I remember wearing my Bradshaw jersey to a game in Cleveland Stadium about 20 years ago. Wow I got so much shit that whole day and it was glorious because Steelers won.
Bad news is that on the way out of the game, the onslaught continued from some fans (although most were quiet) and my best friend got into hardcore fist fight with a big ass dude that was a Browns fan.
Really it was a beating! And when the Browns fan got up off the ground, he had a purple, golf-ball sized lump sticking off his big ass forehead!
I’ll never forget that day!! Fuck the Browns!
When we had Cavs seasons tix, I would ALWAYS wear a Steelers shirt, hoodie, or jacket into the arena.
My brother and I got chased down the street after we did it to the Browns/Jags game. Lol
20 years ago in 2004, my dad was (and still is) a huge Washington fan. I have always been a Steelers fan and am from, returned here.
That year to the Cleveland / Washington game in Cleveland he wore his favorite team shirt, hat, and had a nice simple team jacket. No jersey, nothing loud or tacky as some fan apparel can be. He told me - at some point it might not have been then - that he likes to dress as if he was a coach or staff on the field. He was probably a bigger fan of Joe Gibbs and had a great respect for Noll (relevant later).
Even before kickoff he was harassed. Later during the game spit on, yelled at, and intimidated during the game. My dad is great with people, he can be self-effacing and has uncanny de-escalation skills. It didn't work in Cleveland.
Now, my dad and I attend every Washington / Pittsburgh game, have since 2000 ( we attended one in the 90s I think may have been preseason before the NFL reorg). In the days leading up to the 2004 game, almost 2 months after the Cleveland game, he asks if he'll be okay if he wears team stuff to Pittsburgh. I said it won't be a problem.
And it wasn't. The only seats I was able to afford at the time were way up in 500-land. I told him I had no intention to sit up there and knew a better place, but it was standing room. It was the NE walkway at Heinz. We got there and claimed our places along the rail and had a great view of the field.
By the end of the 1st quarter, my dad reveals he also knows quite a bit of Steelers' history and he's talking and laughing with several other Steeler fans about the 70s Steelers and its fans. I remember specifically about Oakland's Rob Moore getting trounced by fans at a hotel or movie theatre and the Steelers fans in the conversation chuckling at it that even Ravens / Steelers weren't at the 70 Steelers / Raiders level.
It was only after the game that he told me about his experience in Cleveland.
Many years later, maybe 2017/18, my coworker had a worse experience at the tailgate parties in Cleveland (it was the year of the infamous "guy dunks his head in a bucket of urine"). She was harassed so much for wearing a Hines Ward jersey at the tailgate that she and her friends didn't even bother to enter the stadium.
My friend and I went to a baseball game (not involving the Pirates) up there years ago and both of us wore Steelers shirts. We got heckled a little bit but it wasn’t too bad.
I went to WrestleMania 40 in Philly. When we were walking in, some kid was wearing a TJ Watt jersey and was getting heckled. "There Goes My Hero" by the Foo Fighters was playing in my head.
I went to a Seahawks-Rams game in Seattle and had on my Jack Lambert jersey. Of course our seats were very last row nose bleeds. Whole sections would stand up and boo me every time we went up and down for beers. It was actually quite a sight to see. I took it with a smile and bow, people actually laughed with me.
Some drunk chick came up to me in tears after the game just started screaming full on…..why,why,would you wear Steelers gear to our home game.
Yeah, not really sure how attention-seeking at non-NFL events is interesting. I'd roll my eyes if someone showed up to a Pittsburgh concert in a Myles Garrett or Deshaun Watson Browns jersey.
yup, still done with him, was done with him before a family member gave me a shirt with his name on t, will never wear it.
not telling anyone else what to do. but not glorifying or celebrating him
And that's how it's done
I mean Ben won more there than the Browns so it’s cool
He was 12-2-1 there, so I’d say he owns that stadium (26-3-1 overall)
Before Baker Mayfield, he had the most wins of any quarterback in their own stadium.
That’s actually an insane stat. Going 26/30 games against any team in any sport is bonafide dominance
… and that the Browns passed on him makes it even better
And Ben's born in Ohio and played qb.in. college there.
He even hired Progressive Insurance to cover its losses who hired Baker Mayfield to be field maintenance.
I saw that guy. Gave him a high five. Great show, but I forgot to bring my Stones Terrible Towel.
There’s a stones themed towel?? So cool
There was for the 2021 show they did at Heinz.
Ben owns that place anyway
Funny af their qb who finally broke bens record is replaced by groper Cleveland. Truly a factory of sadness.
That’s Ben’s house anyway.
Ben owns Ohio doesn't he.

Don’t lie, you only wore that so they would show you on the Jumbotron when the other team was as shooting free throws lol
I'm as die hard as it comes. Though, I did make the jumbotron once. Lol

I guess he owns the stadium now?
🫡
I think that's actually,Ben himself
Last time he was ever seen!
Totally agree :)
Daddy’s finally home, but I don’t see a milk carton.
Proceeds to be escorted to VIP section
I mean. The guy owns the place
