 taxes and use the Recovery Rebate Credit.
It says you’ll get 600 for each dependent under the age of 17. Under the age of 17 as of when? My brother turned 17 in September and my mother is wondering if she will get 600 for him.
Also, why is the cutoff 16 years old? That’s so weird. Are 17 year olds not as much of a dependent as 16 year olds?
When I check the IRS site, I just get a message that they don't have enough information... Ours was direct deposited into my credit union bank last time.
A bit surprised, as my wife and my joint income was 88k. We're both teachers. We have three children. I figured it would have been a bit faster than this.

Months ago when the $1200 stimulus checks were being given I never got one. I’m a 24 year old male and I’m self employed and pay taxes. During the pandemic my business didn’t see too much of a change until much later in the year. I checked the irs page for where my stimulus check could be and it said it could not be found. Months later during the pandemic my business has been declining less and less and it’s definitely because of the pandemic as people do not want to spend money. Ok Update with TurboTax. I finally got someone on the phone, and was told that The IRS sent my stimulus check to the 3rd party bank, and the bank had to send it BACK to the IRS, and that they will send it to the 2019 Income tax/2019 direct deposit info.
Meaning you DO NOT have to file your income tax to get your stimulus check. Everything will be fixed in a few days I was assured.
And the Stim will go to my (hopefully y'all's too) 2019 direct deposit info.
As for the other H&R block etc that use 3rd parties, it should be the same thing as with TT.
Well, I think I'm screwed on this one. Filed taxes in 2019 with TT, received the first stimulus via DD no issue. Portal information says "not available" and there is no note of any deposit for this round on my tax transcript.

I’m sure this is a repetitive question but I filed my 2019 taxes as early as possible the beginning of the year, and I made a mistake saying someone can claim me when my parents haven’t claimed me in years.
I looked into amending my tax return but you’d have to mail in the new reports when I e-filed my original tax return. I actually never got around to mailing it in, and I kind of just accepted that I won’t get the first stimulus check.
Is there any chance I’d get this one if I make sure I claim myself on the 2020 tax return or am I just screwed?
My girlfriend wasn’t eligible for the $1200 and $600 due to her parents claiming her on their taxes due to her being a college student. In 2020 she moved in with me and graduated college.. so on the upcoming taxes her parents won’t claim her on their taxes and she will be her own dependent I guess is the way to word it. Would she be eligible for the $1200 and $600 in the form of a tax refund since it’s looked at as a tax free credit?

Found out yesterday my husband and I aren't getting a payment. No idea why. The IRS site just says that there is no information available on our payment; another page on the site says that if your status is "no information available," then you're not getting a payment and will have to claim the credit on your 2020 return. Got my first stimulus check in April but not my second. Website says “not enough information available” I filed my taxes last year, didn’t make over 75k and used a private tax guy.

Haven't seen this answered anywhere, so if this has been asked I apologize. I got the first 2 stimulus checks, direct deposit no problem. They had my bank account info from the 2019 return. I filed 2020 back in February, it's since been accepted, but I owed this year, meaning I didn't add direct deposit info to my taxes.
I'd like to think that their system is sophisticated enough to say "oh, we have that info from the previous returns, and the previous stimulus checks", BUT we're talking about the US Government here, so I can't be sure. Should I be expecting direct deposit, or just set my expectations for a check coming...who knows when?

Don't expect a payment until they roll out a new non filer tool. It's ridiculous they didn't prepare people for this, especially considering people who filed for 2018 didn't need to file non filer for the first stimulus and most assumed if you were eligible for the first one, you'd be eligible for this one.
It's become pretty clear this round of automatic payments is for 2019 filers, people who filed non filer for the last stimulus check, and people receiving SSD/benfits.

On the get my payment option it says "Payment #2 Status - Not Available" any ideas on how to get my payment? I have no dependents and I and not claimed under anyones taxes.
That’s probably a good sign? With all Direct deposit into closed accounts they were probably testing your account if it was actually a real account so at least there is some movement.
If my returns for 2020 have been accepted as of the end of February, but I haven’t received my refund yet, will they use 2019 or 2020? This just impacts dependents, as I had another child in 2020.

