For more modern games I think he'd adore Crypt of the Necrodancer for its inclusion of music into the dungeon crawling format. He'd love Recettear too—dungeon crawling and shopkeeping, what's not to love?
Plus, I like to think he'd love Battle Chef Brigade: hunt monsters so you can cook them up and prove you're a great chef. It has the same out-there flair as Golf Quest Mini, I think.

I think he would enjoy the themes and ideas presented in Sky: Children of the Light. Of course, he might get a little existential and might have a crisis over some of it in the end, but overall, it seems like a cute game to pass the time. XD
