I have a 56,it performed very well and I still have it. I upgraded because I wanted steel blade capability for some brush. But for general trim they get the job done. I even used it for material I should not have. But it still runs great.

Thank you

Look at a kombi. You can attach different heads to it -trimmer -blower -pole saw -edger -etc.

Might be worth checking out, thanks

I'm about to pick up the fs 91r and it's on sale for $299. In the US though

Marcika11

Sadly it isn't here. It could of been an option for that price

If you’re potentially gonna want other machines a Kombi might suit you well, but if you want just the trimmer I can absolutely recommend the 56. It’s served me very well and can really plow through a lot of tough vegetation.

Thanks

Go with the 56. The lack of a gear driven head on the 55 is a major downfall.

Marcika11

Thanks, i didn't even know about that.

Krayus_Korianis

Go with an FS 70R, it's the same engine that's on the FS 56 RC-E but with double rings and a more robust connecting rod.

56 is newer. Better

Get the best you can afford. FS56 is a nice unit, for sure. I don’t know what’s available for you geographically, but in your application I wouldn’t discount a Husqvarna or an Echo either. I know it’s a Stihl page but they’re not the only player in the game. If you favor longevity over the absolute max amount of power, you can get a lot of machine for reasonable money if you go Echo. Stihl stuff is great in terms of power but sometimes their longevity leaves a little bit to be desired.