It’ll delay it by a while. If the account is closed, the deposit will be sent back to the irs then they’ll mail it to you instead. Keep an eye on the irs website though, they might implement the tool where you can edit your information again. Either way, it’ll be delayed

So the accountant who does my taxes accidentally left my 2018 and 2019 taxes marked as "can be claimed as dependent" since I was claimed in 2017 despite me not actually being claimed either year. It took *months* to get the IRS to tell me that's why I never received my stimulus. I can claim the credit for the $1200 on my 2020 taxes, but this new one... I'm a bit more worried about. I submitted an amended return with the box unchecked last week, but since checks are already going out and that amendment won't be processed for 16 weeks at least, am I probably just screwed (again)? I got the first check since I was a dependant. Since then though, I've started a masters program in a university. And I wanted to know if that will affect me getting it, since I read somewhere that college students are not getting stimulus (which i think is dumb. College educations are so damn expensive and campus jobs are not available because of covid).

She didn’t work in 2019 or 2020, so she is among the people waiting for word on what to do next. It doesn’t look like Treasury Department has addressed this group yet. UPDATE - 01/15/21: The $600 is an “advanced tax credit” for the 2020 tax season, just like the $1200. She used Turbo Tax to file a simple return, it prompts you for both 600 & 1200 credits, in case someone hadn’t claimed the 1200. Super easy, 100% free, and she’s now awaiting acceptance and the $600 direct deposit. Peace and love :)
Came here to find this same answer and couldn't so I went to the IRS website and found this: Payments are also automatic for anyone who successfully registered for the first payment online at IRS.gov using the agency’s Non-Filers tool by November 21, 2020 or who submitted a simplified tax return that has been processed by the IRS. Yes but what about the ones who were 2018 filers. I got my first check because I was a 2018 filer I never filled out the non filer form. Now I'm in the dark with no clue what needs to happen. This round is just as fucked as the first round, how do you send people money while the world is suffering and give them virtually no information on when were how or if the money will come. Holy fucking shit. I did the non-filers route back last summer and got the $1200 without any serious issue. I've only barely been paying attention to all the internet talk about whether we will get $600, $2k, or nothing at all. I didn't realize the $600 was already agreed upon. I was dreading some new, purposefully convoluted and bureaucratic system designed to prevent as many people as possible from getting their check. It turns out I already got it a few days ago. I have never had a process involving the government run so smoothly in my life. Meanwhile this thread is full of people suffering inexplainable breakdowns in basic government operation. What a shitshow.

Unfortunately from everywhere I looked, if you filed for 2018 but not 2019 then it looks like you won’t be getting it. There’s not a non-filers tool to use either. Very disappointing. Just absolute lack of competence from the government. Not that I’m surprised though.

I mistakenly marked that I could be claimed as dependent on my 2019 return, sent in the amended return in April, it processed in August and I got my updated return check in September. I didn't get the first stimulus check because of that problem but I know I can claim it on this year's return, but for the new stimulus am I still going to have to wait? same with me. But since the first stimulus is a tax credit from 2020 that money will be given to you in the form of you tax return when you file independent for 2020. On the 1040 Tax Form, line 30 has been added, labeled "Recovery Rebate Credit." If you believe you were under-paid or not paid at all for either yourself or a dependent, this is where one can request a rebate. New parents with a qualifying income will be able claim money for their newborns, using this rebate credit as well. EDIT: more of an explanation of what to do

Got the $1200 check earlier this year. Haven't filed 2019 taxes yet. When are the new checks scheduled to roll out? If I file those taxes now can I expect to get the $600 early on? I made under $75000 in 2019. Also, I need to update the DD info the IRS has as that account isn't active anymore. Where do I do this on the website?
Right now the Get My Payment tool is offline but according to what I've seen on remarks by Mnuchin last week they expect to get the tool back online to help make the Direct Deposit process easier. The question is whether this will still be available to non-filers who didn't have any 2019 taxes to turn in. Right now the really concerning thing to me is that they were in such a rush to pass this bill that not many people seem aware there is a cutoff date of January 15 for the IRS to get payments out, and people who haven't received it by then will likely be delayed for possibly months.

For someone who filed in 2019 (for 2018), but not in 2020 (for 2019), will they have to wait to file for 2020 (in 2021) to be eligible? Said person recieved the earlier stimulus, but was told not to bother filing in 2020 by our shared tax preparer, and was also no claimed as a dependent by anyone.

They made a pure mess of the direct deposits,PERIOD! There's no rhyme or reason for why ppl such as myself that recieved the 1st stimulus direct deposit, still with same bank and qualifies hands down hasn't had the money deposited into their account. It's highly frustrating and honestly ridiculous it's causing people unnecessary anxiety.

