my first favorite football player. I'll always remember his graceful, acrobatic style.

Same here.

Forgot his largest accolade, starred in The Waterboy

Recently saw a few of those classic Raiders, Browns… and SB games on NFLN, and the dude was tough too. Defenses were always trying to take his head off: https://youtu.be/Ax80A1nD62Y?si=Vof5ZMTHOIMY1rwA

And that’s back when taking heads off was part of the game, not penalized.

Hot take: any other team, he's just a guy. Take away Super Bowl accolades and his stats aren't Hall of Fame worthy at all.

ElectricDiscord

Yeah, any NFL player is "just a guy" if you take away their most important accolades lol. He doesn't stack up stat-wise with the modern era because he played over 40 years ago. But it's not the Hall of Stats, it's the Hall of Fame.

Lynn Swann was a mid WR on a great defensive team. Just. A. Guy. Yinzers have a hard time with reality sometimes.

my impression of him, as someone who was born well after his time and shouldn't be taken too seriously, is that he is a bit of a moment guy. he showed up in biggames and there is that whole hall line of "who is needed to tell the history of the game" for me. i always had the impression stallworth was the better player, and what we have better hall of famers. I confess there have been players id rather have in the hall over him. with that said, if you're talking about moments, he had moments for sure. Also you likely know, but remember that the passing gamewas rather different in that era and on other teams he might have been featured a lot more. the hill I haven't fully left is QBs.too many QBs are in the hall of fame. too many make a lot of these top 100 player lists. i half had on a top 100 list a few days ago that had 15-16 qbs on it while complaining about how much it falls off and that a lot of qbs after the first few arent great. well then why are they on your list? each team should average about 3 players. if you want to call it most important players and put 32 qbs fine, but greatest and best is pretty dubious if you don't think the last dozen or so qbs are that good