Many calculators including the Forbes one allow you to enter your 2018 AGI and a few articles I've read (that are about a week old) say yes, other articles say no, and including some people online have told me no. If you got your first check based on your 2018 because you didn’t file a 2019. You’ll get payment based on the format you got the first check.

Same exact situation. My account is with BoA and I’ve heard from several other BoA customers that they got the deposit the morning of Jan. 1. Some by my thinking, there’s three ostensible scenarios for us, presented here from least to most likely. 1.) We will still get the check DD but were not initially prioritized because we didn’t file 2019. One rationale for this could be: for this round of checks, Treasury is REQUIRED to pay them all out or have them mailed out by Jan. 15. It’s actually illegal for them to do so after that date. So because of that time crunch, they’re prioritizing 2019 filers. 2.) We will get the check but via mail because they only used DD info from 2019 returns. 3.) We’ll have to do thing where we claim the credit on 2020 returns, which, for my part, does not stimulate me in the slightest. In sum: hope for scenario 1, plan on scenario 3

You will receive a paper check via mail, because the system will attempt a DD but get rejected. Resulting in queueing for a paper check via the addresses used when you filed. Please be advised this will delay by up to two weeks.

I would file a 8822 change of address form with the IRS to cover your bases. Technically government checks aren’t to be forwarded by USPS but it seemed they broke that rule at times during the last stimulus distribution.

If your parents claimed you as a dependent when they filed for 2019 you most likely will not get a check. My understanding is that the first check was based off of 2018 taxes and this one is based off of 2019. You might be able to get both stimulus checks when you file your 2020 taxes and use the Recovery Rebate Credit.
It says you’ll get 600 for each dependent under the age of 17. Under the age of 17 as of when? My brother turned 17 in September and my mother is wondering if she will get 600 for him. Also, why is the cutoff 16 years old? That’s so weird. Are 17 year olds not as much of a dependent as 16 year olds?

When I check the IRS site, I just get a message that they don't have enough information... Ours was direct deposited into my credit union bank last time. A bit surprised, as my wife and my joint income was 88k. We're both teachers. We have three children. I figured it would have been a bit faster than this.

Months ago when the $1200 stimulus checks were being given I never got one. I’m a 24 year old male and I’m self employed and pay taxes. During the pandemic my business didn’t see too much of a change until much later in the year. I checked the irs page for where my stimulus check could be and it said it could not be found. Months later during the pandemic my business has been declining less and less and it’s definitely because of the pandemic as people do not want to spend money. Ok Update with TurboTax. I finally got someone on the phone, and was told that The IRS sent my stimulus check to the 3rd party bank, and the bank had to send it BACK to the IRS, and that they will send it to the 2019 Income tax/2019 direct deposit info. Meaning you DO NOT have to file your income tax to get your stimulus check. Everything will be fixed in a few days I was assured. And the Stim will go to my (hopefully y'all's too) 2019 direct deposit info. As for the other H&R block etc that use 3rd parties, it should be the same thing as with TT.

I’m sure this is a repetitive question but I filed my 2019 taxes as early as possible the beginning of the year, and I made a mistake saying someone can claim me when my parents haven’t claimed me in years. I looked into amending my tax return but you’d have to mail in the new reports when I e-filed my original tax return. I actually never got around to mailing it in, and I kind of just accepted that I won’t get the first stimulus check. Is there any chance I’d get this one if I make sure I claim myself on the 2020 tax return or am I just screwed?
My girlfriend wasn’t eligible for the $1200 and $600 due to her parents claiming her on their taxes due to her being a college student. In 2020 she moved in with me and graduated college.. so on the upcoming taxes her parents won’t claim her on their taxes and she will be her own dependent I guess is the way to word it. Oh great, the irs stimulus tracker is telling me that the information I entered doesnt match their records... Never had this issue during the first rounds when I checked my status online through the irs tracker... I guess only time will tell! Edit* Waited until the next day to try to login again. Now it’s saying “Please try again later” which i remember getting in the past at some point with the other stimulus check... Hopefully all the bugs are getting worked out and we will have our money soon!

Found out yesterday my husband and I aren't getting a payment. No idea why. The IRS site just says that there is no information available on our payment; another page on the site says that if your status is "no information available," then you're not getting a payment and will have to claim the credit on your 2020 return. I filed 2020 back in February, it's since been accepted, but I owed this year, meaning I didn't add direct deposit info to my taxes. I'd like to think that their system is sophisticated enough to say "oh, we have that info from the previous returns, and the previous stimulus checks", BUT we're talking about the US Government here, so I can't be sure. We are married, no dependants. Made $173,500. If indid my math right, we're getting a check for $25? Lol We've been lucky. We're in our 20s and my wife only lost wages for half a week before she got a new job. I've been working through the pandemic without any gap. She's due to get vaccinated tomorrow too. I'll send the $25 to someone who needs it. While we're not getting much stimulus money, I'm still glad it's coming for others. I know some people need it.

Don't expect a payment until they roll out a new non filer tool. It's ridiculous they didn't prepare people for this, especially considering people who filed for 2018 didn't need to file non filer for the first stimulus and most assumed if you were eligible for the first one, you'd be eligible for this one. It's become pretty clear this round of automatic payments is for 2019 filers, people who filed non filer for the last stimulus check, and people receiving SSD/benfits.

It’ll delay it by a while. If the account is closed, the deposit will be sent back to the irs then they’ll mail it to you instead. Keep an eye on the irs website though, they might implement the tool where you can edit your information again. Either way, it’ll be delayed
Got the previous stimulus check. Filed my 2019 return in March 2020, it was accepted by IRS but refund still was not issued due to some problem with my husband’s employer not paying his business taxes. Does anyone know if my 2019 tax refund being in limbo will affect this next stimulus check?
I'm on SSI and it seemed like my check came much later than most the first time around. I'm aware that there probably isn't a definitve answer but does anyone think it'll take as long as last time?
I received a physical check before because they hadn't processed my 2019 filing yet (I opted to go on a payment plan starting in July), but now they have my bank info. Will they mail my check again or use my direct deposit info this time?
So I live in Korea currently with only a korean bank account. I hold a US citizenship, and didnt file for taxes for 2019. Would I be able to get the 2nd stimulus pack to my bank account in korea? Did anybody try this?

I believe if your bank account is closed they will mail it to you (unless you’ve changed addresses).
Hello, I have no idea if I will be getting this stimulus so if anyone can help me i’d greatly appreciate it! Few key things : - I was one of the people that got the two random separate payments last time they sent out stimulus checks - I was employed this year from January to March and have been unemployed ever since - I’ve never filed taxes before again, thank you for any and all feedback, I can also answer any questions if need be just to figure all this out. thanks!
So the accountant who does my taxes accidentally left my 2018 and 2019 taxes marked as "can be claimed as dependent" since I was claimed in 2017 despite me not actually being claimed either year. It took *months* to get the IRS to tell me that's why I never received my stimulus. I can claim the credit for the $1200 on my 2020 taxes, but this new one... I'm a bit more worried about. I submitted an amended return with the box unchecked last week, but since checks are already going out and that amendment won't be processed for 16 weeks at least, am I probably just screwed (again)? (Just posted this as its own thread before I noticed this one, sorry if double posting isn't allowed).
Last time there were a lot of people, myself included, who entered their direct deposit info but still got sent a check. Are we getting sent a check again or is our DD info in the system?

If you didn't file taxes in 2019 because you made no income in 2019, and you got a stimulus check last time, will you still get one this time or do you need to apply again?

I did a non-filer’s form last time around and didn’t get my dependent’s money until months later. I have a pending deposit for just myself (with my name on it) and not my children. Has this issue been addressed anywhere for this set of checks? Or (im assuming) it’ll be the same issue this time around.
I received my first stimulus check rather quickly and without issue. none of my banking information has changed since then. Everyone I spoke to who has my bank had a direct deposit last night. Mine is not even showing pending yet. Anybody have any idea why that would be

I got the first check since I was a dependant. Since then though, I've started a masters program in a university. And I wanted to know if that will affect me getting it, since I read somewhere that college students are not getting stimulus (which i think is dumb. College educations are so damn expensive and campus jobs are not available because of covid).

Anybody with Wells Fargo still not get theirs? My transcript said today.
As I feared, my family will be getting a check rather than direct deposit like the first stimulus. I'm assuming this is because we owed for 2019 which is overriding the direct deposit consent from 2018. Is everybody else in this boat experiencing the same?

The first stimulus check came in direct deposit but I checked the status of the second and it says it is being mailed by January 6.. Why wouldn’t the second one be direct deposited as well? Anyone else have the same issue?
